  • In this video, we start the process of my SR20DET rebuild by doing some test to confirm that the engine is hurt in addition to giving background on why the engine let go. In this series, we will be doing a full bottom end rebuild which will consist of new upgraded pistons, rods, bearings, and machine work.

Add oil to each cylinder and do a complete test. Ive seen good engines pick up compression when adding oil so its good to keep the test uniform across all cylinders. So for example, If they all go up 20psi, i wouldn't assume its bottom end specific to that cylinder.

Sorry to hear that happened to you too but glad to hear you’re also doing a full bottom end! Maybe we will run into each other at another event and maybe drive together and thanks for sharing what you went with because I still have no clue what brand pistons and rods I should run

@@AimlessJP for sure man! It’s a bummer but a good reason to rebuild even stronger! If you need help finding someone for machine work or assembling the engine let me know. I can point you in the right direction local to Sacramento
