I never thought that I would see "Smokey and the Bandit" on Big Truck Big Travel!! Another first!!
Lol... we weren't hauling any Coors, Bill but it was an opportunity for some pictures. We still prefer riding together though.
you both do a great job communicating when hocking up, it's very important to do so. :-)
Thanks, Kristina. It's important to get it in safely and we're both on the same page for that! Appreciate the comments.
Traveling together and not double towing is why we lengthen our truck to carry our 4-door Jeep and tow our 5th wheel RV trailer. The trade-off is our truck is 40 feet by itself. And with our old 32-foot trailer we were 70 feet going down the road.
Lol... I'd love to solve the Jeep towing issue with a similar solution... but I'm not modifying Voyager again. Lol
Your set up was a good solution to bringing a non-Smart car.
@@bigtruckbigtravels understand. This seems to be a common issue. Best of success.
You and Sue had a great solution for your application! We hope to announce our plans for the jeep in the near future. Kinda going in a different direction than most HDTers. 😉
@@mrsbigtruckbigtravels726 Cool. We look forward to seeing/hearing about that. Cheers!
My wife and I traveled full time for 16 years with trailers, during that time we had a C.B. radio in the cab and the wife would have a walkie talkie to give back up directions, it saved a lot of arm waving and was a must have at night parking. Think you will find that helpful.
Thank you for the info. We have bluetooth headsets and usually have them on. We probably will use them a little more in the future but for this trip we used our cell phones.
Id rather ride together and just take turns letting the other rest. Ive rode with my boyfriend who drove tractor trailer for over 19 yrs. I love the sitting up high to see and the air seats. B safe in u travels.
Can't beat the view! Riding together is much better.
Hi guys 🙋♀️🙋♂️..when we use to haul the wind turbines..Jeanne had to run behind me because she steered the back of my trailer (240 feet overall) from her pickup all day long..she was one of my escorts..had one on the front also
...plus 2 police...now she's in the truck and loves it...me too ..🥰...whataburger...oh yea...our truck (Rex) is set up to haul our smart car and our sxs and/or our harley plus our DRV...we are 75' overall...55k lbs...thanks for the video...stay safe...J&A
Wow. 240 ft is super long. That's pretty cool that Jeanne would steer the trailer from the escort car.
Thanks for the comments.
Travel safe...
We happened upon a driver at a rest area hauling a wind turbine support. Being able to stand right next to it was humbling.
I love that y'all still flirt with each other💜💜💜💜 lot lizard lololol
LOL....Thanks, Tanya. Lots of fun on the road.
Cool video! I was wondering what you were going to do with the Jeep.
Lol... yes, more details to come later but we are zeroing in on the final set up.
Thanks for taking us along
Thanks for watching. Hope you enjoy the "journey". Appreciate your comments. Hope you guys are doing well.
Sooo... we will be in Tampa soon... we should hook up. 😊
@@mrsbigtruckbigtravels726 My Bride will reach out thru FB messenger.
@@mrsbigtruckbigtravels726 but maybe not in a mall parking lot...lol.
Added Apple Annies to my list and gave them a like on fakebook so we remember to stop there, I hope they do apple butter. Be safe.
Can't remember if they had it. I think so...I was just looking at all the pies! Lol. Hope you like it when you stop by.
Kool lady looking great
😊
Roxanne said burger people esp Whataburger people are her favorite kind of people but then again people who like Peggy Sues are real high on the list too. We happened to overnight at PS's on our way back from Caldwell. Our last night on the road for that trip but it was NICE! We enjoyed this video guys. Enjoy the journey.
Lol...Roxanne has good taste...pun intended.
Thanks! I'm more of a chicken kind of gal myself and thankfully WB has good chicken! I really enjoyed PS! We like to come upon these hidden gems!
I love the song at the beginning of your road trip. Who is the artist and name of the song? Sondra your a roll model, you rock. David your up there also. ❤
Thank you. It's in the description but Jennifer Holmes sings it. Called "Outta Here" and I get it through Epidemicsound.com
Thank you so much, love your choice of music. I'm 80 years old and love to travel through your eyes. Ty
You guys are awesome. Every time I have a chance I take a break of travels with you guys. I wish I could do this with my daughter
Thank you so much, Miguel. We used to travel with our daughter on vacations and she absolutely loved camping vacations and road trips! It's a special time when you can share it with family, I hope you get the chance to share it with your daughter too! Glad you're along on the journey and appreciate your comments and watching the channel. 😊
You haven’t had “The Pie Guy” in northern Arizona…
The best pies!!!
I'll have to look him up! Love a good pie. Best pie was Banana Cream at Titos Discovery Cafe in Hope, AK.
Thanks for the comments. I appreciate your watching our videos.
Oh boy! Sounds like we need to check them out! Thank you for the tip! 😊
As always , I enjoyed your video. Thanks for sharing your travels with us.
Thanks Dr. Don, we enjoy having you come along on our journey. It's fun to share and I am appreciative that you enjoy it. 😊
Ya you two I need heard of anyone having pie for dinner where is the meat and potatoes and vegetables and maybe some fruit sandera what's for dinner and what time is dinner how many Waterbury cups does David have take care happy camping
Hi James, a little weird having pie for dinner... but, hey, it had fruit in it! We have soooo many Whataburger cups we've lost track of them.
@bigtruckbigtravels thanks take care happy camping
I enjoyed that trembously ❤
Thank you soooo much!
Another great video!! Traveling in separate vehicles I am not sure I would like but it does give each other a break from one another.
Lol. On the whole, we prefer to drive together but it was interesting. Climate control for each person was huge. Lol
Thanks for your comments. I really appreciate them.
LOL... the only time we don't seem to agree on something is the climate control and that's when driving seperate was a good thing. But when we are together I have an electric blanket and little space heater to keep me warm. 😊
i think she was really missing your dad jokes lol
Oh, I think so too, Lance... but she would never admit it!
Another great video!
Thank you. It was weird to drive separate for that many miles. There were some nice aspects to it but overall we enjoy traveling together. Thanks for the comments. Appreciate your kind words. 😊
We hook up the Jeep 99.9% of the time on a super short distance we won’t but it’s probably once or twice a year.
We do too! Doesn't take much to hook or unhook....Thanks
❤❤❤❤
😍😎
Looks like the separate driving is working out pretty well. The little we have done it we have managed OK, and like anything there are pros/cons.... again, a nice video with good editing and music selection. At least for me.....
Thanks Jack. I'm enjoying putting the music together with the video. There were some advantages but on a regular basis we still prefer to drive together.
Thanks for the feedback. I'm always anxious for David's next video. Even though he's about 15 behind, he's not rushing thru and doing a great job! 😁
@@mrsbigtruckbigtravels726 BTW, It might just be me, but I've noticed somewhere between halfway to 3/4s through each video, my playback stops in a perpetual re-loading/caching that I can only bypass by exiting and reloading the video. Never experienced that on others' videos. Perhaps it's at an edit point. Anyway just mentioning this.
So do you guys both have cdls? Might be a dum question to ask but I was just wondering. First time watcher here great videos so far.
Thanks for finding us, Timmy. I hope you subscribe and great question. Neither one of us has CDL's. Since our truck is titled as private then Texas requires a Class A non-commercial endorsement. We took a road and written test but no CDL requirement. Thanks for the comment. Appreciate you watching the channel. 😊Have a great weekend.
@@bigtruckbigtravels interesting you guys also have a great weekend I’m almost done watching all the video Keep up the great work
Are you able to access Orion with the slides in?
Yes. We designed it that way. We have to crawl over the bed to get to our bathroom but that's easy.
We can get from one end to another. But as David said we do have to crawl over the bed to get to the bathroom.
What Model Is That Volvo.Back In The Day I Drive A Volvo 670 Model.Uall Driveing A Bigger Volvo. That Got A TONS OF CUBBY Holes To Put Stuffs In.
It's a 2016 VNL780. We use the condo area primarily to have lunch and relax. We have used it as a camper on occasion too.
Not sure if I missed it or not but do you do a pull test when you hook up?
Absolutely 💯 Don! Great question! We always do the following when we hook up regardless of mileage to be traveled: check all lights, insure all connections are secure, pull test, all cargo doors are locked (except LP compartment), tire check and general walk around to be sure nothing is unlatched(such as solar panels) and nothing is left behind. Appreciate your comments and your time watching the channel.
We Love eating GOOD meals in Our DOZER..... Fresh Good and Not Fast Food.....!!
We think that is the only way to travel. Home-cooked beats dining out... unless it's Whataburger! Lol
We rarely eat out because the food generally isn't that good and expensive. Plus it's easier to control what we eat on the road rather than getting stuck with whatever a truckstop might have. But I must say David has a way of finding Whataburgers with big parking lots 🤦♀️
@@mrsbigtruckbigtravels726 oh yeah... it's a Whataburger "sixth sense". Lol
Can't u tow the jeep behind Orion??
We could, but Orion is not set up to tow and we don't want to double tow either. We've thought about it recently but just not thrilled with the idea. Thanks for the comments.
@@bigtruckbigtravels okay😁👍 thanks... Love ur rigg it's awesome 👍👍👍
They own a spacecraft RV
Yes. We designed it and asked if SC could build it. They said yes and after 7 months of build time Orion was born. Lots of firsts in our trailer. Lol. It was a process. Thanks for watching and appreciate the comments and your time.
@@bigtruckbigtravels @Mrs Big Truck Big Travels How about a "rig tour" video? I'd love to see all of the big truck and the big RV!
