Captain Ray has always fascinated me. I even made a custom of him not too long ago. I used a Superman Returns Superman as a base (found it at a garage sale this summer) and made his cape and emblem out of EVA foam.
Awesome 😁
I was only aware of those Euro-exclusive Transformers-the Masters and Tiger Force wave 2 are new to me. Fascinating stuff!
I think there might be a possibility to do a top 10 euro transformers vid 🤓
Capitan Rayo/Captain Lightning, my favorite of Latin America/South America knockoffs/extensions of a line. Even above Mexico's Kid Acero/Steel Kid's amazingly inventive line. If only he'd appear someday in the DCAU. Great video as always.
Thanks 🤓
My Favorite was The Real Ghostbusters released by JOSCA Argentina some really cool paint variations and head swaps and A modded Ecto1 just to name a few
Oooh i’ll have to check out the ecto!! 🤩
I love all the classic footage you use!
I try to find visuals that i’d like to see when talking about this stuff 🤓
You make the most informative and enjoyable toy related videos out there!
Thanks so much! Be sure to check out toy galaxy, analog toys, retroblasting and many more as well they have great videos!
Great video as always, keep up the good work. Starcom is another good example of a cartoon/toy line that was more popular and had a longer run in the EU than in the USA. We have quite a few exclusive starcom figures and vehicles here in the EU.
Awesome! I bumped into a few figures last week it is a line ive been trying to get into
Thanks for taking up the topic and a quality job indeed; no passport needed for this International Toy History!
Thanks for the great topic idea 😁🤘
Those MOTU giant figures are so sick!
They look pretty epic up close 😁
Great episode! Yakface is the only international figure I have in my collection.
He’s a good one to have 😁🤘
Dang, was hoping to see Captain Pollution!
Lemme check that one out for a follow ip vid 🤓
@@EdsRetroGeekOut I can’t remember the exact details, I just know he never came out in North America, and is ridiculously expensive now
@@EdsRetroGeekOut now that I think about it, I think the glow in the dark Duke Numem from Captain Planet is also European exclusive
That Vlix is super rare, i believe more rare than Yak Face.
Oh yeah definitly more rare 🤓
Great job. Always a hunt to even know what was available and what released were. 👍🏻
Thanks 🤓
The Abominable Snowman has to be Solomon Grundy from DC. Juguetes is pronounced "Who-gwetes" The J being pronounced "H" like in jalapeños. Fyi.
We got screwed on the Secret Wars line in the US.
I had no clue on how to pronounce that thanks for the fonetics 🤘😄
I had no clue that the Tiger Force G.I Joe line was an overseas exclusive !! Always learning new stuff from this channel ! Great episode
Not the entire line only those 6 are the exclusive part. A big part of the line came out everywhere 🤓
@@EdsRetroGeekOut Oh ok.. my bad ..lol
Another excellent well done video sir! These are fub & informative. I've loved those European exclusive GI Joe (Action Force?) & Transformers for some time. I have quite a few of the Tfs & am always looking for more &/ or parts. Problem is stateside they can get a little pricey... Of course, there's probably an endless number of toys you never got where you are either. Keep up the excellent work!
Thanks 🤓
Another great toy history installment, ed!
i owned that damn purple shredder... was a trade in 3rd grade with my classmate... no weapons, badly conditions but i had that grail... sadly traded in the early 2000 for Krang Body giant.... i was happy, and still i'm.... but i miss him
Great trade back then but now it’s a different story 😁
I had almost all of the G.I. Joe Tiger Force collection. Love the vehicles.
They did look pretty fancy 😏
Another excellent Toy history 👍👍👍
Thanks buddy 🤘
Hello Ed! Those Motu Giants were produced here in México, but never released here for sale, like many other figures from any franchise back in the 80s.
I’ve been hearing about that indeed 😎
Don’t even start me on knockoffs. I have so many amazing lines carrying over into other fake lines. Love them
So many great ko’s indeed 🤘🤓
Great Video Ed.
Thank you 🤓
Awesome content again! Thanks bro
Thanks 🤓
You look knackered pal. Have a rest and a great Christmas. All the best Ed 👍 peace
Yeah my kid hasn’t been sleeping well so I haven’t either 🤣
I would love to get my hands on a Tytus or Megator but won’t hold my breath. Great video.
Yeah i’ve seen tytus a couple times but they’re rare always in the hands of collectors 😄
Another brill toy history video
Thanks 🤓
That Megator 😍
Indeed 😏😎
Great history video!
Thanks 🤓
Thanks for doing this. It was interesting :)
Thanks for watching buddy 🤓
Keep up the amazing job!
Some company needs to make a modern Galaxy Rangers line. That would probably be the only way I could get them.
I think they do pop up in the uk quite often 🤓
Amy chance you can bring up and explore the 1991 Mattel line "Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes" action figure/monster packs? I had all of them and loved them, but never found the three elusive "vine arms & legs" tomatoes... to this day, they elude me.
Someday...
I’d love to get some of those they looks so good!!
I'm late to this but there is a pony in the my little pony collecting world named Nachtlicht (Nightlight) who is a German exclusive. She is extremely saught after by collectors.
I was looking at ponies as well but already had enough for an episode next installment i’ll try to grab some mlp for the vid 🤓🤘
You miss to mention the Dinosaucers líne exclusive from Brasil, and the secret wars didn't include a Thor whom Is a very important character into the Marvel universe and in the secret wars plot.
Good job my friend!, I enjoy your videos, greetings from México!
I already featured them recently in another episode about the unproduced ones but they could definitly be talked about when I revisit the topic
Ed's Restro Geek Out I remember knowing about Galaxy Rangers! I remember back in the day, I would see something like that in the 99¢ /1.00 stores. I don't remember what they were called. But I remember owning knockoffs Power Rangers toys.
The cartoon looks great ive seen some uk tubers pick up the toys i guess they got some released there
Galaxy Rangers was a good show, the alien races they would find was very creative to say the least.
Ow yeah 😄🤘
As a child of the 80s that had almost all of the Secret Wars line, I DESPERATELY still wish to find Hobgoblin, Electro, Constrictor and Iceman for my collection the second time around!
Unfortunately, I'm not rich and don't have hundreds to spend on each figure, so I guess those will remain out of reach...
Is hobgoblin that expensive? 🥲 then I should have picked him up
@@EdsRetroGeekOut He varies, but he never gets any cheaper than 100 or 150 USD.
Damn I shoud have grabbed him for 45€ then 😩😅
@@EdsRetroGeekOut LOL Yeah, my bro... you definitely should have.
Love your content, by the way! Loyal viewer!
Like I said once before, could you review the old 1991 Mattel line of Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes?
awesome video man thank u and hope u have a great christmas
Thanks 🤓🎄
@@EdsRetroGeekOut your welcome man
I wonder if you heard about GI Joe Battle Corps? It was basically a repaints of a lot of gi joes but also they had removable hats/helmets and missing launching weapons.
That was one of my favorite gi Joe lines.
Curious if you ever did a history of video of that line?
I was gonna do one on the extreme line 😅 the slightly bigger ones
Im from sweden and the purple shredder is the only one i saw i stores as a kid. But when i become an adult o saw the silver one in a flee market and i bought it
So there’s a lotta the purple ones in sweden eey 😏😏
Hey my dude, not sure if anyone mentioned it yet but I’m pretty sure with transformers Thunderclash, the turbomasters and the motorvators were euro and Australian with no US release. Love your work.
There’s a lot i think about 40 i should try doing a top 10 🤓
@@EdsRetroGeekOut I could defs get behind that. I really like the pace of your toy hunt vids. It’s something I’m trying to do with mine. Move through it quicker
The galaxy rangers has one of the best openings!
Definitely a great 80s opening epic!
Love your videos and was always confused about the Super Powers Riddler..was it official or a bootleg?
It keeps me going in circles as well it was officially part of the knock off line in 89’ but wether the line was partially licensed to that manufacturer I have no conclusive answer on 🤓
Regarding the final few Secret Wars figures, they weren't quite as random as it seemed. Marvel and/or Mattel figured once the mini was over (since neither comic shops nor TPB collections were terribly common yet in that era, there wasn't much use in continuing to promote the comic series) they would forgo adapting figures from it and go with characters making waves in other comics at that point. Hence why then-current big bads Zemo and Hobgoblin were chosen, Falcon had just had his first mini-series; with the Euro-releases, Electro had just been part of that Falcon mini, Iceman had a mini about to launch (plus the Spider-Friends deal mentioned) and Constrictor had been showing up in Captain America with frequency. Obviously, they went with ones that fit the figure mold, but that's why they were chosen specifically.
So the choices were kinda grounded if the comic sales were there but then again europe wouldn’t get those comics for a couple years 😅
it's more simple than that. mattel hire mike zeck (artist of the first mini-serie) for elaborate the toys of the second wave. mike zeck simply choose the marvel comics caracters he was drawing at that time: the new baron zemo, falcon and constrictor (his run on captain america), hobgoblin, black spiderman, daredevil, electro(his run on spectacular spiderman), iceman (from the miniserie).
@@alliethierry2573 "grumble grumble"....Well, I'm still technically right in a broad sense, it just happens Zeck was responsible for them being then-current characters. "grumble"
@@MadisonCarter lol, don't worry mr "grumble".
We also had super sentai toys in Europe way before saban got the license to make power rangers :)
Nice 🤩
@@EdsRetroGeekOut from sun Vulcan to jetman … I have my original non DX jet Garuda still in euro packaging with Bandai U.K. and toei marks on it from 1991 😁
Not quite retro like this channel usually is, but certainly coming up on being considered "vintage" to many, the Ben 10 line had a stage play, somewhere in India I think, which introduced two new aliens. They were never seen outside of this play. The gift shop sold figures of the two aliens, pretty sure these are up there as some of, if not the rarest figures in the line.
There was a thing with making European exclusive Gwens in the Alien Force/Ultimate Alien era. There was a variant where her head was casted in transparent pink plastic and everything but her eyes are painted so it looks like her eyes glow. The other variant was her casted in entirely pink plastic. Think her anodite figure, but without the transparent black mixed in, and it's her human mold with the ponytail. I think these are also up there as some of the most sought out international exclusives.
The franchise has a bigger fanbase in the UK and India, so there's a lot of exclusives. I think some of these made it to the states in multipacks, but if you want a MOC one, and it's just these characters alone, gotta go international. These characters are: UA Zombozo, Azmuth, and Sevenseven.
There's definitely way more, but Ben 10's toy history isn't as well documented as MOTU or TMNT (which is surprising, given it ran during the age of the internet), so a lot of what I can find on exclusives is very disorganized and unclear. Hope in the coming years it can be better recorded because I am fascinated.
Yeah it’s probably one of the last toylines that might really have a chance to be a nostalgic revival thing
The Dick Tracy line. We never got The Blank for fear it would reveal the film's plot twist. Then the line died pretty fast, so all the Blank figures (with Madonna's face under a removable mask) went straight to Europe.
Yeah i thought they got out in canada, i don’t think we got the blank in europe 🤓
Hey hey cool video buddy
Thank you 🤓
Love the content man from Ontario Canada
Thanks buddy 🤓🤘
Great Video
Thank you 🤓
Cool video. I think the Bengali example for Thundercats wasn't the best you could have used, both main version of the figure are pretty prevalent. The South American Playful version is a rarer variant, which was resculpted using a Tygra figure as the base. A better Euro example would be Grune with the skin coloured leg pads.
Ooh i didn’t know we had a eurovariant for Grune! In my collecting circles they usually always talk about bengali so I went with him. Will look a bit deeper into it. I like the story behind this how he was resculpted from a different starting figure. Thanks for letting me know
@@EdsRetroGeekOut No worries man. Grune is the Childbro version. I'd say Grune is more tricky to find than say Tygra, who you tend to see a lot. It's the red eyes one which I think you have from a previous video. The South American variants are the rarer stuff and Bengali and Lynxo are both up there in rarity and oddness since they're not like the LJN versions. Lynxo is a resculpted Jaga. Bengali comes with an axe. As well as playful you have the unitoys and glasslite stuff. A whole other rabbit hole to go down. You need more info hit me up, you have my email and FB.
Great video!! What happend to the room? Is it under construction?
We’re renovating the house so can’t go into the room to film 😩
I really hope that the MOTU Origins does Laser Light He-Man eventually
That would be nice i also hope they do some of the new adventures toys 😁
These are so Juicy...Straight Juice out the can. Well Done sir. I really liked the Tiger Force and Python Patrol line. Repaints but awesome. I had a bunch as a kid. I use to have the 3 Dinos from Motu. Sold them years back. Now they go for a ton. Really tough to get. I traded a dude at a local comic shop some Gobots for them. This was in the early 2000s when Motu wasn't in huge demand like these days. Rare figures loose like Scareglow I got off Ebay for $30. Nothing but Common figs for those prices today. Stay awesome dude!!!
Thanks buddy and yeah those dinos are going for a pretty penny now indeed 🤓
great vid again ed!!!
Thank you 🤓
I think that's El Capitan Rayo, (that means lightning in spanish). We've got some epic FALOPA as we say here in Argentina.
What’s falopa stand for?! 😄
@@EdsRetroGeekOut it's a way to say "drug" but we use it for "weird" or "strange" hahaha
Ok 😄 well you learn something new everyday
Ok 😄 well you learn something new everyday
I had the Argentinian Riddler figure, but I can't remember where he is now
Ok your not just a collector your a historian…..and a nice guy ok. I’m about to subscribe. Great video bud.
Thanks dude, historian 😅 well i’m interested in this kinda stuff
@@EdsRetroGeekOut me too bro need to do a post birthday MOTU Collection update just spent 1800 on motu lol mid life crisis
Capitan Rayo, the o is black behind the ray which is ray. Gulliver toys, jugetes is toys.
I figured jugetes wud be toys or games 😅
Not sure if the US got Robin Hood Prince of Thieves toys, I have the treetop playset which is pretty much a straight copy of the ewok village set, the set is still going strong but the figures were a bit fragile
When they add water or glow in the dark to the toys thats the toylines final run.
Usually it does indicate the end 🥲
Where did u get that hat?
Big Herc on instagram has them 🤓
I actually have an original comic of the super flash thing
Woah 😁🤘 that’s awesome
hi from Greece
Hi! Thanks for watching 🤓
Can You Please do a Video on Either And Or 'Captain Power' and or 'Captain Planet'
I’ve featured them both captain power is in episode 31 and captain planet in episode 4 i think 🤓
@@EdsRetroGeekOut Oh I’ve tired going to your channel and searching for it but I seemed to not get any Results back but I’ll straight search for it.
There’s a toy history playlist so you should be able to find em in there based on the title 🤓
@@EdsRetroGeekOut Oh Okay Thank You
55K before the end of 2021! 😇😇😇😇
Not sure about that but maybe 😜
El Capitan looks like Shazam.
He does indeed 🤣
The giants of Motu line never been sold on Mexico even they were made in Mexico
I remember seeing the giants in box for the first time and the vendor telling me this is an italian one but tytus is the mexico one. But never thought that it could just be manufactured in mexico for the europe market how odd it didn’t get released there
3:54 you’re sooo close… Juguetes is pronounced Who-get-tez. It means toys in Spanish but I’m guessing you know by now 😅
Almost 😄
Ed are you French Canadian? I notice you don’t pronounce your H’s … no hate just curious bro keep up the awesome work!
I’m from Belgium my native tongue is flemish, I don’t speak french 😅
@@EdsRetroGeekOut cheers brother I was wondering you speak excellent English I just took 5 years of French in school and the pronunciation of H’s was very similar lol.. sorry if I offended love your channel bro !
Ed, do a Sectaurs video.
Like a dedicated one or 😄
do you know what the next secret wars wave was planning to be? first: abomination, mystique, dazzler and thunderball then later(and better): hulk, she-hulk, mr fantastic and hannihilus. the shield was replace with some sort of huge skate-board. shame! no thor, doctor strange, thing, invisible woman, storm, phoenix, ultron, red skull, absorbing man..
Epic I hadn’t heard about those 😁
I thought you was american ut apperently im wrong. Are you from the nederlands?
Nah from Belgium 😁🤘
hero mashers monsters
I’ll check those out 😁
@@EdsRetroGeekOut they came out in europe so should be easy to find
México has another great toy variations, iga transformers
Ooh that’s nice
You should give me all your Euro exclusives. We won World War 2 dammit!
🤣👌 like i wasn’t gonna give em anyways
Toy history beyblade
I was too old for beyblade 😅
@@EdsRetroGeekOut ok
