Vehicles were already possible in Goldsource. Gunman Chronicles has a tank section where you drive through a canyon. It’s pretty jank and highly scripted, but it shows that vehicle sections have been possible for a long time.
The vehicle mechanic originated in CS 1.6. It was a cut feature in early developments. later removed as it didn't suit the gameplay from what i remember. There are alot of custom maps with these vehicles, even today.
Some of the original counterstrike devs actually made a similar game years later that had car combat. basically the terrorists had to stop CTs transporting a VIP along roads. it was amazing until it died. it was called "Tactical Intervention".
Kudos for modifying the file alphabetically! Not many devs I know do this. I'm also an OCD guy that does sort the code to look logically nice and tidy.

John Guthrie had worked on a mod called Quake Cart prior to joining Half-Life 1's development, players could choose different cars and drive around on racetracks. A full "Lambda Cart" mod or something like that would be cool for func_vehicle.

Wait what you have j.a.c.k, I've been looking for RUclipsrs that use it as my brother gave me a copy and I've been looking for well over two years and found two so far, one who directed me to a creator that was posting tutorials and another who was helping me diagnose my problems that I was having with the logic of the functions for lift's tram's and elevator's as well as making curved tunnels or canyons in self built sky boxes, I will say this it's hell of a lot better than the original engine editor
It's funny but totally unnecessary for multiplayer. We need working bhop without speedcap and optional autojump and a server option to allow hosts to use the old spawnsystem and weapon balance...
