Are you using yur phone as a beverage coaster? Damn, that's some next level rich.
+UpperRobin29 Its an Iphone, notice he uses Samsung, its a message. He's showing that iphones are as good as coaster.
+Jordon Brewer Now that I look closer, it's actually an android
UpperRobin29 No, it's diffidently an iphone
Jordon Brewer The last time I checked, Iphones weren't that thin.
+UpperRobin29 or wide

Its just a fake one its just a normal coaster shaped like a phone lol.
He is coffee-cooling his phone that is upside down and off
Thanks for these videos, Matt! It's awesome to see different ways to add to/personalize one's setup. This is extra helpful for me right now since I just moved and I am re-renovating my bedroom setup :D
+Matthew K. Glad you liked it!
MS Tech what is that desktop image I like it!
2 year update on that bedroom setup?
For those asking about customisation of the light patterns and defaults, it can be done but it's not simple if the control unit doesn't support it already (I don't know whether or not it does because I haven't used one of these RGB LED strips).
It's possible to program a microcontroller, such as those used in an Arduino, to send color-change commands to the LED strip. The main requirement is that the microcontroller must be able to run fast enough to send the short pulses which the RGB LED strips use as color-setting commands.
Unfortunately, this method requires you to either learn how to program or to get someone else who knows how to program, to do the custom programming for you.
(The control unit is just an infrared receiver and a microcontroller which does all the hard work)
Love your intro. It's slick and quick to the point. I can't tell you how many times I back out of tech videos or tutorials that have long + obnoxious intros.
in the opening scene you use a phone as a coster wtf how much money do u make
+Fergus B Probably trolling
+Fergus B Millions and millions
He gets free review units
+MS Tech I am sorry to inform you, but you may not tell home much you make, do to the RUclips guidelines. Your channel will be restricted from now on.
+Dax Daily I can only hope you are joking
When i did it with the staples all of the light stopped working and i needed to replace it how do you go around this?
I got the exact same RGB strip a few moths ago, almost same price! I used it on inside the lid of my aquarium and I must say: they are just perfect for it! I used the entire strip to make sure that I had everything well covered of course. The plants are growing wonderfully, no algae, healthy fish, etc. Which kinda surprised me to be honest since I've used other water resistant (NOT waterproof, there is a big difference!) RGB LED strips who have cost me a hell lot more who gave me a bunch of headaches after a while (failing lights, remote not connecting anymore, LED's giving up here and there and this after a very short period of time). Very happy with this one, and my fish too!
Cheers.
How convenient! I was looking for some LED's on Amazon today and the only ones I could find that seemed to be good were $30+. Thanks for the video and keep up the good work :D
Anyone else notice this dudes fuckin iphone being used as a coaster?
YESSS oh my go my nerves I thought I was seeing things
Yes it's quite brilliant, normally I just throw out an iPhone in hopes it gets crushed inside of a dumpster.
THATS SOME RICH WHITE PEOPLE TYPE SHIT NIGGA THE FUCK YOU AND THESE CLOWNS CAN GET IT THE SAME IMA GIVE A BITCH THESE HANDS MY B

Thanks Matt! Easy-to-follow instructions are very helpful.

Awesome video! Just started making a new gaming setup and I just finished putting these on my new desk. They look awesome. Keep up the good vids man! Thank you!!
I ordered these because of your great video, and with a white desk... they look amazing! Thanks!

BEST RGB FIRE STARTER Strip for $20!?
nice explaination really helps me.. i was searching through the internet to figure out how to apply the led lights your explaination rocks.. thank you MS Tech
Hey Matt, I just wanted to say I'm loving this product on my setup, it was definitely worth every dime. Thanks for making this product review mate. Keep up the great work. Cheers!
Patrick Foley if you cut it does it still work?
@@numsyfn4083 should work if you cut at the scissor point
Your videos are becoming very pre-2013 LinusTechTips-esque. Noice. Regardless, I used this for my setup (though the $7, shorter variant) and it works very well. The adhesive survived two removals so far
I have only been watching Linus for about two years so I am curious if that was a complement?
FractalHQ Just an observation, but definitely not an insult. Interesting to see though :P
+OzTalksHW I can dig that!
Do you think you can send a link for it? I can't seem to find it
Thanks for the response!
I see - he‘s an adhesive expert.
Great video, I've been looking for a review on cheap LED strips.
Ikr
I want to put one of these on my bookshelf. But how would I set it up so I can have it on multiple layers without having a continuous wire going up?
The remote uses infrared and all the LED strips have a IR receiver, that's why the remote can control all the strips
Alexander Stanley yeah, this is also why anyone with a samsung phone that is s5-s6 range or many LG phones would be able to control all of these with their phones
@@supercarsofwichita9485 if they programed an app with the correct frequencies xD
@@absolutelybagel2218, there is one. Look up RGB light remote

wow man you have come so far form the old stuttery you so proud love the vids
i havent bought this yet but the problem is that the power input wont fit my thingy :s how can i still get it to work?
+isak hs rip ;p
Rico Dekkers :c
+isak hs you can buy a power plug converter. suppose you live in the US and the cable you bought was UK, you can get a UK to US adaptar thingy and plug it in and it will work, it will look bulky but it gets the job done :)
+Essentials ok ty c:
Maybe its brighter than the ikea ones because you made 2 rows? idk just my thoughts
ahha exactly what i was thinking
They also have light changing light bulbs that come with the same kind of remote as the light strips. They cost five dollars each and look kind of nice when you use them at night.
Thank you for this! I am fixing to do a PC build and all ill need is another receiver to use one side of LED's for desk and other for desktop! Thanks a TON man :D
Can you change the settings that the colour can switch automatically without pressing the buttons all the time? :D
Yep, there a different modes like fade or jump.
Vortixz
Thx :)
Philips Hue offers basically the same stuff but with way more colors and compatibility.
I own a lightstrip from Philips and it is really worth it in my opinion, but this video is targeted to people with a low budget.
+iWindowz do you only have the light strip? Or do you need the bridge thing to control them
I have the bridge, 3 normal lights multi color, the LED strip plus & hue Go. looks really good, but it's really expensive :(
"but this video is targeted to people with a low budget." if you put that in a different context you could make it sound like you are a snobby rich kid
Thank you for showing this, because I'm interested in getting them.
Wow Matt, much coordination!
I want to get some kind of LED/RGB lighting for my new gaming PC case that has a side panel window so I can show off all my components. Kind of sad I know but would look better then just having a plain old PC. Wondering what RGB/LED lights the RUclipsrs use for their gaming PC's and was curious if this would do the trick if I plug it into my power supply instead of the wall. Many thanks in advance! :)
Thanks! I will look around for some LEDs.
Cheers! I'll look on eBay then. My mobo is mini itx so it doesn't have rgb plugs! :(
CableMod Magnetic LED strips are amazing!!
I got some led strips but I will probably upgrade to rgb ones. I heard great things about cable mod. I will definitely check them out!
yeah, led strip can decorate our home ,car and anywhere, the color also is coloful.
lighting possibilities. and one led broken ,the led strip will work normally,ws2812b can not, so ,ws2813 more realible.
This is a stupid question but if you use adhesive you can't remove them right?
No, you can remove them if they are stuck on with adhesive... But he used staples because the adhesive was shitty he said, meaning that the adhesive wont stick for very long.
DaLaZeeSloth Games n' More It's not a stupid question. It's a retarded one. And you can remove the adhesive as someone already answered.
yeah thats what i thought :P thanks
Just bought these and they look great on my glass desk setup! 100% recommend
Thank you for this video...this is exactly what I need for my TV stand
basically these are the same ones that are found on aliexpress for 10 bucks
they are the same, but amazon delivers in 5 days at max, plus if something does not work you can just return it, aliexpress is way slower and if you get something broke you're basically stuck with it unless you're lucky
I'm not from us so Amazon does not apply to me
+Clinton Scerri I live in Italy so I bought them from amazon.it
if amazon doesn't reach you, you made a good buy from aliexpress ;)
+Paolo Rigo I bought them from aliexpress for 9 euro and arrived to my country Malta 2 weeks not that bad for free shipping and they work amazing.
+Clinton Scerri Yes, but through Amazon you get free two-day shipping and a respectable company to contact should anything go wrong.
How do the led's look when their white?
YA pleez tell
NepperBoon use it behind black/dark tables
NepperBoon
Search for DIY Perks (the channel) LED strips. He'll tell you all about them and what NOT to get
Like Trash
Wow Matt, much coordination.
wow matt, much coordination
You can probably get that with a small loan of a million dollars.
Yo I was on a budget and went to Walmart and found one of these led light things and hooked it up on the back of my tv and it was 5 bucks
BUDGET!!!!
its been a year, did those cheap 5 bucks rgb led strips catch on fire and burned your tv?
Blmao nah tbh they still work like any other ones would
I appreciate you taking the time to do this comparison. There's so many to sift through otherwise. Peace
Wow Matt, Much Coordination
How are they holding up 4 months later?
+Daniel Grealish Great! They are all still working as well as they did on day one.
+MS Tech I have a high gloss table to can't use staples. will the adhesive hold up? Thanks
I was thinking about that too, I'm sure 3M tape would hold it holds everything.
If the adhesive fails, get some 3M mounting squares and cut them into squares and space them out along the strip. Works well.
So i was thinking of the the main setup and 2 extra strips so will both the other strips work with the same one system or do i have to buy 3 system total?
So when I cut a part of it, can I still use it??
+Bastian Beivers yes you can!
Bastian Beivers you're supposed to cut it, so you use up the whole roll.
yes :D but if you are interested I can recommend the Xiaomi Yeelight Smart Light Strip it costs 30$ ;) you can control the color and the brightness from your phone ( works on android and ios ) and also water proof ( it's on 64% discount right now ) www.gearbest.com/smart-lighting/pp_424884.html
You can, but it requires some basic soldering skills, as well as the purchase of a handful of connectors, so its not really worth the hassle..
ehehe someone wants free stuff ehehenothing against tho, just thought it was funny
Love the quality of this channel
Thank you For doing this video, its really hard to find a good video :)

People like me dream of an IPhone 6 or the money, he just puts a Mug on it :O
It's a Galaxy S6, so we do we care?
+Cristian Martinez Not an S6, look where the camera is. Maybe a Sony Xperia Z5?
Any way whatever phone it is its probably fake
it's probably just a coaster designed to look like a phone.
+Haven DW true
Bruh theres literally adhesive on it lmao
Did you not listen?
Bruh. Listen.
sick vid just what I was looking for buying them now :)
Wow Matt much coordination
I paid 8$ on ebay for my rgb strip lmao.
20$ is ridiculous
mint I paid £2.99
Nice link to amazing.com and not to the product.
It doesn't matter the LEDs are unavailable. I've had them in my cart for months and a couple days before I went to but then they got out of stock. Luckily, there are some Tingkam LEDs that are the same if not better and they costs the exact same.
+The Meep Channel *cost, sorry typo
:( i wanted to buy them
The link is back now.
here you can buy a 5m strip for like 13€ www.gearbest.com/led-strips/pp_354273.html?vip=275117
you shouldnt of cut off the very end connector of the long led strip first... you just wasted the left over led strip with no connector now.you could of reused that part. lmao does no one realise this?
First thing I noticed how he rushed in without planning out the run at all. Chop!!!
But does it go GAY MODE??!!!
Jk just wondering if it goes rainbow colors, ty!
Thank you so much, I found these but i wondered, should I trust these and now i am totally going to buy these for my bed, thank you!!
Camera work on point!
and as always "stay classy"
that is the most overused outro ive ever heard
Did you just assume that light strips gender!
Wow Matt. much coordination
I was thinking about getting some led's and after this video i went and bought the same ones from Amazon they work great, thanks for the tip 20 bucks is really a drop in the bucket for full computer desk lights.
Nigga using a phone as a coaster lmaooo
What is that table called at 6:35 and where do you get it? Is it the one that raises so you can stand and use your pc etc. ?
Thanks Matt I ordered the lights and will come in a week
But how i can use other thing that i dont need ? Can you make tutorial for it cos i dont know how to do it
Great video thanks man!
Thanks so much dude! I was wondering if I could control multiple strips with one remote
Can you just solder a power source onto the cut spots? Do you need anything specific? I was thinking about making a pair of LED shoes, so I would just put a 12v battery on the back of the shoe or something and just use wires to solder onto the cut/contact points and power it that way
+JoyousUnicornGaming yeah. you can do that with normal LED strips but with RGB it gets a bit trickier
Cool! It looks great
2:25 WOW MATT, MUCH COORDINATION
Can you put the cut strips in different places? And will the remote work for putting different colors on each of them?
Try turning on the fade on one desk first, the wait like 1 second and turn on the next strip so it gives a cool wave effect
ILY
So if I have two LED strips, one behind the desk and one inside my case, if I have the receiver from the desk near the case, will the remote control both of them at once?
So, I just bought led strip and I don't have that wire thing which I need to connect if I cut the stripe. Is it still possible for me to cut the stripe?
you sir made my day you deserve much more subs
I want these lights to go around my whole ceiling do you know where I can get only the light strips and not the other appliances
If i have 2 night stands that I want to put LEDs behind them... what's an efficient way of doing it? If i buy this LED strip you're using it has tons of light stirp to work with, but once I cut it, the rest becomes useless - is there an adapter for the rest of the LED light strip I can buy?
wow matt
much coordination
Wow Matt much cordination
is there a way to connect two strips together? i have a plan for lighting and i need 30 consecutive feet of led strip. if you can connect them, does it power it all with just one wall plug?
can you do this for the inside of a PC?
if this doesn't work because the strip has to be connected to another thing, is there a wireless version so I don't put a hole in my case?
Does it remember the setting if you disconnect the power?
I'd like to plug the strip to the LED Driver inside the ceiling light and once I switch the light on I want the strip to light up warm white as default without using a remote.
Then change the color if desired.
if i have the rest of the cable , can i use it again for another desk, but in the box, they just give us 1 adapter. Pls help me
so I have like 6 rolls of the lights. but only one power supply, adaptor and remote. do you know where I can get more power supplies that are compatible with this brand of lights?
Thank you!!! So helpful!!!😊😊👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾😍😍😍😍🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾😃😃🐢🐢🐢
Can you connect a battery pack with just a positive wire and a negative wire to this? Also any idea on the voltage needed to power them?
