Never thought of putting them in a bol, good idea. I use my Dawn liquid dishes and it’s very good for the greasy brushes. For my sponges I put them, wet, in my washing machine.
Great tips, thank you! I got so tired of using up all my brushes and then having to spend 30 minutes cleaning them all! Now, I clean them weekly, so it takes less than 5 min. Much less stress! 😂😂 Have a great weekend! ☺
Love the oil tip! I throw my sponges in a small laundry bag and wash them with my towels each week. They seem to always come out clean and no issues, but I think I’ll use the oil tip on them first now. 🇨🇦🇨🇦
Thank you for showing us how to clean makeup brushes, sponges, etc. Loved the tip for the stainless steel sink! I follow much the same process as you do, but I use a small fan pointed at the brushes on the towel to help with the drying time.
Does anyone else hate to get their nice clean brushes/sponges dirty again? Such a good system, especially the almond oil tip. I always struggle getting foundation out of that BK Beauty brush. Thanks so much, your videos are always such a pleasure.
This is so wild! On Friday, I decided that I needed to clean my makeup brushes on Saturday. Thank you so much for sharing this. It really helped me. Again, thank you and God bless you. 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Hi Sharalee! Such great tips - especially to use some almond oil to help break down the makeup first. I am definitely going to try that along with some of that Dr. Bronner's soap. Always learn something from you 😀😘
I use a bar of soap to clean my brushes, but also have the EcoTools brush cleaner. I clean my eye brushes after every use, and foundation ones maybe after two uses, and brushes used for blush, bronzer and highlighter after a week. I try to spend a few minutes a day cleaning brushes, otherwise they pile up and I will run out. While I don't use it to clean brushes, I just picked up the Dr. Bronner's castile soap in Almond scent and I am obsessed! I am going to pick up the unscented too and use it to create my own liquid hand soaps. Good video!
I thankfully got into the habit of washing my makeup brushes after every use. The dense foundation brushes are definitely the hardest to do. I haven’t thought to use oil for breaking down the toughest problem brushes. Good tip! The thought of washing a big batch like this is daunting. Since I wear lots of cream products, I’ve just never felt that it’s right to reuse a dirty brush.
I'm so glad you found this helpful! Yes, baby shampoo is generally ok to use since it is pretty gentle....that was what I started with too. But you'll be shocked how much easier all the makeup comes off with the Dr. Bronner's soap!😘
Quite a cleaning project you tackled and you were fast. Voila everything was sparkling clean. I bought the cleaner you use awhile back it’s time again for me to do my cleaning project. Must do that soon. Thanks for all your tips. They’re always helpful. 💓😍💓
Hi Sharalee, you answered my question about baby shampoo. I washed my brushes and while it was a big improvement I’m not satisfied. I ordered the Dr. Bronner’s yesterday. Thanks for this great video. God bless!
@@SharaleesBoxOfChocolates Sharalee I used the Dr Bronner’s almost as soon as it arrived. I rewashed the brushes that weren’t completely clean. Wow! It is a drastic difference. I think it’s the first time my foundation brush has ever been completely clean. Thank you so, so much for this recommendation. Much love! ❤️
I use the Sibu cleansing bar just on my face and then use the Soap and Glory "Smoothie Star Rich and Foamous" on the body. I never feel like my skin is dry or tight after cleansing with the Sibu. Another recommendation would be the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser. That one is especially gentle😘
Super helpful! Gosh, just last night, I erroneously used my rubber brush cleaner for one of my makeup sponges! Yikes! I ruined it! I love the idea of using the almond oil for stains or caked on makeup! 🥰🥰🥰
OH, This was WONDERFUL! I bought some brush and sponge cleaner at ULTA, but I really LOVE the brush mat you have...Where did you get that?? Also, your bar soap, where did you get that too? As usual, this was so just what I needed to see on this very cold, snowy day here in Kentucky! LOL.... Thanks, my friend!
The brush mat is from Sigma and the bar soap I get at either Target, Sprouts or iherb.com. Stay warm and enjoy some of that beautiful snowy weather for me!❄️😘
SUPER helpful video!! So, are there substitute for the bar or liquid soap as well? I only have Dawn dishwashing liquid, which I use for all assorted things with great outcome 👍🏻 Also, I do have a peach bar soap I picked up at Dollar Tree, would something like these works ya think? Thank You for all that you do!! 😘🤗
I really need to do this! Having clean brushes/sponges is very important in makeup application. Especially when using a new foundation or other new product. Have you ever tried the ELF solid sponge cleaner? I love that stuff for cleaning my sponges.
@@SharaleesBoxOfChocolates Thank you for soft soap information. I will try to find some other soap . You always have some much information. Thank you so much. Jan Rodriguez
Hi Precious Sharalee!! Great vid & good to see lots of brushes getting clean as to cleaning 1 brush is simple but alot at a time doesnt seem to take much time at all...also great idea in using the oil bc sometimes it can be annoying when you cant get all the makeup out!! Yes, you can! I haven't done it yet but my understanding is you add a credit card onto Rakuten, link store offers to the card and then go shopping! In the app, you'll see a link (mine shows at the bottom of the screen) that says "In-Store". When you click on it, it will walk you through the process😍
You never should let water near the metal hardware as it will loosen up the glue or pull on the hair or bristles they will fall apart by doing it your way. To dry to put them on a towel and than hang them upside down on a brush holder. I would NEVER use any cleaner that had oils or fragrance as you could contaminate your makeup product. I used to work on movie sets and watched the makeup artists.

Super helpful! Love the tip of using oil to break up the cream products!!! So smart!!
I'm sure you're very glad to have nice clean brushes again! Thank you for sharing your process, my friend!
Oh yes, I sure am!! Nothing like getting to use a fresh, clean brush to apply makeup in the morning😘
Would you mind sharing how you store all of your make-up, brushes, etc?
Yes!! I just recently did a video showing this...I'll link it below😘

Can you use soft soap to clean your brushes?
I'd be hesitant just because I feel like it may be a little too harsh on the bristles.
