Nice tile job !
Looks outstanding wow what an amazing bath! I have that peacock slate 12x12 in my sunroom and I was looking for a sealer thanks so much for posting this, exactly the product I was considering.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the video. Awesome tiling job!!!! Wow!!! What color grout did you use? You should do a follow up look. Great job!
Home Depot has it. Nice! On the ceiling too, pretty awesome!
Thanks Earl .
Man how strong are the fumes, for interior backsplash also does it leave a film.ive saw some of the reviews on the impregnaior sealer leaves a weird film . Asking I'm putting up slate on my backsplash. Thanks
Looks pretty awesome, no grout?
Looks great! Slates timeless, just slapped 100 sf down in my breezeway and can't wait to see that pop!..I love that you did the ceiling. Now, I've done plenty of tile but never a ceiling!.. what adhesive did you use? just thinset or a liquid nails type?
well i used a waterproof membrane and used the strongest thinset i could get my hands on. i wish i had saved the brand i used . it still looks as good as the day i installed it .
Works very well!! Tried other products on slate and nowhere close to this product
still looks as good as it did from day one .
@@jonddavid Are you resealing it every so often. I just stripped my patio and using this product. Really nice..but do I have to re seal every so often.
Just finished my out side patio , sealing slate with this. How do you clean it now or should I . Scared the sealer will come off.
Well just use plenty don’t go sparingly. I reapplied last year for the first time . It still looks the same as it did 7 years ago . I just washed it with dawn and let it dry real good then brushed more on . Looks wet all the time .
Awesome Thank you so very much@@jonddavid
Would more than one coat make it darken or shine more? I put on one coat and after it dried I could still see surface scratches, I was hoping it would hide them
jl deunbomable , More than one coat would probably make it shine just a little bit more. I have reapplied every other year even in the shower it looks amazing for almost 2 years straight. I do not believe it will cover up any surface scratches on the stone it just enhances whats there.
@@jonddavid thanks! I'm dealing with a floor hence the scratches.
Does it always stay looking wet? I have black Slate and it always looks faded. I keep it clean but it looks dry and dull all the time.
Yes it dose look wet all the time . It needs to be reapplied each year .
@@jonddavid Do you have to really clean it every year before you re apply it.
Did you seal the slate before grouting? I’m installing a slate backsplash and am unsure of my next step.
yes
yes and no. i did one then grouted then sealed it again . sorry for the late response .
Thats my dream bathroom, we start a project with my husband doing or bathroom, is the firts time but I love how look the ceiling how you do? The slate is a little bit more heavy than regular tile...please tell me the process
i wish i had made a video of the entire process but hindsight is 20/20. i just jumped in and went for it . i asked around and told the guy at my local hardware store i wanted the strongest stuff i could get . i wish i still had the name of the stuff i used. the bathroom looks just the same as when i finished it . thanks for watching
Any body pls suggest which type of cement or adhesive have to used for slate installation
i wish i could remember . it was the best /strongest i could find at the time . still no issues looks as it did when installed
Pls sir tell me.. I also want to install slates bt not able to find good adhesive cement.. I am waiting for your reply with name of adhesive or cement
I tried sealing with colour enhancing sealer on my slate tiles but the tiles just drank it up and when dry, it just looks exactly the same. Not any darker or any more colourful. I gave it two coats but it’s no different than when I started.
JAZZ MAN . There is another product made by the same company that looks almost exactly the same as what I’m using in this video but it leaves your sleep looking flat it seals it but it does not give it the wetlook. I have made that mistake before and I have a laundry room that doesn’t shine. In my video screenshot the bottle I have and compare to the bottle that you used.
Hey, that slate tile looks awesome. Can you pls let me know which brand of tiles it is? I have a similar 2x4 backsplash in the house that i bought but couldnt find a brand to match it. This looks very similar. Thanks
We got the tile from home depot . I’m unsure what brand it is . Just shop around before you buy and buy more than you need you can always return what you don’t use .
thank you!
No problem 😉
We bought exactly the same 8x12” slate stone at Floor&Decor, it’s name is: “Indian Creek” and this 511 works great.
I put on 2 coats. I really couldn’t get mine to shine like that.
Ben Burleson , Are you sure you’re using the exact same thing that I have. I bought one similar a few years ago I thought it was the same thing but it wasn’t and after putting it on I realized what I had done. The bottles look almost identical made by the same company but one is a sealer and the other one is what I’m using in this video.
Did the floor get slippery after applying the sealer___?
nope . still looks as good as it did the day it was put on .
It appears that you did not grout yet... why did you apply the Seal & Enhance before grouting? Confused.....
I used another coat after grouting . Now that its 2022 im thinking of re sealing but it still looks as good as it did from day one. when i get time ill do an update video.
@@jonddavidI was going to use this 511 today. I see it’s petroleum base. If in the future I choose a water based product, do you think that will cause a problem?
@@spudmcdougal369 all I can say is that after 5 years it looks exactly the way it did when I first applied it . This stuff is amazing. I would not risk using anything else after seeing the results this gave me . I am a believer 100% .
@@jonddavid Thanks. I appreciate your quick response. I’ve gotten rid of my family and could finally do something g about the tile.
Too bad better textured slate is so hard to find. I like bathrooms finishes to be smooth and free of sharp edges.
You tiled the ceiling?!!
With slate?!!!!😨
Mark Sargent , ya not for the faint of heart. I've done it in the past with great results . I'm unsure how long it will last but the last one was five years before we moved and it looked as the day I installed it .
Jon David Fair play to you mate!
I tile for a living, and would never entertain the idea of tiling a ceiling!
Did you replace the plasterboard (or drywall in your talk) with cement boards or something?
I'd be seriously concerned with the weight of the tiles hanging from a regular ceiling.
Mark Sargent , ya mark I replaced the ceiling with water proofed concrete boards then layered the entire bathroom with water proof membrane . I attached small star shaped nipples made of nylon all over the ceiling to give extra bite for the adhesive and the tile. It was a very time consuming project . I think the remodel took about three months working on it in my spare time . I can't remember the name of the adhesive but I ordered it online and it was about 3x the amount of the stuff at Lowes but it had good reviews .
Jon David. I'm glad I was along the right lines with the extra support provision.
Maybe if someone ever requests a tiled ceiling, I won't think it such a ridiculous concept!
Looks awesome mate.
And I guess I gave you the first comment on your video since you posted it years ago!
I was only trying to find advice on the best sealer for slate. Your Yankee products don't help me much here in England, but was great to interact. 😃
Keep up the good work my friend!
slatetastic!
you didnt even show how to apply or anything.
