That $50 a month for games will turn into subscriptions for every damn major publisher like they have with TV/Movie stuff. Even if the technology can get there, the all-consuming hunger for what's in your wallet is going to make it a miserable experience.
The main issue with cloud gaming in the future is the monopolisation and carving up of certain areas by companies that provide internet services. Without incentive to provide a better service, the speeds needed for cloud gaming are going to be hard to access. Also honestly very glad Microsoft was blocked in that acquisition. People can be annoyed at Sony but at the end of the day that level of stacking the deck in your favour with all the studios Microsoft bought out is bad news imo. If Sony tried to buy Activision Blizzard and got blocked I'd so be similarly glad. Not trying to start a flame war, just giving my two cents.

Then there was stuff like Destiny making weapon exclusives and year 1 weapons irrelevant with introduction to Year 2 weapons. Cod also had timed exclusives so Sony would use these to hold control of a market while not outright buying them. Timed exclusivity makes a hell of a difference due to the known lifespan of cod games, while only a month that's more than enough time to collect the greater playerbase. As shown by them purchasing Destiny, it wasn't above them. Sony pushing and getting started what is now the triple a standard of $70 games isn't helping
So about that Dolmen game. I had friends during May 2022 whose job was to hand out flyers promoting the game. They didn't seem really thrilled and I'm happy to hear watchmojo considers it the 10th worst game of 2022
Coney you honestly don't know how right you are about game streaming. Xbox Xcloud has the entire game pass library and is shockingly responsive. Now I wouldn't play a fighting game using it, but I have beaten story driven single player games using only it. If you already have game pass you really should at least try it out.
so what has happened with the Activision blizzard acquisition is that the FTV is trying to block by sueing but is doing a bad job on both their own part and the way of evidence against it the most they have is they could make it exclusive. Nintendo agreed if this goes through 10 years of cod on Nintendo they did the same with steam except they didn't sign so instead Gabe Newell said I don't need to I know you will keep posting your games here. What the FTV said against the acquisition is seen as not good reasons why.
