    I remember this show it was on in afternoon when i was a kid i thought it was the most boring show in the world. Looking at it now i would of loved to watch all the re-runs.

    Geez, this is the most British and most 70s adult thing I've ever seen. It's glorious.

    Thank you so much for this video clip, there in the studio were two of the famous Goon Show assemblage, and, despite decades of dedicated listening to Goons episodes, I had NEVER seen Ray Ellington in closeup before.

    I used to love this show. Dennis would always open with “if you’re one of those people who (for example) no longer combs your hair in the morning but arranges it, this is the programme for you “.

    My favourite part of this is Ray Ellington, who isn't even mentioned in the title, so it came as a delightful surprise. I've never heard his speaking voice before. But he's truly one of the most charismatic and fun band leaders and singers I know.

    Shame it's been edited to remove 'the turns' they were commenting on. Looks Familiar gave a fantastic retrospective on the early days of recorded entertainment and of course those who appeared on it are themselves now bygone legends of the entertainment world.

    This was only 1975 - nothing in terms of time, but every one you see here is now dead. ... You don't have long in this life everyone, make as much of it as you can, while you can.

      @starchildstrider lovely story i had a similar experience when i collapsed with heart failure woke up in a high dependency unit where i was not expected to last the night.remember feeling indifferent but then the man in the other cubicle died.i found out after it was anthony mingheela who directed the english patient what i recall i thought sod this its serious and somehow survived.i have now moved to spend my days with my granddaughter and yes i want to live.thankyou for a wonderful post

      @starchildstrider it was them told me! i had been inintensive care but this super level seemed to be all those who were dying!i was determined not to go! the good thing was due to my unexpected recovery i was still so ill they gave me a month so barts hosp picked me up for a private experimental surgery,my catheter ablation was the first one done in the world with a defective heart! didnt cure me but alleviated my symptoms and i had three years of private medical care free! currently my heart works at 20 percent capacity cannot exercise or strain it but the doctors are baffled as to why i still live! strict drug regime has helped but i live every day as it comes even more now i have a greand daughter ! see her every day she keeps me going.as far as i am concerned my last 9 years are a bonus which i want to enjoy for as long as i can!please keep in touch im on fb too loved your posts,

    Shame that Sellers decided not to play ball to the obviously rehearsed feed lines. Was he just in a bad mood? I don't think I would have had Dennis Norden's patience with him.

    • @mrstrellisfromnorthwales2704
      @mrstrellisfromnorthwales2704 3 года назад +3

      I take your point Sid. I suspect that it wasn't so much Sellers being surly, but simply him being a bit out of his normal comfort zone. Fortunately, Dennis Norden persisted and Sellers started to warm up and perform. I suspect that by the end Sellers really enjoyed the experience.
