The smash theory was a poorly explained version of a Matpat theory. The actual theory was that Master Hand and its many forms represent Masahiro Sakurai. It goes from a child with great aspirations, to a young man getting his start, to feeling trapped and shackled by the expectations of all that influence him, to literally breaking down until all that's left is the core of his being, and finally to giving one last stand before leaving for good.
Was about to say wasn't that just a short underdeveloped version of the MatPat theory.

Fun fact, according to The Pokémon Company none of the Pokémon wear clothes. The film makers of the Detective Pikachu movie mentioned that The Pokémon Company rejected their design of Machamp because it looked like it was wearing clothes which they were told Pokémon don't wear and anything that looks like clothes is part of their body. This is also why they cut Sawk from the movie because they couldn't find a way to make its "ki" not look like clothes.

Also I feel like cutting out Sawk wouldn't really be a hard decision considering they almost never show Sawk outside of being paired with Throh, neither of which are very popular or even interesting Pokémon in the first place
@@BinglesP I think they mean that Pokemon's designs themselves are not clothes. Like a Sawk cannot be seen as wearing a Gi and a Hitmonchan can not be seen as wearing a shirt, they have to be perceived as parts of their body. Not that they literally can't wear clothes, otherwise Pokemon Unite would utterly defy that sentiment.

Tbf it was a clever plan, I could definitely see them getting away with it. I'm sure even dumber plans have worked in the past that just haven't been caught.
They should've had multiple "tells" (IE if she double blinks, shifts her shoulders, or coughs) and only do it for important questions or something like that

It's like entirely silent in the studio and then you just hear "COUGH *D* COUGH COUGH" it was so painfully obvious I dunno how they didn't get caught right there and then lmao.
@@Gohka I've seen the entire run, it's not that bad. It's much harder to notice stuff like this when you aren't aware of what's going on. If your friend coughed every time a specific thing happened, you wouldn't notice until quite a while later. This stuff is easier to see in hindsight. The problem is that there's a lot of people in the audience that could at any point notice, plus I imagine there's also a team that specifically looks for cheating methods like this (I doubt it's not something they've considered before). Still, it's not as bad of an idea as it seems, the human mind is much worse at noticing random patterns than you think.
So funny story for the Sonic theory, with that Sonic is just a lab rat. The IDW comics mentioned that topic specifically. Eggman built those as traps to try and stop Sonic, but Sonic just enjoys those parcours. Nearly all the stages are just Eggman trying to stop Sonic but Sonic going out of his way to experience more of those traps cause they are fun to him

I remember once hearing about a game show(?) on WBTV that was a parody of American Idol where they started a seemingly legit future singer competition but purposefully picked people who sucked at singing without telling anyone, so when the finalist was crowned on the live stage all of the judges got up, revealed the joke, and brutally yelled at her that she sucked, basically ruining her life on national television
Also apparently right before the finale, they lied to the audience that all of the contestants were secretly terminally ill and had the life goal of being on American Idol. How the HELL that would make anything better is beyond me

The fact that Coney was not told that the past 2 COD games before Infinite Warfare had been futuristic, tech-y jetsuit games already and that it was not in fact anything new or interesting is driving me nuts.
You also had Black Ops 2 being set in the future though still retaining grounded gameplay
I think the first theory is spitting, but it was just explained poorly. The theory pretty much just says that Smash is a representation of Sakurai's life growing up. He goes from playing with toys in 64, to collecting figures in Melee through Smash 4, and Tabuu is a representation of adults judging him for doing things associated with childhood as an adult, and in Ultimate, Galeem and Dharkon represent the demands of the fans and Nintendo to keep making Smash games. Since Ultimate is likely the last Smash game he'll make, it ends with Galeem and Dharkon's defeat and them fading away, meaning he's free of the demands of all these different people.
What a baby, imagine complaining you have to do a job you choose and are making millions off of. I hope the Yakuza gets to him soon if he's that upset

Splatoon unironically has my favorite approach to lore and worldbuilding out of any primarily pvp video game I've ever played. EVERYTHING YOU DO AND EXPERIENCE IS CANON. Your character is a kid who loves turf wars, so every match you play is canon. Every song you hear canonically exists and was made by bands and musicians in the Splatoon world. Every weapon is based on or made out of real-life human "artifacts" the inklings dug up (e.g. the new bow weapon is a modified fishing rod, suction bombs are spray paint cans taped to plungers, etc).
The attention to detail is incredible. Nothing you do exists without any explanation other than that it's "for the sake of the gameplay." Everything has a canon reason for why it is the way it is, it's so sick. Even after you defeat the guy who runs Salmon Run in the story, the reason why you can keep playing Salmon Run is because the company gets taken over by another character who will most likely be the main antagonist of the next game. I would love to see your reaction to a Splatoon Iceberg someday.
Not bashing on watch mojo entirely hear, just early 2010s video game theory videos
I remember when this god awful "lets take away the fantasy part of this fictional franchise, and say it's some fake deep allegory for loss or being in purgatory, that or everyone is in a coma" theories. They were constantly rehashed again and again lacking any sort of creativity, or even worse, validity. It'd be one thing if everyone had the same idea about same thing, but the same idea for _everything_ , like, have you ever considered the fact the reason why these are called "theories", is because it's a conclusion you come with valid evidence and inferences, not cherry picking the media to bend it to fit your goofy narrative. The coma and purgatory theories don't even work in a vacuum most of the time.
So glad we're done with that schtick

I think that all started because Arms was the newest in-house Nintendo IP after Splatoon’s big breakthrough in 2015, and people got their expectations too high, so people started to consider Arms its less popular cousin or something. Both games are good in their own right imo.

Play the WiiU version of Wind Waker. There's a sail you can get pretty easily that cuts all sailing time in the game in half. Also, the endgame is almost infinitely better and easier because they cut out the vast majority of wandering from island to island, it's literally 70 percent easier.
All theories like this make me think is that people get way too obsessed with video games made for children.
I mean some of them are confirmed in game like the Splatoon and Pokémon ones. The punch out one is def a stretch tho

The sonic theory, while obviously not an intentional “true story” or canon for the series is a fun theory with an interesting premise it creates. Like if I was a genius scientist who had lab rats that essentially had super powers, I’d want to make sure my tests and and enrichment activities fulfilled their fantasies so they kept doing them so I could keep performing whatever tests I plan on doing.

Pretty sure its People from Pokémon tbh, though they could maybe be actual humans that just had earth invaded by them considering the settings are all real world places. First 4 gens are japan, 5 is NY, 6 is france, 7 is Hawaii, 8 is the UK but upside down, and 9 is spain. Even many of the spin-off games are in real places

I don't know if Coney skipped over it or if WatchMojo didn't include it but in the list of "Top 10 video game reveals that caused backlash", Paper Mario Color Splash should of been up there. I remember when that game was revealed in a Nintendo Direct and as soon as they showed the world map and the card system, everyone and their mom went ballistic over it and how they said they didn't want a Sticker Star 2.

Sorry to join in on the Zelda discourse, but Wind Waker and A Link Between Worlds are childhood favorites, so I’ve got to rep them just a bit.
For me the relationship between Ocarina and Wind Waker has always been a bit like the one between Mario 1 and Mario 3: the first one is a groundbreaking, genre-defining success, and it’ll always be iconic, but the later one, with the benefit of practice, ends up being a touch more polished, with some nicer level design and a nice new coat of paint. The story’s a lot different, and again maybe not as iconic, but I think it’s really neat and worth a shot. (also, there’s literally not even that much sailing involved, I really don’t get why people even mention it: it would be like complaining that Hyrule Field is too big in Ocarina)
As for A Link Between Worlds, even without being much of a fan of some of the other 2D Zeldas I think this one’s fantastic. The item rental mechanic really does a lot to shake things up in the early game, the consumables get streamlined really nicely, there’s lots of things to do in the overworld, and some of the unique mechanics lead to some of the best dungeon and puzzle design in the series. I know it can be easy to pass it over for being a 3DS game (even though honestly I also think a lot of 3DS games go hard) but honestly it’s pretty great. And regarding the problem of feeling lost, I had the same thing happen to me with Link’s Awakening as a kid but ALBW always felt really intuitive to me in how it was laid out, personally I don’t forsee that being an issue.
Anyway, sorry if this was cringe, maybe I’m just biased but these are my childhood games so those are just my opinions.
The cod community was mad about infinite warfare because it was a futuristic setting. Guess what two games came out before infinite warfare…. Bo3(futuristic) and Advanced warfare(futuristic) this game was gonna be the 3rd in a row with a futuristic setting. So while on the outside you might think cod was getting shit on just because they were trying something new that is not in fact what was happening. Also people were tiered of getting the futuristic double/triple jump Jetpacks in these futuristic games

I never played a Zelda game growing up even though I owned all the right consoles. I just started playing wind waker at the end of last year and I think it’s a great game that still holds up. I think the sailing is more relaxing than boring. I’m not even playing the hd version with quality of life improvements.

Matpat’s Smash theory duology is utter dogshit and has been a net negative for discourse surrounding the series. It’s given people false ideas about Sakurai’s workflow and has made people convinced that Nintendo keeps him locked in their basement and forces him to make Smash games. People eat it up because barely anyone pays attention to Smash lore outside of women who wrote Brawl fanfiction in middle school

Coney, the reason Infinite Warfare was so hated when revealed is because it was the fourth sci-fi CoD in a row. It wasn't doing anything unique by being a sci-fi game, and the trend was started by Ghosts, the most hated CoD game at the time, and Advanced warfare was lackluster. The exo-suit style movement and hero abilities just wasn't jiving with CoD fans, and was getting old. They also made you buy Infinite Warfare to get the remaster of CoD 4 that released alongside it.
Caring about story in a devil may cry game is very weird. And to make it the other games fault is also weird champ

If you don't like the gameplay much, I get not wanting to play online, but the singleplayer campaigns are where you can find a lot of, if not most of, the lore and stuff which you think are cool.

edit: I think the problem with the DmC reboot game is the fact that it was trying to act like it was part of the Devil May Cry series everyone knew and loved already, taking Dante and Vergil and everything and putting a twist on them.
If it did that with the gameplay, but had its own original characters and story, instead of hiding under the name of another series - establishing itself as its own thing.. i think that would've done a lot better for it, y'know?
