Keith's story through childhood and young adulthood sounds similar to mine. I am one of 12 kids from a home with zealous Christian parents. Unfortunately, my doubts have been unshakeable since childhood. Compulsively studying for answers for years and feeling abandoned by God left me in a deep depression by age 19. I chose to continue living for the sake of my family, but I had to step away from trying to prove God for the sake of my mental health. I was able to pick up studying theology again in my mid-twenties with the support of my husband. We are now in our thirties and have come to terms with our agnosticism/atheism. I'm finally at peace with my existential questions, but it is still too painful to be open to my parents about my understanding of the world. Their pain and disappointment feel like too much to carry when I always wanted to be a good daughter and a rule following person.

Thank you for your transparency. Struggling with doubt isn't easy, especially when it is deeply personal and relationally challenging. It must be a relief to have come to terms with your views. If you're still open towards working through some of your doubts, it might be helpful to read Gary Habermas's book Dealing with Doubt (www.amazon.com/DEALING-DOUBT-Gary-R-Habermas/dp/B0BQXW49BD). Another terrific resource to talk with some extremely knowledgeable people about your particular doubts is talkaboutdoubts.com. Lastly, if we can connect you with a former skeptic or doubter to talk about your questions, let us know! Thanks for listening and responding to Keith's story.

@sidebstories Thank you for responding and providing resources. I am already familiar with Habermas and many other apologists' work. I continue to study comparative theology, church history, and the ancient near eastern context, out of which Christianity formed. I find it all very interesting now that I can look at it neutrally and without fear.
I appreciated this interview popping up in my recommended videos because I'm always curious how people of similar backgrounds work through deeper questions about theology. I would love to see a part two to this video where Keith gets more specific about what his doubts were and what answers he found intellectually satisfying.
