Blasphemous | Is It Worth Playing in 2023?

- With the release of Blasphemous 2 being right around the corner, I decided to go back and play the first Blasphemous game to find out if it’s worth playing in 2023!
Blasphemous is a Metroidvania action-adventure game set in Custodia, a dark, gothic, and overly religious place under the mercy of “The Grievous Miracle.” The main themes are blatantly shown with its stylized graphics, choice of words, direction of storyline, and especially in its lore and world-building. One look at it, and you know what you’re getting into, but does it all come together to form a good game?

Absolutely a masterpiece, got it the day it came out and loved it ever since
Worth noting that this game has a lot of replayability since you can never really finish the game completely on your own in one go unless you watch a walkthrough.
I would recommend not watching any walkthrough in your first playthrough and just go about the game in your own way so that the next would be so refreshing and rewarding at the same time.
No you cant finish the game in one go. You need NG+ to access amenidas
I bought it 3 weeks ago and it was worth it.
i highly recommend you to collect all the bones, get the true ending, and play through on ng+. you are missing out on some of the best bosses, prayers, and items by skipping these things. not to mention the story and lore..
Now that you mention it, I did get to unlock the door at the bones room, but I never got to finish the boss cuz it kept spanking my ass. I decided to come back to it at a later time, but ultimately forgot about it.
@valmayorbruh oh i recommend you give it a shot :) the feeling of beating her for the first time is amazing
@valmayorbruh definitely try it again, for a tip use a beed where you don't take dmg while healing and try to learn the frame attack where you can basically spam the attack if you do a uppercut and cancel it by crouching
@@Kiwiiizzz I didn't know you could animation cancel in this game. Seems like that would've been great advice during my first run of the game lol. I'll try to give it another go.
I've got over 60 hours on one save and the second game I've beaten twice. plus the NG+ gives you the last ending and it gives more of a challenge than the first run

im trying to beat crisanta with the extra phase right now with the fervor penitence and it's really hard
I got it for £5 playstation store sale. I'm at 23% and am really enjoying it. I'll certainly get the second game when I'm done with the first

I want this game, I’m only worried I’ll be unable to beat it. I’m even struggling with Elden Ring, so I’m not exactly great at video games.
It definitely has a learning curve, but it's much easier to get into. Most boss fights aren't too hard as well.

@@stevenjohnson8736 yup I did. I actually show parts of the ending cutscene from my playthrough in the video. Definitely didn't beat all the bosses though.

? It's only 4 years old.....
4 years old is a long time especially for a game like this that doesn't have that much replayability. The sequel's also coming out so a look back at this game could help people visualize what's coming in the sequel.
@@valmayorbruh Been playing since it came out. It's got a TON of replayability. Have about 120 hours in it.... It's among the best metrovania games of the last two decades. So psyched for the next installment.
@@DQ333 Definitely grabbing Blasphemous 2 as well! Trailers are looking like they're building on what they made with the first so I'm looking forward to what they make of the game

This game looks as if it can be played in the 90s no problem.
yeah the pixelated art style could be a turn off for some, but I think it adds to the charm of the game. It's actually what piqued my interest when I first saw it.

It's an amazing game, especially when you finally get the little hidden bits of lore together. I still have yet to try the second game though. Might get it soon!
