MacMillan Bloedel was one of the best things that happened to BC. I know thats a controversial statement, tell me how many families have based mortgages, tuitions, cars, communities, liveliehoods all on the empire formed from HR MacMillan. A true pioneer, just like WAC Bennett.
Not necessarily. I personally know the gentleman who built the Challenger brand truck that went by in the shot. He started logging in his late teens and went on to run some pretty big shows in and around Vancouver Island. All the trucks in his fleet at the time and until he switched to being a truck manufacturer were manual transmissions. Even when all the trucks around him were being made with automatics he just felt that the manual was better (and cheaper to maintain). I'm only telling you what he told me, I do know that he was a successful business person and is well respected in the logging community near and far. His name is John Casanave.
That's a crazy long snorkel. I don't think we here in the states use those at all from what I even rememeber from in the past. Many line loaders like this but no snorkel. Great video ! Check out mine if you get a chance. :) JEFF
That line loader is amazing. Never seen anything quite like it.
If you want to see more heavy equipment check out skadill RUclips channel. He's a walking encyclopedia of machinery. Very knowledgeable fella
MrHuntermikey
I will do that, and thanks!
Awesome. Won't see too many Challenger trucks working. Almost like seeing Bigfoot.

They have lock up converters. All heavy haul trucks have automatics.

When men were men, and we laughed a whole bunch more.

Thee Olde MB days. Most guys didn't know how good they had it back in the day. Look at the Bush now. Gyppo loggers abound.
