Absolutely in love with my red 2018. I still go to the garage and flip the lights on just to look at her, and find any excuse to go for a drive. It's an emotional attachment, not a numbers driven one.

Use it once and then never touch it again. But you did say that it's all about the characterful driving experience, which is true. The Lexus LC500 is equipped with a 5.0-liter V8 engine that is part of the Yamaha-developed family. It's known for its performance and is designated as the 2UR-GSE engine.
Good for you man! Hope you keep it for a long time. A reliable Japanese naturally aspirated 5.0 V8 gas engine that looks as good as an Aston Martin is going to be sought after very soon. My wife is already convinced so I’m waiting for them to depreciate
The LC500 is definitely a great underrated car that offers a lot compared to a S-class coupe, but I don't think people should compare it to the MKV Supra since both cars are for completely different drivers. There's a reason Toyota didn't base the Supra off the LC as it's in a bigger platform with the LS and more of a gran tourer car than a sports car that can be tracked. It's even bigger than the LFA. A lot of people don't give Toyota so much credit on the MKV even though the platform was co-developed with BMW and it forced the Z4 to be sportier vs the previous ones. I love all Supras, but people do hype up the MKIV a lot even though it's competition outclassed it for less money. Sales were poor and it gained popularity after production through Fast and Furious and video games, but the legendary GTR beating Castrol TOM's Supra didn't even have a 2JZ and instead a 4cyl 3SGTE from a Celica.
My best friend and I are in a constant war of buying nice cars weeks apart. When I ordered my 2021 LC500, he went and got a new 2021 Supra off the lot. It's been 6 months, we drive together weekly, and have done a really nice road trip together in Western Canada. Other than the new Supra being slightly faster, he HATES that car. It's disgustingly uncomfortable, has incredibly short gears and hits redline too fast, highly computerized, no emotion, and terrifyingly "floaty" at anything above 80 kmh. We've chalked it up to the car having two benefits; It looks great and it's very quick. Nowadays he just drives to the Supra to my place so we can take the LC together wherever we go. When you stop to think about actually living with a car, there aren't many things that keep up with the quality of an LC500.
I’ve heard that the hood is so low relative to the engine that for potential pedestrian impacts they installed hydraulic struts that pop the hood up an inches.
Was just looking up random lc500 videos and came across this video and it really shows off how beautiful this car is 😍 also it was cool to see that you’re also in the Lehigh valley lol
your performance assessment only includes half a dozen rips up to 7K rpm, but no feedback on handling and suspension set-up/tuning? otherwise, a good review of a desirable GT.
Looks great, sounds great, not necessarily a functional coupe like the RCF but both are terribly slow for the supposed amount of power they offer. Prob overrated by a bit and being held back by the transmission. Quality is there and it is certainly a unique product that will stand out for years to come.
The biggest issue is 10 speeds and very tall gearing, likely in the interest of meeting stringent fuel economy requirements. Watch where it shifts and you'll see what I'm talking about. They could shorten the first 6 gears by 10-15% and it would make a huge difference. The way it's geared right now the top 4 gears are basically OD gears.
@@mholmes9262 1-7 are the only actual usable gears in the LC for spirited driving. It’s such a shame that nobody has been able to fully crack the Lexus transmissions as a proper tune/regearing would make this a different car. The things that people are able to do with the ford and Chevy 10 speeds (hell even the new Honda/acuras) is actually hilarious
@@sebastianhasbun3846 probably just not a big enough total addressable market to justify the R&D needed for it (it's only used in the LC, LS, Tundra, I believe, all of which sell in small numbers). It makes sense to have shorter gears in a 10A, with the torque multiplying effects it would require less throttle and probably result in better real world fuel economy anyway. Our '20 F150 3.5EB has short gearing in the lower gears and makes effective use of the torque. It could be smoother, though.
.................................. SLO who FREAK'n cars....Speed Kills............More important to Look Gucci and this car has this in spades w/ cheap maintenance and RELIABILITY and Interior is Nicer than Ferrari
@@donaldbanner2185 Even an Elantra has an interior better than a Ferrari lol! And yes, the car has the looks and stellar reliability, but at this price point people are expecting Lexus to keep up with the competition in powertrain development, which is an area they haven't done much in the last 10 years. Yes, the V8 is enough to make it acceptably fast but it's ancient and more so the transmission. For what they charge, Lexus can do a lot better.
Honestly the LC500 might be "a better Lexus" than the LFA. I know that's not the wording you used, the LFA is sure a better performance car in all areas but the LC500 will last hundreds of thousands of miles and high revving V10s do not last very long at all.
Not a supra successor in any way. If anything it resembles the SC400 with it's V8. The SC shares it's platform with the supra but the supra never had a V8

Im sorry guys but I'm waiting for lexus to bring back the wood veneer and elegant wooden steering wheel. I hate a leather steering wheel for it looks cheap and it stains easy. Plastic everywhere with high-tech screens will eventually be outdated. I think you can never go wrong with raw elements like metals and woods that never goes out of style. If this LC500 had the elegant woods from the classic sc430 and a hard top too... It would be a hit with me. Its really dangerous to add too much tech to people who just want to drive a car without worring if the race model mechanical changes... too much stuff to eventually stop working. Give me the body and a beautiful wood interior, with analog speedometer and im good.
Friend of mine brought his 2020 LC500 to the track to run with five of us. I drove it for the first two high speed laps. My take … It’s heavy, cornering is poor. Acceleration is on par with coupes that weigh in at the same, but the Lexus engine retards its torque at mid RPMs which in my case meant substantial downshifts to keep the car competitive. The dash is confusing, knobs and buttons all over. For the price, you could do a lot better with an AMG or M series. At the track, it placed way behind the corvettes, C6 - C8s. The Prius rear end look? Really? For a $100k+ coupe? The front is bad enough.
Sometimes we forget that ALL Lexus vehicles are built with reliability as a core deliverable. I agree that there is plenty of room to upgrade performance but it comes at the expense of reliability which contradicts their prime directive.
The seats are real semi-aniline leather as I said in the video. It is the dash and other parts that are synthetic. Many automakers are using and have been using a combination of synthetic leathers for some time now. BMW uses their own SensaTec and Mercedes uses MB-Tex, etc...
All coupes have tight rear seating, usually the leg room unless you pull the front seats all the way up. I've owned many coupes over the years all of them had tight rear seating. If you need to carry people back there you buy a sedan. I have a lexus RC350 now when I bought it I new nobody would ever sit back there.
Try the rear seats on an Aston or 8 series, then tell me if the rear seats are comfortable. If I need rear seats on a coupe, the only option is the s class coupe.
Absolutely! As long as you don't need the rear seats for people. Also, the door handles, while it makes the experience special, it does get old if you use it as a daily. This is why I wish they would just pop up as you approach the car with the key fob in your pocket.

I rented the LC500 and now have a Supra. Make no mistake; the Supra is FAR more fun to drive. It is also much faster and 1000 lbs lighter. Of course, if your goal is quiet cruising without concern for fuel mileage, the LC500 is just fine. In between is the LC500h that gets better mileage than both the Supra and LC500.
Why are you comparing two VASTLY different cars that are not even from the same manufacturer? But I'll play... You know what's FAR more fun to drive than a MK5 Supra? An M2... A Corvette C7, and C8 if found around msrp and faster, a ZL1, a Hell Cat... an ACTUAL Supra...
@Miguelsgarage I've rented a fairly new LC, McLaren 570S, Porsche 911 4S, Jag F-type, BMW i8, C7 and C8 Corvettes, and even a Vanderhall Venice. I also own an NC MX5. To me, the GR Supra is the best bang for the buck, and it is more reliable than any GM or Dodge product. Besides, it is more unique than all but the McLaren and i8. I don't want a sports car that blends in with the others you mentioned, especially the M2.
No, not really. I usually have an 80s car in my stable and most of the time, I have to use the key itself to open it. I enjoy that process! But on a modern Lexus, when all their other cars unlock for you when you approach it, this one should be the same...
I always undestood LC500 as sort of reincarnation of what BMW e31 originally wanted to be 30 years ago but its idea was too ahead in those times considering technological era it originated from. LC500 got it later on, all the technology avanced enough. I wonder if it would be worth to rebuild LC500 into stripped out raw supercharged version with manual gearbox and delete of everything what can be omitted....would it be pure V8 ride exciting enough if all unnecessary gadgets and comfort are gone?
Interesting take… I always saw it as a progression stemming all the way back from the 2000GT and all that followed like the Celica XX, the Soarer, and obviously the SC…
Good review but you would get way more clicks if you named the video "I rented a 2018 Lexus LC500 and IMMEDIATELY Loved it | POV" That more succinctly summarizes the content.
Great video! I am considering selling my 2018 LC 500 because I figure the miles are high (40,024 to be exact) and the market for used cars is a seller's dream. In your opinion, at what mileage would I lose value in this car?
I looked at a used 18’ LC500 yesterday. It had 29k miles and was listed for $72k. I ran when I found out it had a front end collision on the carfax. Seemed overpriced to me given the history
Your already in the high mileage range for an LC ..I look at them weekly I’d definitely get out by 50k if value is a concern with those miles your already at 70k retail not trade in etc
You are right at that point . After 40 k most people don’t have much more miles . That being said I have seen 60k trying to sell for like only 4k less , but we are in strange times . So selling now is good and safe . U may wait and start to loose more .
Re: this being the Supra we never got, my LC should be here this week and I'm deciding between LFAJR and REALMK5 as the two vanity plate options. Problem is that a Mk5 Supra is faster to 60, so if I ever pull up next to one it will be embarrassing :-)
Lexus lc is terrible car, suspension is obsolete, engine is worse than on mustang, transmission is garbage. How can one call it a sports car? It is beefed up supra nothing more. And yes who can compare it to the sporty f type? What a joke. I was driving lc, I am sorry, if someone says it is fun, then they never tried Porsche, Corvette, or jags.

I was thinking of getting the new 2024 AMG GT because of speed and sound. After seeing a lot of youtube videos about the LC 500, it is growing on me. I will plance a bestook order this weekend.
Beware- the bespoke version does not offer a lot of the options available on the regular LC 500 - like the rear differential and rear wheel steering. Also, I’d wait to see what the 2025 LC 500 has to offer before ordering the 2024 version. This is what I am planing to do-waiting for the new 2025 models of both the AMG GT and the LC 500. The AMG GR 55/63 is at least $40K more expensive, but it’s also 100 % more vehicle with a TT V8, equally great exhaust count, plush interior, 11 cubic feet of storage space, fold-down rest seats, better seats with massage/lumbar/variable bolster capabilities, better cabin ambient lighting, better electronics, etc. Finally, it’s a Mercedes AMG hand built engine and that says enough!

To me, the GR Supra is the best bang for the buck, and it is more reliable than any GM or Dodge product. Besides, it is more unique than all but the McLaren and i8.
I don't want a sports car that blends in with the others you mentioned, especially the M2.
The challenge, difficulty and inconvenience you must have to press a button.
This is why you don’t rent out your cars 😂
Am I the only who missed the 'regret' part in this video?
It pisses me off when I see automotive journalists speeding through residential neighborhoods, and I am not a cop. Take it to the track!
😢😢
@@davis7323not every city has a track
5 seconds to 60? Isn’t that kind of slow?
My dream car.. currently driving an is350 will not upgrade until i can afford this bad boy 🥹
Amazing review! Respect!
Much appreciated! Glad you enjoyed it!!
Good review but you would get way more clicks if you named the video "I rented a 2018 Lexus LC500 and IMMEDIATELY Loved it | POV" That more succinctly summarizes the content.
2:20 - It weighs more than what ?????
😂😂😂 Lizzo's and Nikki Minaj's ass.
Lol, Lizzo and Nicki Minajs butt.. please Google "Lizzo butt" and the joke will make sense 😆
BMW 7 -series got the best seats.
It's about the driving experience
@@123-z5o2c Great advice, thank you! Do you believe that is true even in this market where used cars are slim to none due to the chip shortage?
It's time to say goodbye unless you really want to keep the car, but with the economic situation, cash is good. You could purchase some gold.🍻
You are right at that point . After 40 k most people don’t have much more miles . That being said I have seen 60k trying to sell for like only 4k less , but we are in strange times . So selling now is good and safe . U may wait and start to loose more .
I clicked on this video and instantly regretted it
LC not for you ordinary people.
Go to LS500 need more room
Some of us have kids that are grown and we don’t need a sedan anymore. Beside, the wife have the GX or LX already if need to carry more people.
2:17, was so fkn unexpected😂😂
Gotta keep you on your toes!! 😂
The center seat trim looks like Alcantera
LC500 feels like a real successor for MKIV Supra
Nah. Supra needs a straight 6
An Elegant, comfortable sleeper.
Re: this being the Supra we never got, my LC should be here this week and I'm deciding between LFAJR and REALMK5 as the two vanity plate options.
Problem is that a Mk5 Supra is faster to 60, so if I ever pull up next to one it will be embarrassing :-)
Only children care about drag racing on the streets. However, this is just a few fractions of a second slower, not a whole lot.
Also, the Supra should've looked like the FT-1 concept. 🙀🙀🙀
@@Asiansxsymbol exactly. This is a gentlemen GT. Who cares about drag race, If I want to drag race I go get a Tesla Model S.
Neither, please
@@jjasonSU yeah, not gonna drag race nor getting a Tesla……Former is stupidly childish and latter is boring other than acceleration.
"Engine output doesn't look good on paper."
480hp?
I also won't listen to anyone who says this noise about door handles. Dodged the rest, tx.
I watched this video and immediately regretted it
if it was 1,000 lb lighter, I would have the keys in my hand already.
Have you driven it? Trust me, it doesn’t feel as heavy.
You do know that's impossible right?
Lexus lc is terrible car, suspension is obsolete, engine is worse than on mustang, transmission is garbage. How can one call it a sports car? It is beefed up supra nothing more. And yes who can compare it to the sporty f type? What a joke. I was driving lc, I am sorry, if someone says it is fun, then they never tried Porsche, Corvette, or jags.
@@peteri1984It’s a grand tourer and you’re comparing it to track cars. It’s funny how people on RUclips always have to find any reasons they can to hate a car. I’m willing to bet most people saying “______ is a terrible car” have never actually engineered a car before.
@@peteri1984troll
Gorgeous car. Beyond my affordability. Maybe if they made an LC300. Lol
They have a hybrid with a V6, but it's actually more expensive than the V8 lol
Car rental companies are some of the most scumbags industry out there
1:21 "infamous" Why are you saying the was infamous? Change that to "legendary" or something like that. There was no infamy around the SC.
I love my Mercedes C300 but the LC500 is def next.
Miguel, your expectations dont align with the at time constraints of reality. You should understand this.
What expectations are we talking about? I said a lot in the video…
just dispute payment with bank
Exactly how did he let it go this far and which company
The whole thing is beautiful til you get to that grill. Weird shape and like when rappers get chrome or diamond teeth. I can only imagine taking 6 hrs cleaning bugs out of it too. You have to go around every single one of those little squares.
Is it just me or does the front end look like the literal head of a bull terrier lol
Just you LOL
Where can I rent ?
which lexus grey is this?
such a troll title. Once I heard the explanation I left immediately lol
Then you definitely missed out on the best part of the video! lol
Too bad they dropped the ball on the infotainment system.
3:08 sorry this is my fault, I talked a lot of shit about my Lexus automatically unlocking itself when I put it in park, they must have changed this for me! 😂
Great review.
Bom vídeo meu amigo. Já moras nos States há muito tempo?
Abraço
Do they make a manual version of this?
You can manually shift the transmission with paddle shifters. There is no manual transmission option.
Ct5 black wing or this....dammit my head hurts...
Agree should be another screen. They could've put one for the passenger to watch Netflix or RUclips
WORK OF ART!!!
Love this 🚗
Great GT tourer, terrible sports car. Looks and sounds great but SLOW
Needs AWD for us in northern climates. Otherwise I stick to an RS car from Audi.
It’s all id ever need or want.
The question is, when are you getting one?
Good review. Funny lol.
Glad you enjoyed it
This video released a couple of years ago. I hope your pronunciations and tone has improved. I couldn't makeout Calty Design Research. It sounded like "call-to design research". Thats where i stopped watching this video
Love the car ❤
The question is... When are you getting one?
Nice car!
4:32 I’d say Volvo is a strong contender here
Red exterior tan interior is the only color for this car.
