The GU Patrol build gets a new look with some fresh Superior Engineering Suspension! This kit absolutely transforms the car and the amount of travel it now has is insane.. This suspension has absolutely blown me away, I've always used Superior in my 4wds but this is the DREAM setup, this is what all my builds have lead me to end up with and to say I'm stoked is an understatement

Using the hoist at work we install this suspension into the Patrol! The kit I chose is;
4 Inch Front Coils

why are the radius rods bolted horizontaly,???...when the pin, allows more movement.???.. or do superior think its better.???... & why are the coils loose.. ??.. they should be tied in top / bottom, so you dont rely, blow a fkng shock.. zeeez you do some sht in this country..@@RoamLyfe

Insane! Love that you are doing it all yourself (with some mates helping out of course). Keen to see how the build progresses and what you decide for bar work. Also to keep the snorkel or go stainless? Currently it’s rocking some staunch grandpa vibes.

Ah, following so keenly, you are making followers so jealous I'm sure.
I brought my 2016 brand new in Jan 2017.
As I knew my payload was truly going well beyond specs, so I opted for GVM upgrade. Only supplier on offer for Federal compliant upgrade prior to rego at the time was Pedders, so Pedders it is. The chassis strengthened at rear towers by bolt in tower braces, rear diff housing reinforced by bracing.
Rides great, enough flex for the tourer I was developing, but man that is crazy flex you're getting.
Watching so keenly for anything I can incorporate into my build.

what was the reason for doing different sus heights, why didn't you do just both 3 inch or both 4?
One thing you didn't cover was the rear drive shaft pinion and transfer case output shaft alignment with the upper adjustable control arms. Also a good thing to tighten and torque all arms when vehicle has loaded the suspension on the floor

Thats awesome u got given a 10k suspension set up for free, anything over a 2" lift is a defect in WA tho..
Two years ago I really wished I owned a Patrol and I’d do this. Now that I own a Patrol, I now wish I had the money to get this type of equipment 😂 Top stuff mate, great video. Now let me go cry myself to sleep and think of ways to make some cash. 😂

How come you went for 4inch front and 3 rear? What's the benefit? Are you going to go a steel bar and winch which will even it out? I assume the rear would be loaded more. Cheers

You could’ve drop the diff on the hoist. Watch your brake lines. And keep radius arm bushes tight. It’ll just bind up and stop.

You’ll definitely have to get @superiorengineering to send out a long arm kit.
It doesn’t just sort out the rear steer. But it makes the lower arms push the car forwards more. Because of the flatter angle they don’t push the vehicle upwards as much under power.
They should send me some 16” coilovers at the same time 👌

@Roam Lyfe suspension!! @inspire4x4 ..Flat rack awning and solar pannel would be sick thats what im about to do to mine...also a head light and tail light mod. Wouldnt look half bad bro.. also build a rear set up dual battery fridge and all that for when ya not towing the trailer.. and a stainless snorkel make the wheels pop more.. and some more performance mods.

Would you ever think of doing a buget gq build that is engeered. Maybe a tb with reduction gears or some thing. Some thing that the average Joe could make. Rock sliders and bull bar winch and rear bar with 1/4 chop. And try and do it as much on a budget. Wouldn't have to be a clean rig but a bush machine that can Most go every were

it doesnt have the guts to turn 37,s.. plus, all the bearings, ratio,s would have to be changed for the extra weight.. a d44, strong as a 9'' ford diff, will stand 35,s , with no mods, any bigger you need a d60.. maybe watch yank vids,,you learn more..

I didn’t see tower braces in the rear. Should of done this while doin the suspension hood piece of mind there common to bend/rip off

instead of dropping the diff onto stands you can use ratchet straps to hold the diff up by strapping to chassis

Great vid. I ran superior in my old gu 4.8 with 5 inch lift and efs extreme shocks. Worked really well, but this new gen gear they have takes it even further.

@@RoamLyfe yeah the OME was on the GU when i got it but its very rigid gear. Definitely looking into the superior 3 inch kits though.

Is there any reason you didn’t do a rear tower brace while you were at it?
Definitely a missed opportunity. GUs are notorious for breaking rear towers once they are loaded up.
I have rear aircon and brake lines that are a bitch to fit the brace in! I was actually thinking about welding some angle iron across the two!
Ahhh I see, guess that would require some moving of lines and having to lift the cab up I assume
@@RoamLyfe if you were to weld a brace in, still curious how you'd fit it in, hope you do a good job of it.
I opted for bolt in tower bracing brackets, cause as you say, no room for top bracing, well not without a body lift.

$9600 for everything including the sway bars, the kit alone without sway bars was around $6500 and minus a few other things
