Hike from Vyšné Hágy to Batizovské pleso - “3 seasons in one day” (Vysoké Tatry | High Tatras)

On 6 August 2022, we hiked from Vyšné Hágy (1,084 m) to Batizovske pleso (1,884 m) following the yellow route, a trail which is located about 5 km East from Štrbské Pleso. You can easily park your car at the train station or just past the level crossing. The lake is located in the Slovak Eastern High Tatras (Vysoké Tatry), surrounded by the high and rocky peaks of the Gerlachovský štit (2,654 m), Končistá (2,573 m) and Batizovský štit (2,448 m). We started our hike at 10:35 and we already reached the lake at 12:25. The trail was well maintained and very accessible. With the exception of snow/freezing, it seems like we experienced all seasons in only two hours, starting at a sunny 25°C while at the lake we had to deal with the harsh weather elements during a rainy storm with temperatures below 10°C. The mountains were completely covered in clouds. Behind some rocks, we did find some shelter to have lunch. Afterwards, we descended for 1h40min to Vyšné Hágy, were we had a drink in the very small pub ‘XXL’.
