Tip: never turn on LED's when they're rolled up. If left for more than a few seconds, the slight overheating can damage the fragile LEDs. Great video!!
If you mean rolled like the way they come out of the box (in a reel), then that´s not true... at least with decent medium quality led strips. I´ve been using them like that for days now.
I've always put off doing this because I didn't realize there were connectors...I subscribed to you about a year ago and can honestly say your vids are never a disappointment! Big thumbs up from me! 👍
For people that telling this dude that 50$ is too much. At least he shared how to properly use it, that 50 bucks sure will return ASAP Thx for the vid mate
For people with eye issues (like muhself), it does help with eye strain! If you've ever done one of those little illusion-image tricks where you stare at a seemingly abstract image for one minute, then glance up at the wall to see the "burn in" create an image for you... for some of us, that happens in about a quarter second instead. So the edge of the monitor panel creates a burn-in line constantly. LED backlighting fixes the issue almost completely. As a digital painter, it's pretty invaluable! Nice video, too. For people just getting into this, it's a great step-by-step on how all this works and how easy it is to fix little issues that inevitably pop up.
Adding LED’s to my sons room. Putting around the room and was going to just add to the desk but after seeing this I think I will add to monitor also. Your video was very entertaining. Got a laugh out of it. You seem like a stand up dude. Thanks for walking us through the steps and fingers crossed, hope my son end up liking the room.
Yea the adhesive is quite weak but I found that to be good when I was installing so I could put on and off until I got the right spots. I had to use some tape to support the weak spots though, that helped a lot!
I didn't buy connectors but I will just get 4 small rolls of wire to to solder extensions in places where I don't want lights. Around my desk edge then up to my wall shelf and I'll hide my wires behind my acoustic panels.
Sort of late, but how did you disable/turn off the LEDs on that strip going vertically up to the rest of your monitor? Is there some sort of switch on the connectors or something?
Mate! Great video. This is my reference video for setting up my desk. ONE BIG QUESTION! How is the LED Strip on monitor mount not illuminated while the rest of the monitor is? I would like to exactly the same but I don't know how to. Help?
4:57 It's not just a marketing strategy. Yes it does help for eye strain. It's called bias lighting. Although you will need bias lighting if you use your computer on a very dark room with only one light source. If your room is well lit then you probably don't need it.
I'm a modular guy my led psu is mounted under my desk with velcro straps which is under my desk with screws, the led strip for mine came with mounts with screws which means I can replace my strips easily

how did you get your lights so close to your wall without leaving dots along the wall???? i set my strips behind my desk about a quarter of an inch away from the wall and they leave these absolutely horrendous looking dots where the nodes are. What did you do to stop this from happening???
@@KushanthaCharuka I recommend Govee LEDs. I informed myself about every single LED Strip and which fits the best for me. I can't say anything about the Govee LEDS. They are the best for me and "only" cost 28€... Here is a link: www.amazon.de/Govee-Lichtband-Lichterkette-kompatibel-unterst%C3%BCtzt/dp/B07Q79FC47/ and you don't have to use extra glue, they stick very well and didn't fall off.
If I'm not wrong you probably have to cut the led strip into 2 separate strips and then connect them together to the IR controller and power supply. Pretty sure there will be a lot of tutorials on how to connect 2 separate led strips to the same controller.
There are 2 options: 1: cut it. Have 2 LEDs separated and connected 2: cut it. Have 2 LEDs connected via connector with cable extensions which is usually used for corner bends but can work for that, too
What is the little silver box/stand you use to hold up the extension socket I don’t like having the big strip of plugs on top of my desk and that looks like a solution
Please tell me about the connectors.. which you connect with the cut pieces.. please.. and where i find it and what are the names of these?? Please tell
I’m so confused. If I get led light strips and they are too long, meaning I have to cut them, is there anyway to make it shorter without any extra equipment?
@@arkouda1735 super late response, but he shows it in the video: there are connectors and decent led strips can be cut at precise points so you can reconnect them as needed.
