I would recommend that you face the bristle down when drying that way the excess water can get out of the holes. Otherwise standing water could create mold, kind of like a child's bath toy.

I started washing my brushes regularly a few months ago and I have noticed a HUGE difference in how greasy my hair gets! Over the years I tried everything to make my hair less oily and washing my brushes has been the only thing to significantly decrease how oily my hair is. My hair feels so much more clean and healthy now, I was shocked at how big of a difference it was from before!
@@AmandaLiz72 once a week is probably best for most people. I use tons of oils and oil based products in my hair and I don’t wash my hair often so I find myself cleaning it more sometimes, because I wanna be able to go awhile without washing my hair but in order for that you need to remove all the product build up, grease, dirt etc.
Thank you for addressing the lint! I started getting in the habit of pulling the hairs out of my brush every time I brush my hair, but I’ve noticed the lint lingers on the brush and gets caught in those little beads on the bristles. Definitely needed to see this!!!
I remove the hair from my brush immediately after every time I use it. I just... don't want to use a hairbrush with old hairs left on it? That sounds rather gross to me. Actually *washing* my brush is something I've never even thought of, though. Thanks for the tip, Kayley!
THIS IS THE VIDEO I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR MY WHOLE LIFE! I always took the hair out of my brushes, but didn't know what to do with the lint balls. I would use my fingernails to get it out manually, but that was tedious. I will try this method now. Thank you!

The lint is so annoying I'm hoping this video helps me get rid of the lint balls in my wet brush and my one teasing brusg my tangle teasers brush I can get the lint out easly sense the bristles on my ultimate detangler doesn't have those ball like tips
That "lint" is mostly dead skin cells. THAT'S why we clean our combs and brushes! BTW, there are comb and brush cleaners made for soaking that will partially dissolve a lot of the debris that collects in them. Also, a cheap nail brush is great for scrubbing brushes and combs. (retired hairstylist) Thanks for reminding everyone to do this!⚘
What is some of the brush cleaners name of product and brand name? Would be very useful i like having a specific cleanser for the task at hand one of the things that makes me kinda hesitant to clean my brushes I don’t want damage or the cleaning option to add it’s own layer of film or cleanser residue lol like I think j&j head to toe baby wash might despite being a non soap cleanser lol can people buy these cleansers without a Cosmo license or is it something I have to ask my stylist to purchase for me if I ask nicely? Lol let’s be real she would we are friends because when you are a client for so long if we hadn’t become friends it would be seriously concerning why I was still trusting her with my hair with my butt in her salon chair after all these years rofl.
I'm a teenager and honestly I've never deep cleaned my hairbrushes before. The most I've ever done was take out the hair. So thank you so much for this video they look so much better than I've seen them in a long time!

This was so helpful! I always wondered where that lint was coming from. My hair is VERY oily naturally. I typically pulled the hair off my comb/brush after every use, but I never rinsed it! Doing this in the future. Thanks!
Have you ever used hair sticks? Would love to see you put a Kayley spin on hair stick updos, or maybe like a pencil-bun student/teacher hairstyles video!
Omg yes!! Hair sticks are my favourite to use and you can do multiple different styles w/ them I would love to see Kayley incorporating some braids into it
I just recently got into hair sticks! I love them. One of my other favorite hair RUclipsrs has a good video on them: ruclips.net/video/pixgHmqwiII/видео.html
As an obsessive hair brush cleaner (long hair, tangly, don't use much product), I cannot abide leaving hair in my brush every day. Yesterday I bought a combo boar bristle and plastic-tipped hair brush and just love it! So much less hair breakage. Thank you for making this video. I learned so much about cleaning my brushes. I will be buying a hair brush rake. Didn't even know they make them! Thank you again.
When a brush got too dirty i used to throw it out, but last week i filled a container with warm water, put detergent on my brush, and used our ikea dish brush to go at it. I always remove excess hair from my brush every time i use it, so it was mainly getting the oils and dead skin out. Took me less than 5 min and it looks brand new again!
Funnily enough, it’s my husband that washes my brushes about once a year when he notices how gross they are 🤣 I’m good about regularly removing hair from the bristles and trying to keep the pom poms out, but dead skin, lint, etc. still accumulate at the base on the plastic. I think next time I shower, I’ll bring my brush in with me and clean it! Thanks for this video.
Years and years back I invested in a bamboo brush with boars bristles. Before then I had never learned how to clean brushes but it's been so important to keeping my brush functional and my hair and scalp healthier! I'm happy to learn that my cleaning steps line up with yours, it's always good to learn you're doing something right. This video had me picking up my little hair rake to use on my brush while watching!
I’ve noticed the build up in my brushes, particularly after getting the hairs off (which i do once every two or three uses tbh) for a long time now, but it hasn’t really bothered me until recently, I started getting squirmish about it and wondering how I could clean that up effectively that wasn’t trying to pull them off one by one with my fingernails, which I tried a few times but it was tedious and kind of disgusting. Then you come up with this video. It is awesome. Thanks for the mind connection thousands of miles away, I’m gonna clean up my brushes right now girl
I was just thinking about this the other day, gazing in dismay at my brushes and wondering if it was actually possible to get them properly clean. They always get this sort of...little circle of yuck around the base of each bristle and I have on occasion gone through and manually sort of plucked each one off ( by sort of grabbing it with my nails and pulling it up and over the bristle), but that kind of repetitive action can make me feel really nauseated, so i can't always face the idea of doing it, so the brush goes away somewhere out of sight to be forgotten. Now? Now I might give it another go. I just need a rake thingie and a cheap toothbrush...and some sort of soap-style product (sooo...just need to buy literally everything you mentioned, that's all).
Trying to manually pluck all of them off is the same kind of feeling as trying to pluck your leg hair out one by one with a tweezer lmao. How time consuming and seemingly never ending that endeavor feels to be gives that nauseating feeling, I get it too for sure. Hate those little yuck circles!
@@justynawisniewska1213 Totally! And the other thing is that, in any brush with the little nobbly cap things on the ends of the bristles, I'd always end up pulling loads of those off in the yuck-circle extraction process.
@@FlailTV Yesss which just makes me stop immediately when the balls start coming off. I feel like the easiest solution is using tangle-teezer kind of brushes that don't have the balls on top. They are the easiest brush to clean.
@@FlailTV I was sticking to tangle teezer for years but influencer marketing convinced me to get the Wet Brush... guess I forgot the struggle. Big mistake.
I literally have never washed my brush before because I didn’t know how so needless to say it can use a good cleaning 😫 looks like I know what I’m doing this weekend! Thank you so much for the tips!
I’m a hairdresser so: My work brushes are cleaned and barbicided between each use, thoroughly and would definitely be a tweezer getting every last pompom situation. My home brushes get a daily hair Matt pulled out and monthly quick scrub with antibac, if I think about it 😂 My best tip is to use an old tint brush! Long pointy handle and lots of long bristles in a thin strip that can absolutely get everywhere
Tangle teeter is the easiest one, I put some liquid soap on a nail brush and scrub under running water. Takes about 30 seconds. Natural hair brushes are more difficult so hear for some tips.
I made it a regular habit to take the hair off of my brushes each time I use them. It just feels really nice to have a fresh brush every time you use them 😊
I've been waiting for a video like this. No one in my family knows how to clean hair brushes myself included. Idk why I never requested a video like this.
I just want to thank you for this "clean your brush" video. I kept buying Aveda wooden paddle brushes because I didn't know a good way to clean them without ruining them before. Now they are all like new again. Thank you so very much!!!
I have never washed my hairbrushes before! I clean the hair out but never washed. I will now! It makes so much sense. I clean my makeup brushes why not the hair brushes! Thank you so much! Love your channel!
Oh my goodness I am so glad you made this video thank you! I have been buying so many brushes whenever they got dirty, not realizing that they were able to be cleaned up. And it saves lots of money on brushes! Thank you so much for your help😊
This video came at the best time! Last weekend, my boyfriend asked to borrow a brush and when I went to grab it, I felt embarrassed because it looked so bad with buildup!!! LOL. (so bad I know) . This is when I realized I had let my brush get dirty for too long. I had no idea how to clean my brush until now, so thank you! will be doing this, this weekend!!! :)
Hairdresser here, never washed my personal brushes at home and they were getting to the point I couldn't ignore it anymore. But didn't know how to start cause cosmetology school doesn't teach us how lol. Thank you for breaking it down and making not as intimidating as I thought it was💗💓🌹
I'm worried that my Wet Brush will get water trapped under the pad thing and it will get moldy. How do you make sure it's dry under there after cleaning?
I also have a wet brush and I squish the pad with a towel to get it as try as possible, if you squish it and no little water bubbles show then you should be good. The rest will just evaporate if left in a dry environment. Don't put your brush in the sun! Plastic hates sun.
I don’t submerge my wet brush in water. I just wash it over the sink sideways or pointing downwards. It gets clean, less chance of water under the pad.
I’m a hairstylist and I regularly submerge my wet brush in barbicide solution. I squish as much out with a dry towel and then I actually blowdry one corner of the wet brush pad, which forces excess water out of the other side!
Great video! I learned from my mom some 50 years ago - she cleaned everybody’s hair tools on a regular basis, and most were beautiful woods with boar bristles. She used ammonia, but somehow managed to keep the wood parts out of the solution in a long glass dish. My family always had beautiful hair. I, on the other hand, have mostly plastic hair tools anymore. I typically use the tallest vessels I have, which are a 20-year-old enormous drink container and a vertical asparagus steamer. I start with a cheap rattail comb to remove the hair masses. After submerging in an ammonia solution for a few minutes, I vigorously roll each brush’s bristles against another’s to dislodge every ‘bit’ of buildup and remaining hair the rattail didn’t pick out. Nothing ever escapes that! Then I rinse them all under hot running water. I dry every brush bristles-down or on its brush end, never flat with bristles up. Until your video and a few others, I’d never heard of using baking soda! So I just tried it - half a box of (expired) baking soda, a splash of Dawn dishwashing detergent, and 3 quarts of boiling water. No noxious ammonia. The solution worked so well, I tossed all my goto hair accessories sans headbands (which I’d never cleaned before) in for good measure. All came out squeaky clean. FWIW, my post-cleaning solution didn’t look anywhere near the satisfying brown other YT-ers have seen. Too, don’t forget to clean your hairdryer’s inlets on a regular basis. Of course, you can’t use water for it, but it’s important to do it so your appliances’ motors don’t burn out. Cleaning the grills requires tweezers, picks, and time. But it really matters, not only re airflow but to prevent fire. Sadly, every hairdryer on the US market is imported anymore, and not a one is screened for UL-approved authenticity. I’ve actually met women whose hairdryers have gone up in flames when using, only to find the manufacturers are fly-by-night and the retailers blow their complaint off.
I get 90% of the hair out after every brushing but today I was actually trying to get rid of those few stubborn ones that get left behind... there are still one or two but it is mostly hair free I do need to clean off the buildup though... I have been staring at it in hopes it goes away when your video poped up xD I can see those dust flakes sticking to the bristles, but I already washed it last week!
This was amazing! I was ready to replace my wet brush because I couldn’t get the pompoms out after using tweezers and scissors. The soapy water and toothbrush made all the difference! Thank you!
I remove the hair from my brushes constantly, but it's filled with little white pompoms. I knew I had to Google it- the knowledge had to be out there somewhere- I just never got the motivation to actually do it. Awesome video, specially since I have one of those "fancy brushes." 😀 Don't know if Google would have included that info.
never thought I'd watch a video about how to clean... anything but I'm very grateful for your video. I agree with your initial comment, one does spent a lot of one's grown up life cleaning up stuff... a lot!
My favorite hairbrush is from Italy because I completely forgot my toiletries bag back home for my wedding. I want it to last forever even if it is from the Dollar Store, so thank you so much for this!!
Awesome video, I have never come across a hair brush cleaning tutorial before, really glad you made this. One tip I have is when the hair on your round brush is wound super tight, use a thread ripper (you can buy these in dollar stores or in fabric stores) to cut the hairs at the base along one side of the brush. This way you can remove the hair on a round brush in one "sheet" like you would any other brush. ♥♥♥
I love fuzzy blankets so I'm alwaus picking out little fuzzies but never thought of using tweezers! Thanks for that idea! My great aunt always washed her brushes so it's something I do regularly and rinse them every few days. Love a clean hair brush! 💜
Had to pause video to order a rake. I think this is what I'm missing! I've watched loads of hair brush cleaning videos. My hair loes lint! I currently use a comb to clean my brushes but I end up having to pick bits out with my fingers and it drives me mad. So excited for this new tool. Thank you so much! Who knew this was a thing?!
☺️💕😚 Love this! As a fellow hairstylist THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS. I can't tell you how many times I've discussed with customers the state of their hairbrushes and when they tell me it's ways horrific xD Clean your brushes people! And replace them as needed(:
Lint has been the ban of my existence for my entire hair life. I've been reduced to throw away way too many brushes than I care to admit because they couldn't fill their purpose anymore. Thank you so much !
Thanks for the tip on the hair rake!!! I've been shedding like crazy lately, so I've been cleaning my brush pretty regularly. The toothbrush was another perfect tip, thank you for sharing all this info!!!🤘😘🌻
Thank you a million times - those lint pom poms have been driving me crazy for years!! nice to know im not the only one obsessed about them, and that it really is necessary to pick at each one with tweezers - I'll save this job for video chats with my long distance girlfriends!🤩
So much good info Kayley!! The struggle of picking the lint from the bristle base is real 😅 lately... I’ve been going brush free 😳 yes really! I’ve noticed my natural curls look so much better that way! It just requires a bit of patience to do all the detangling with my fingers. 😇💁🏻♀️🙃
I’m someone that would love to pick the lint balls off with tweezers so thank you! I am compelled to pull the hair out each time I use the brush and have been wanting to find a good way to really clean it for a while so thank you!
Usually I just remove the hair and wash my brush with shampoo in the shower every few times I wash my hair, but I'll definitely be working a more proper soak like this into my routine going forward.
I’m very excited to try this out Ive learned so much through trial and error on my hair journey and it’s so satisfying to find new bits to integrate into the routine ❤
I own two brushes, one that I use in the shower to evenly coat my hair with conditioner and the other is one I use when my hair is dry .... I didn't think about it when I used it on my Halloween wig that I dyed and now the bristles are stained black 😩 But it was an old, cheap brush so maybe it's just time for a new one. I am generally a mess but surprisingly my hair brushes are very clean, I get rid of the hairs almost every time I use them and I thoroughly wash them maybe every 4-6 weeks 🥳
😉😉😉 I've washed my brush twice since getting it about 5 months ago, I got a free mini rake with it that I use about every two weeks. Before the rake I used any pointy thing close to me. Love the little rake. It's so satisfying 😂
With my hairbrushes, I use them both on my hair and on my 3 cats and 1 dog, so learning how to clean the brushes is very important. The ideas you suggest for how to remove the build up on round brushes is the reason I watched your video. I'm also a Capricorn, but never realized my desire to purchase things immediately after I realize I have a "need" for something was related to being a Capricorn. I may use the tweezer idea, depending on how I feel after my chemo appointments.
Perfect. Now that my hair is about 18 inches long post Covid I noticed my detangler brushes had lots of lint. I tried picking this out with a tweezers but it was hard work. I noticed there was some grease when you compressed the lint. So new routine now as you suggested. A good wash , toothbrush and a tweezers for the more stubborn collections of lint. Many thanks for your helpful video.
Thanks for the tip about the tweezers! I generally pull those little pompoms off with my fingernails and about half the time they take the little plastic ball on the tip of the bristle with them. That's generally how I gauge when it's time to buy a new brush; enough of the balls are gone that the brush is starting to feel scratchy on my scalp. 😱 I adore my current brush; it's made of wood with a mix of boar and nylon bristles and was ridiculously cheap for the quality (bestool on Amazon). It also came with a very nice little cleaning rake and a cloth bag to keep it in. Even though it wasn't expensive, I want to make it last (you never know when stuff is going to be discontinued, also why be wasteful) so thanks for this video!
❤️😃🎉 I cleaned my brushes a few weeks ago but noticed the pom poms this morning and was thinking a need to know how to clean it better! This is amazing!!
Every time I brush my hair, I pull the hair out of my brush...every single time. However, my hair is way passed my bum so having really long hairs left in my brush is a complete no no. I don't know how anyone could keep hairs in theirs brushes though. It would drive me insane, lol. Lee x
OMG!! Thank you so much. It never crossed my mind that I had to wash my round brushes, I just took the hair out of them. I washed them as you taught and they are great!!
🍂🦃❄️ I would be a tweezer person for sure! I don’t think my brushes are too bad right now, I mostly use them when my hair is wet before products and I regularly remove the hair built up. But that being said I also can’t say I look at them too closely lol Thanks for sharing, Kayley!
I remove hair from my brushes after every use and have wanted to wash them more frequently, but got a bit overwhelmed at all the lint balls that just never seemed to go away. (Will definitely remember tweezers!) 🙈🙈 I finally had enough and found your video! Thank you!👍👍👍
Funny, I washed my brushes a couple of weeks ago. Took the with me in the shower and used a color brush (the one that’s used to apply dye to hair) and scrubbed the heck out of it. Very satisfying.
Best thing for my curly wavy hair was to get rid of all brushes that have those little balls at the end of the bristles. Just invest in tangle teaser, a wet brush or anything similar of ANY price point. No more pulling on my hair plus so much easier to clean because the hair and gunk just flows out of it with minimal trouble when I give in and must wash them.
I usually just bring my brush with me into the shower every few days to clean them, I live in an apartment where dust magically appears so the brushes collect lint like crazy 🤢
This video was so helpful!!! I always cleaned the hair out but after a while of having the dust build up, I’d throw out the brush and buy a new one. I got so tired of having to do this every few months. Thank you for this video, I now know how to clean my hair brush!!☺️
Such a helpful video! Thank you! I have a fancy brush, made of bamboo, and this was the first video I've watched where I learned how to wash it properly. Off I go to give it a (not soaking) bath!
This was really helpful! Thank you. I am the type that pulls the excess hair out every time I brush, but I do have some of those little Pom poms built up on my wet brush. The tweezer tip is genius! And I need to start sanitizing as well. Thank you again! ☺️🙏
I just watched this and went straight to clean my brush. Thank you, I was wondering for many years how to really get rid off all that dirt around the bristles!
I have so much hair and it so long I pull hair off the brush every day if not every other day. But I never knew what to do about the “lint buddies”. THANKS KAYLEY!!!!
This was such a big help.. I had sat down with a terrible brush 😱 and went to pick the dust ball things out manually but then thinking I'd have to buy a new one but did a quick Google search and your video came up.. 😅 I still need to pick a few out but goodness.. this was a life saver! Thank you! 😊
I like how organized and informative you are in this video because other videos will just show you very basic steps.Thank you so much for this video!! 10/10♥😁
🎉thanks so much for this awesome, very informative, and helpful video! My brushes have always been in rough shape! But all that changed today! Couldn’t express my appreciation enough! ❤
Superb video. I'm a bloke who has used the same hair brush for 2 years & it's probably time to clean it (Don't judge. That's so unattractive). Anyway, I was looking for a rigorous but not arduous process to clean my hair brush. So I was delighted to find your solution. Seems like a very reasonable approach. Personally, I think if I'm going to mend my ways & clean it more regularly, then I should invest in a rake. Thanks for that tip.
I was honestly contemplating very recently about cleaning my brushes, but I had absolutely no idea how to. I always just buy new brushes when I feel it’s necessary… I never thought of even looking it up for some tips. My hair is dyed, and it’s been a vibrant colour for majority of my adult life… so you can imagine with the lack of hair washing to maintain it’s colour, alongside the product build up, it was going to be so satisfying getting through it all. I’m so glad your video was in my recommendations 🤩
This helped a ton!! I usually just throw my brushes out and buy a new one, I have oily hair so now it makes sense why so much lint is in it! But I have a leopard print one now that I love and it’s soft and was very pricey so don’t wanna throw it out. Definitely about to clean it
thank you! my other hairbrushes were fairly easy to clean, but i recently got a wooden boar brush that catches lint so easily and even after i wash it it doesn’t seem clean so this is soo helpful thank you again!
Every couple days I use a fine tooth comb to clean out my hair brush. The only thing I have a problem with is the lint build up over time...so I'm going to use your old toothbrush trick and see how well that does. Thank you!👍🏼🤗🥰💕
Ah I’m glad that you made and I searched up this video. I’ve tried this before but with cold water, and I can definitely see the difference, and how the hot water got it much cleaner. Great vid!
This was super helpful. I pull the hairs out of my brush consistently but always noticed the lint pompoms (which cute word to describe them) & even though I try my best to pull the them off its difficult to get them off. My best friend always makes comments how my brushes aren't clean enough with the way I was doing it. This was so much easier. Wish I would found this sooner cause they look so much better. Can't wait to see the difference using them on my hair will be. My hair is about you length & super wavy & gets knots easy so hopefully this helps
What a great video! I was just thinking about how I need to clean one of my favorite hair brushes. Using an unused toothbrush works wonders.. One thing you didn't mention is that we can all obtain barbicide from sally's beauty and soak the brushes that can be soaked in it for 10 mins and for fancier brushes put it in a spray bottle and spray down the brush. This sanitizes them and gets off any extra bacteria and what not. (Cosmo student here for those wondering how ik this).

I would recommend that you face the bristle down when drying that way the excess water can get out of the holes. Otherwise standing water could create mold, kind of like a child's bath toy.

The base of the brush is soft and rubberlike. It seems so delicate and I have feared injuring it.
Same here!
(retired hairstylist) Thanks for reminding everyone to do this!⚘
Fellow hairdresser here. I was about to mention basically everything you just said, lol. Great advice.
Omg thank you !
Pretty shocking I watched a 15 minute video about cleaning brushes….major props to an interesting and informative video 🙌🏼
Have faith in JESUS CHRIST as LORD and SAVIOR for HE SAVES from hell❗️
*What is the Gospel?*
The true gospel is the good news that God saves sinners. Man is by nature sinful and separated from God with no hope of remedying that situation. But God, by His power, provided the means of man’s redemption in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Savior, Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 2:8-9
For it is by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of GOD, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Romans 10:9
9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
JESUS CHRIST can come anytime!

Great idea! I have a few sets of pretty hair sticks but I’ve never been able to make them work in my hair. I’d love to see how to do it effectively.
Omg yes!! Hair sticks are my favourite to use and you can do multiple different styles w/ them I would love to see Kayley incorporating some braids into it
Yessss! I have long hair and started using hair sticks instead of elastics about a year ago and would love more styles!
When I had long hair I LOVED hair sticks!!
Good job! Less waste of your precious money and ressources 👍🏼👏🏾
wow, throw out something because it's dirty? that seems a bit shocking to be honest.
Hahaha nice husband !
That's so sweet 😂
@@justynawisniewska1213 That's literally all I've been using lately! #samewavelength
@@FlailTV I was sticking to tangle teezer for years but influencer marketing convinced me to get the Wet Brush... guess I forgot the struggle. Big mistake.
I have literally never once cleaned my brushes 😂😂😂 ever …. Like 26 years of life and never knew this was a thing… I’m gonna do this ASAP!
I literally have never washed my brush before because I didn’t know how so needless to say it can use a good cleaning 😫 looks like I know what I’m doing this weekend! Thank you so much for the tips!
I’m a hairdresser so:
My work brushes are cleaned and barbicided between each use, thoroughly and would definitely be a tweezer getting every last pompom situation.
My home brushes get a daily hair Matt pulled out and monthly quick scrub with antibac, if I think about it 😂
My best tip is to use an old tint brush! Long pointy handle and lots of long bristles in a thin strip that can absolutely get everywhere
P.s. my personal brushes are:
❌👎🙅♀️
"If you like picking at things..." Yes. Yes, I do. That's why there is never a single hair left in my Tangle Teezer after I used it XD
Hahaha I’m not the only picker 😅
Tangle teeter is the easiest one, I put some liquid soap on a nail brush and scrub under running water. Takes about 30 seconds.
Natural hair brushes are more difficult so hear for some tips.
Here! Auto complete fails have started early this week.
Meanwhile, I've just opted to buy a new brush instead. I guess I know what I'm doing this weekend, thanks Kayley!
I have never washed my hairbrushes before! I clean the hair out but never washed. I will now! It makes so much sense. I clean my makeup brushes why not the hair brushes! Thank you so much! Love your channel!
This video is everything I needed. I take off the hair monthly, just the little lints always drive me crazy. Can't wait to try this!
🤩💪😎
Oh my goodness
I am so glad you made this video thank you!
I get 90% of the hair out after every brushing but today I was actually trying to get rid of those few stubborn ones that get left behind... there are still one or two but it is mostly hair free
I do need to clean off the buildup though... I have been staring at it in hopes it goes away when your video poped up xD
I can see those dust flakes sticking to the bristles, but I already washed it last week!
Omg, the toothbrush method of cleaning the brush solved all of my problems with lint. This was literally sooooo helpful tysm
If my brushes could talk, they’d be thanking you right now!
Hahaha I feel this on a spiritual level.
Kayley I need to know how you got these waves in your hair, they are perfect!!
That's a good idea, thanks.
The motivation was there. You just amplified the urgency to clean your brushes. Great video. 👍
Thank you so much. I’ve never cleaned my brush before because I never knew how to. and it was amazing to see the end result.
I had it in my head to clean all my brushes this weekend! Great timing girl!! Thank you!
And I'm def gonna get allllll the lil buddies lol
🐕🍁☕
Hahaha yesssss!! 💕🙃
Change my brush while I was watching this video on 2x. Thank you! It is satisfying to know my hair brush is now clean!
I’m very excited to try this out Ive learned so much through trial and error on my hair journey and it’s so satisfying to find new bits to integrate into the routine ❤
I love cleaning out my hair brushes! I clean my hair out while watching a tv show every so often. So satisfying
I own two brushes, one that I use in the shower to evenly coat my hair with conditioner and the other is one I use when my hair is dry .... I didn't think about it when I used it on my Halloween wig that I dyed and now the bristles are stained black 😩
But it was an old, cheap brush so maybe it's just time for a new one.
I adore my current brush; it's made of wood with a mix of boar and nylon bristles and was ridiculously cheap for the quality (bestool on Amazon). It also came with a very nice little cleaning rake and a cloth bag to keep it in. Even though it wasn't expensive, I want to make it last (you never know when stuff is going to be discontinued, also why be wasteful) so thanks for this video!
Haha, I just wrote a comment about this exact problem.
Yes lol and when I get sick of that I buy a new brush. I was just telling my husband you know what’s easier then using my tweezers? Buying a new one.
🍂🦃❄️
I would be a tweezer person for sure! I don’t think my brushes are too bad right now, I mostly use them when my hair is wet before products and I regularly remove the hair built up. But that being said I also can’t say I look at them too closely lol
Thanks for sharing, Kayley!
OMG IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS VIDEO MY WHOLE LIFE!!!!!! I’ve told friends about the lint in my brush, and I was looked at like I was crazy!! 😭😭
I'm sooo glad I didn't purchase that chemical the salons use to clean their brushes. I'm off to deep clean my brushes now! Thank you for sharing this!
I really just won’t understand how lint gets in the brush like my hair is not linty 😂it’s like 1 am and I’m about to clean my brushes 😂😅
I saw a post that recommended adding a couple of drops of tea tree oil to the cold rinse after you clean your boar bristle brush. Smells fantastic!
I usually just bring my brush with me into the shower every few days to clean them, I live in an apartment where dust magically appears so the brushes collect lint like crazy 🤢
I was trying to clean my brushes last week and this video has been so helpful. Everything I needed to know all in one place.
Where has this video been all my life? THANK YOU!
THANK YOU. I’ve been needing this my whole life 😩 no one teaches this stuff.
AHH THANK YOU!!! i always have lint/dust on my brush. im so glad you showed different brush types too
This was such a big help.. I had sat down with a terrible brush 😱 and went to pick the dust ball things out manually but then thinking I'd have to buy a new one but did a quick Google search and your video came up.. 😅 I still need to pick a few out but goodness.. this was a life saver! Thank you! 😊
Kayley is a breath of fresh air!
Definitely about to clean it
Solving my lint problems over here 💕💖💝my brush is lint controlled at the moment and now I know how to FINALLY free it. Yayyyy!
It’s absolutely so satisfying to pick those lint balls off. I haven’t washed my brushes but I do clean them regularly
thank you! my other hairbrushes were fairly easy to clean, but i recently got a wooden boar brush that catches lint so easily and even after i wash it it doesn’t seem clean so this is soo helpful thank you again!
amazing. thank you kayley. i hope the wedding was amazing and that you reached your hair length goal
Great vid!
THANK YOU SM OMG. everybody has been telling me to clean my hairbrushed and i had no idea how
When I saw this was 15 minutes long I almost quit out, but you're so bright and engaging! The whole video was great, thanks :D
Omg! I’ve never cleaned them before and they were NASTY! Thank you! I ended up using a straw cleaner, worked like a charm!
