ll 13 minutes of the completed fake Doctor Who 80s-style anime. Drawn, animated and partially voiced by myself. Some bits are good, some bits are poor, but on the whole it turned out okay, I think. Enjoy! This is old school Who, so fans of the new reboot show may be confused by the fact that the Doctor is doing martial arts and Cybermen say "excellent." Watch the classics and you'll understand. You'll also become almost instantly more handsome by watching classic Who.

Those who say the Doctor doesn't fight, the 3rd Doctor was a martial arts expert and did throw down when he had no choice.
Although he didn't exactly pull off this level of moves.
Yeah plus the twelfth Doctor literally impaled someone in his first episode then completely flipped someone upside down
What we are talking of? This is a freaking anime (well, a western anime)! First anime rule is that girls have big crying eyes and big tits. Second is: Heroes fight hitting tsubo and made their enemies exploding from the inner. Heroes in anime do not argue pacifically with the enemy, but if they argue they are talking of pervert things to do to girls of rule 1... 😀😎🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Many years late I know, even so it is obvious that whoever made this has a deep love of Doctor Who and Anime in general and they meshed it together expertly this was fantastic. I especially loved the fact that the used the Third Doctor who was more action hero-esque to showcase his skills as a fighter.
I prefer other animation styles. But the cyber men were perfect

The choice of the 3ird doctor played by John Pertwie was excellent due to the fact he was basically James Bond, Jackie chan and Dumbledore combined and his snake tattoo was also really cool in this anime I would believe that his tattoo would be a dragon..
And let's remember that Jon was in fact an agent for the British Secret Service, with a fondness for gadgets, who was actually dispatched by Ian Fleming himself. Very good chance he was one source of inspiration for James Bond.

The Doctor only goes to America to die or lose something important. Now we know if the Doctor goes to Japan it's for badass anime special effects with multiple simultaneous alien invasions.

The gunfighters, the TV movie and the Impossible astronaut were set on America and in all of them the doctor was held at gunpoint, in the movie he was successfully shot
@@Razgriz_01 That was Susan Foreman, who the Doctor eventually locked out of the TARDIS in the 22nd century when she fell in love with a guy named David in London. They adopted 3 war orphans and together they had one biological son named Alex Campbell, although the child only had one heart - likely because it wasn't born in or around a time vortex. (even humans apparently get two hearts and regeneration if conceived in those conditions, as we saw with River Song). Because she was a Time Lord and aged slowly even without regeneration she had to wear makeup to make herself look old.
It was the 8th Doctor that got to meet his great grandson Alex, who ultimately died... in America. Killed by Daleks. He then left his granddaughter in America to deal with the loss of her son.
She then goes back to London, converts Coal Hill School (where her teachers were from) into a flat and lived there until Galifrey sent hypercubes (messages). The Doctor tried to keep her from them, but she read them anyway and decided to join the Time War where she later became a victim of the Doctor's Time Lock.
All this ignores the numerous alternate timelines that go against the main continuity, of course.
TLDR: The Doctor also lost his great grandson in America.

I feel like we need to take some of the Dalek & Cybermen shots and re-work them for the audio from what I like to call Evil Alien Smacktalk - the bit where the Cyberman patrol and the Dalek patrol order each other to identify themselves:
Cyberman: You must identify first.
Dalek: DALEKS DO NOT IDENTIFY FIRST!!!
Cyberman: Species identified as Dalek.
Dalek: Oh SHIT! NOT AGAIN!!!!!!!
Okay, I added that last line but still......
It's the Dalek equivalent of G1 Megatron's "such heroic nonsense"

Some bits are really badly animated and pretty embarassing to look back on, but some still hold up pretty well. I do like the Dalek battle in the Tokyo Metro Govt. building.
I wonder how Sachika's voice acting career is going? Obviously Phil Sacramento is glorious as always.

Badly animated in anime are never noticed by casual veiwers. And I wholeheatedly agree that we could do with a sequel to this, perhaps just animating for one of the radio dramas or one of the lost episodes that only have audio but any sort of Doctor Who animation would be worth the watch if it came from you.
Well whoever made this is a really good fan as they knew the 3rd Doctor was the one who would get in anime levels of fighting over all the other Doctors. They didn't just put in a "popular" (popularity is debatable) Doctor they put the one Doctor that actually fights in the show. Well Done whoever made this it's really cool and nicely animated, and to put the cherry on top of the cake accurate to a portrayal of the right Doctor.
He even does an over the top "HAIII!!!" when fighting like an anime character too!
He also has a 'look' that lends itself to anime. Of course, so do 4, 8, 10, 11, and 12 (to some extent). I can really see 10, with his big brown eyes and spiky hair, done anime style.

lavaskater You also get the Brigadier in his prime with the Third Doctor. If only they could have included Sarah Jane. She was handy with a rifle.
I was thinking Trigun. Watch Vash fleeing (in the funny chase scenes) and tell me you can't picture 10.
I showed this to my dad, and while he sat there in silence judging me a little for my tastes in shows, I was literally fangirling cause I forgot how GOOD this was. Props to the animator and the sound mixer, cause I know it would’ve been hard to find all those audio clips. Also, I love the fact this is reminiscent of 1980’s anime, where it’s ALL hand drawn. Really, it shows the talent the artist has when everything is hand drawn.
I cant imagine the amount of hand cramps they got when making this.
4:30, love how the master introduces himself and his own Tardis by his other self is a 'Coffee Drinks Dispenser' (Master's Tardis with a working "chameleon circuits" unlike the Doctor's).
Can I just take this moment to say the cyber men look absolutely badass here, one of the most powerful designs I've ever seen. The BBC should seriously consider at least a one-off animated episode like this.
And we actually see the humans inside when they are blown up

I think the BBC Should hire whoever did this and give him what he needs to recreate the classic in this anime form for children in colour and they could release it on DVD

The person who made this should seriously make 10 episodes of a season - probably featuring clips from the trailer, but having the Daleks, Sontarans, Cybermen, the two Master story, and of course, Sutekh - just do it!
It would take forever to find enough audio clips to make coherent stories.
@@peterward2275 I think there are loads of people on YT who have been able to mimic Doctors' accent word for word he should collaborate with them, get a few more animators together and they should make a parody like a doctor who abridged

Anyway, this design is far too robotic. Fans like the scarier more organic designs more.
I wonder if the BBC took notes from this when they redesigned the Cybermen for the 11th Doctor story "Nightmare in Silver."

Someone's never watched The 3rd Doctor much. He prefers not to fight physically if he can avoid it. That doesn't mean he's incapable. And the Third Doctor did it often. I admit a little less Punchy/Kicky then in here. Usually he threw people but that was because the shoe didn't have fight choreographers.
vampricyoda The fight coordinator for the Pertwee and Baker (Tom, that is) eras was guy called Stuart Fell, stuntman and double, as I recall.

Don't forget that the 4th Doctor was a bit of a fighter too, just not as smooth as his third regeneration. He's no slouch by any means though, he's broken a man's leg and nearly snapped another's neck, he was pretty damn good with a sword and a crossbow, and he wasn't afraid of using booby traps and poisoned darts either. The 4th Doctor wasn't one to shy away from a flight is all I'm trying to say.
This really isn’t the Doctor’s day isn’t it? Appearing in what is the middle of a 3 front war between the Daleks led by Davros, the Cybermen being aided by two Master’s, and the Sontarans. Not only that but to make things even worse Sutekh the Destroyer showing up as well. I almost expected the Beast to pop out from under the ground.
I would love to see Sutekh reappear in the new series
@@SamuelBlack84- Given how the Doctor trapped him, that would be a neat trick. Although, given the way the Time War and the attempts to assassinate the Doctor broke reality, Sutekh could be somewhere recovering.

i remember the first time I saw this several years ago. Loved it and then I scrolled down to the comments and one of the first ones was from a modern fan who thought it was awful because there were all these Cybermen and not one of them said "Delete" and because the Doctor fought.
Not realizing that this based on the 3rd Doctor who *did* fight and that the whole "Delete" thing was a product of the modern show trying to make Cybermen into less intimidating Daleks.
The Delete thing was cool, but its nice they got rid of it. Cybermen aren't supposed to be "Daleks with legs"
I'm like 90% sure that person was me as an 11 or 12 year old. I've since watched quite a bit of the classic series and am no longer that insufferable I hope.
To be fair, the use of “Destroy” here could be considered close, though it’s not overused like Delete is in the actual series.

Crazy how a small hand full of people are able to make something of this quality just for pure fun, yet a whole modern studio struggles to come near this.
Its worse than that; IIRC, this was made by a single dude who storyboarded and animated all of this, plus took the time to sift through all of the 3rd Doctor episodes to find the appropriate voice lines, and provided his own Dalek and Cyberman lines on top of that. The only clear help he got was whoever, perhaps a lady friend, voiced the Doctor's companion for the episode and maybe also helped him with the Japanese subs.
The power of sheer passion and dedication, I guess.

This is actually pretty accurate to what Doctor Who would be like if it was in Japan. All the cybermen and daleks would turn into giant mech robots, the Doctor would be overpowered and beat up anybody that wants a fight and he would have his own harem full of female companions

Overblown, but in all the best ways. I love the use of Three, he's amazingly appropriate for an anime. Seeing the Brigadier and their snarky relationship made me so VERY happy.
The two Masters are a BRILLIANT touch, I love the idea of him scheming against himself. The Master(s) in charge of Cybermen was a new concept at the time this was made, but given the new series' Season 8 finale I find it terribly appropriate.
Davros looked PERFECT and I was terrified.
I squee'd so loud when Sutekh showed up. Pyramids of Mars is my all-time favorite Classic Who episode, and Sutekh reminded me of the X-Men villain Apocalypse in terms of the vastness and scope of his power.
I like the sassy gun-slinging companion. She's like Ace but more energetic. I also like the Doctor snarking at her about her wardrobe.
All in all, this takes Doctor Who tropes and anime tropes and blends them VERY nicely. It was a joy to watch.
You notice how many anime women are barely dressed? She's likely a homage to that. The line about putting on 'something warm' is from a 3/Sarah Jane serial and definitely fits Three.

+Isabella Felipe de Oliveira Campos - Pending on what happens in Series 10 and per news interviews with Stephen Moffat and Peter Capaldi, we might get a female companion that is something more of an action hero or someone that allows the 12th Doctor to still kick ass. I kept thinking this anime because it shows the Doctor with a female kick-ass companion and the Doctor still fights bad guys. Oh yeah...there are similarities between 12th Doctor and 3rd Doctor esp in terms of costume design and that they can fight with a weapon.

Jenny Armstrong I mean people have opinions but in my opinion I found this pretty cool just the Cyberman, the police woman, and the two masters were just the things I didn't like. But out of all I love the Daleks! But just one problem with them is why are their eyes green?
Jenny Armstrong Personally, I lost interest in anime a long time ago, but credit where credit's due. The execution was more than passable, and the portrayal of the cybermen and daleks really worked. The use of a macross missile swarm was my only gripe, but whatever.

WAIT. I FOUND A PLOT HOLE. Why is the girl talking japanese when the Tardis should translate it into english?
because (I think) the doctor speaks japanese (not sure if im imagining things but i remember the third dr once saying something in japanese.) the TARDIS doesnt translate if the person that would need it translating speaks the language himself. since the story is either from the drs perspective or hers, it never translates what she says.

The Sutekh sequence was so rad - this should have been how Sutekh returned in 2024.
I completely buy into the Doctor kicking ass like that. He has studied everything. Hell, maybe the Doctor taught Bruce Lee or invented martial arts in the first place. He's the Doctor - he can learn and do anything he wants.

It's the budget available. If they could afford to properly animate everything, that would be awesome.
The issue with these official animations is the art and design style, generally they want to follow a realistic pattern and end up not being attractive to either children or adults.

Well older anime had detail where people are still moving when standing, new anime is where people talk like statues such as talking without making gestures much.

stefano argiolas - well, about half a decade passed between that animation and the official work. I haven't watched "Reign of Terror" since before I got the animated version, so I couldn't tell you.

If this was an actual Doctor Who adventure, it would be utterly insane! The Third Doctor, the Brigadier, UNIT, and Tomo Kajiura against Davros, the Daleks, the Sontarans, the Cybermen, two incarnations of the Master, and Sutekh the Destroyer! How can they get out of this situation? What makes this more insane is that the Third Doctor shouldn't be encountering most of these enemies, as they are from his future. In fact, the only enemies here that aren't from his future are the Delgado Master and maybe the Sontarans. (No idea if the Doctor has met Sarah Jane, yet.) I think the good guys may need some assistance. Maybe another Doctor or two?
But what doctors would fit the anime style as good as 3rd, maybe 4 or 11?
He met the Daleks and the Cybermen before. And yeah he traveled with Sarah Jane in Season 11
@@jpr0328 Wow, I wasn't expecting to get a response to this comment eight years later. You are correct in that he has faced the Cybermen and Daleks before. However, it wasn't these particular versions of the two enemies. The Imperial Daleks are from the Dalek Civil War, which the Doctor won't get involved with until his seventh incarnation. As for the Cybermen, they are much more advanced than the versions the Doctor had faced previously. They have the voices of the Cybermen from the eras of the Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh Doctors.
In regards to Sarah, yes the Third Doctor does travel with her in his final season. However, we don't know exactly when in his timeline the Doctor is. He could be from after he met Sarah, or before.
Please somebody make this an actual full series, I would watch the hell out it.

Doctor Who, oddly enough, has a lot of shounen aspect, a protagonist who never stops, full of personality and who has several dilemmas and gets involved in several plots.But I believe that a Doctor Who anime is more like seinen or something in the style of Cowboy bebop
The anime-style design of the Cybermen drawing from Gundam was very good.
I'd say "Gundam-looking" is a bit much; as stylised as they are, they're very clearly based on 80's cybermen (AKA the ones from Earthshock and Silver Nemesis), as if the cyber-leader's "Excellent!" didn't instantly give that away.
Personally, I'd argue they resemble Tekkaman Blade more than any mobile suit of the pre-2001 time period.

I felt teh 50th really should have made more use of classic Whos still abt, tho I understand why they didn't. And yes, I saw the jokey mini-sode w/the others sneaking in as Daleks or the statues under the sheets, but that was just meh.
OtOH, it is hard to justify the ageing process. Moff barely got away w/it w/The Curator.
BTW, Troughton's son was in "Midnight", and looks just like him, tho they managed to hide it.
CliventheTraveller - Peter Davison is the only one of the surviving Classic Doctors who even looks remotely like his Doctor, and they still had to handwave the differences in 'Time Crash.' Colin Baker is unrecognizable. (It's possible that the Curator is not merely an older, end-of-life version of the Doctor, but might have a similar origin to the double of 10.)
I didn't see that much resemblance between the actor in 'Midnight' and his father, except around the mouth and nose. Definitely stouter than 2. Besides, you can't have 2 without Jamie, and Frazer Hines is plainly long past youth -- unless 'Season 6B' really is canon.

David Troughton is indeed stout, but solidly has his father's face, under that. The (lack of) hair can be misleading, but add *THAT DR 2 **-HAIR-** MOP,* and he is remarkably similar. Not so much his brother, Mike (was in "Last Christmas"), who instead *seriously* looks like maybe Mrs. Troughton got drunk at a party and mistook her Patrick for Merry old Mr. Macnee.
Agreed abt Pete. A more hobbity profile now, and even his demeanor was more grumbly in Time Crash. Dr 5 was, in the old days, rather soft spoken and gentle: a sort of flustered, hesitating but cheerful fellow, in most cases.
Dr. 2 has been there w/o Jaimie. Rarely.
CliventheTraveller - 5 was so low-key, polite, and gentle that most people forget the body count of his time. The poor guy was constantly extending the hand of friendship and seeking peaceful solutions, and people were always shooting at him (more or less). No wonder he regenerated as a jerk-ass.
He was attacked by thugs, then got arrested for defending himself...

The lore behind this episode is that the daleks cyberman, the british and Americans all want control over anime waifus
while an anime would be interesting, they would have to use one of three certain conditions.
1) Make it completely non-canon to the original
2) Make it canon but use a Doctor that has had little to no screen time. such as the War Doctor before he stole the moment, or the 9th Doctor before he met Rose.
3) Base it after the 8th Doctor's series on the comic books
or 4. go nuts with it and make it completely original or a retelling

The 8th Doctor already has those audio stories they could use.
As for "the 9th Doctor before he met Rose" - The 9th Doctor was War Doctor straight before he met Rose. He was fresh after the regeneration. He didn't even seen his new face before he looked in the mirror in Rose's flat.

As an animé and Doctor Who fan, this is fucking awesome! And for all those saying they don't like this or that the Doctor doesn't fight, get your heads out of your asses. Watch the Classic series, and you'll see that the older Doctors used violence. Stop obsessing over the 10th. And since you guys don't watch animé or know much about it, you can't appreciate it.
