hey marty, i started playing the guitar about 2 and a half years ago. and for the frist year i didnt play much at all. i tryed learning from a book and a dvd i got from samash. i learnt maybe 2 chords that hole year...then i found you... and man did my guitar skills blast off!! no lie i went from not wanting to play to cant stop playing over night...you've tought me everything i know and i want to thank you...so thank you marty thank you!!
dude great video, thanks. woke up with this song in my head after a bad dream last night, and listening to john sing was the only thing that got me back to sleep. decided it was time to learn it. thanks for the help, i'll be watching your other vids!
A message to Doug Andrade,Mate not all of us can pick songs as quickly as you think you can mate!.So carry on doing your lessons the same slow way please Marty, your the best teacher on the net1 Best Regards,John Haggerty Gold Coast Australia
Thank you Marty for once again showing everyone how to play this great Beatles (Lennon) song. It's my 2nd Favorite all time song behind Lennon's "In My Life". I have always loved the chord arrangements and the intro of this great song and now I'm going to try and learn how to play it.
Re: the song's key, Alan Pollack's "Notes on" entry on the song says: - It's in D in versions played at the original speed (i.e. Anthology 2 and Let It Be... Naked) - It's speeded up to E-flat on the WWF version (on Past Masters) - It's slowed down to D-flat in the version on Let It Be
I have to tell you you do a great job teaching. I have been playing a lot of years and can play pretty good. I like to look and see who really does not do a great job. GREAT JOB!! KEEP IT UP!!
Depends which album version you're listening to, this one in Eb is on 'Past masters'. There's a couple of versions in D you could play along with, there on 'Anthology 2' and 'Let it be -naked', so no capo needed.
You have a real talent for teaching knuckleheads like me how to play songs without knowing how to read music. I ain'i paying you unless I win the lotto.
thanks again Marty, your way of explaining makes it so simple to learn. I really appreciate it. Ben Harper's Please Please Me Like You Want To would be an awesome lesson !
amazing .. i keep saying this .. marty you're the best teacher ever.. it's just about 2 months since i bought my guitar and i can play so many songs now by just learning from your videos...thanks man.. _/\_
It certainly was a John Lennon song, some say it was his answer to McCartney's Blackbird.... as you will know they used to bounce off each other... beautiful song and great accurate lesson :-)
you rock! thank you for this! You're a really good teacher, I find it easy to understand what you're doing. Got most of it down ,except the intro part, but i'll keep practicing! thanks !
Wow Marty....that was wonderful....funny how much more you appreciate the talent of these songwriters when you see their stuff disassembled like this. John Lennon was genius don't cha think? Anyway thanks for your efforts. You have taught me so much.
Dude, love the Stone Brewing hoodie... I used to do some work with them in AZ! Love the product! Keep on keepin' on! Thx for the tutorials! I watch 'em all!
Great stuff as always!! I always played stuff that wasn't entirely "right", and with this prefer the simple A7 shape where you're playing the A, with just the B and G strings fretted. But what is right and what works I always leave up to you!! As for the Gm 4th, the Beatles did a ton of this, and it's called "Modal Interchange". This is when you borrow a chord from the parallel key, NOT relative, but could be from minor to major of vice versa. Keep up the great work and thanks!!!
matyzsongs Great break down of the song. Very helpful. Would be more so if you showed the chords on the bottom of the screen throughout the video (both the actual chord and the capo chord). Thanks!
Ok, I have a black dog with a white chest as well, and when I PLAY....he sleeps, he doesn't wag his tail or seem to be remotely interested. Glad I'm learning from your vids to maybe keep him awake. :)
thank you so much. i have wanted to play this song for so long. instead of having the capo, can we tune the guitar up or down a half step? this would be up , right?
hey first off i want to say your awsome and a big help to my band since i know nothing about guitar(P.S. im a drummer) you give me something relate to when band is trying to learn a song. second can you please make a lesson on the beatles song rain.
Your great man , am I joking your the best :D , I would die to see you playing with G3 (Joe Satriani , Steve Vai , Marty Schvartz) . Thank you for existing Marty.
Hi Marty another guy slides up to the index finger on 10th fret on the e string, middle on the eleventh on the G from the initial chord at the D. Any comments. I really cant tell from the Beatles recording.
@AOTSismyhero marty, can you please teach how to play some BB king style stuff, or more preferably friend of the devil by the grateful dead? thanks for the lessons Mr schwartz.
It would be greatly appreciated if you could make a video on how to play "My Heroine" by Silverstein on Acoustic. Please and thank you. (: Also, you're a great inspiration and a cool guy from what I've seen - keep it up!
This video was fantastic! It was easy to understand too. Although on the G-minor chord that is right after the intro, I couldn't do it... I have really small hands (considering in a 13 y/o girl,). Are there any other ways I could do it?
I’ve been coming back to this vid over the years because of the intro with the dog, it’s so peaceful. Always think about it when the song plays

Marty you are the best guitar instructor on all of youtube, no, all of the internet. You deserve more credit and subscribers!
If you want to play the along with the song, I recommend you hear the version on the Let It Be... Naked
you can hear the guitar and vocals perfect.

I followed the link for the free e-book but the email I received only contained links to discounted courses, no e-book and nothing free.
Good job. Awesome song!
can you do a cover for George's song Run Of The Mill? Thanks!
If I don't have a capo, can I simply change the tuning of the strings? I don't really know alot about this, other than standard tuning.
A true acoustic riff is this, that makes the most of an acoustic guitar in a brighter minor mode: D#-Lydian, i'm guessing, lol Thanks. Good job🤗
what is that thing called that you put on the first fret
This video was fantastic! It was easy to understand too. Although on the G-minor chord that is right after the intro, I couldn't do it... I have really small hands (considering in a 13 y/o girl,). Are there any other ways I could do it?
