      to be fair, if you do it regularly the pain just dissapears on the moves that used to hurt. But that doesn't last forever unfortunately lol. Ive been am athlete my whole life, martial arts , bodybuilding, and powerlifting, I was humbled BIG TIME doing yoga. That was years ago, and afterwards I added yoga and some other aspects of yoga type athletics into my routine , never to be the best at it, but to fill the gaps in my fitness level and maintain movement and flexibly for longevity into my life. Now at 45, retired from the stage, coaching martial arts rather then competition, I am still able to do everything I alwats have been due to that lesson in humility. Athletes often fail to understand how dangerous being one dimensional can be to the body, the gaps in joint, muscle, organ, and tie ins can be career ending and even worse in the long run. Keeping the spine, joints, and heart and lungs healthy should be first , idc how built you are, how strong or explosive, maintaining flexibility and health often take a backseat or are forgotten in fair of being the best , but we can only be the best for a small period of time, age catches up and injuries pile up, so take care of yourselfs, learn something like this, yoga , or whatever makes you interested, once a week is better then never, and even translates into being better at what your doing.

    I used to pole/do aerial and now I rock climb. All three of those are really forearm heavy activities and despite gymming, working out your forearms is kinda not a thing most people do. It’s always a big adjustment when I take a break and come back. Between my grip strength and forearms, I am always super sore regardless of how much time I’ve spent lifting/doing cardio.

    • @lurklingX
      @lurklingX Год назад +3

      ah, rock climbing is another thing i wanna try, along with pole. for all those reasons. plus, it's kind of a mental challenge as well - not just pushing weights at gym but trying to accomplish a task/goal. like, a pole/gymnast move, or to take a path up the wall.

    • @Schwarzmalerxxx

      Aerial rope is also VERY hard if you don't have good forearms/developed grip strength. I did pole for a couple years, started doing rope and was humbled.

    The pain never gets any better, btw... You just get used to it.
    Also, you have the perfect body comp to really get far in pole sport. The strength you carry over from weight lifting is very applicable. Some of the strongest people I know are acro's and polers.

    Pole can be really humbling 😂😂 I have always been active, I played handball during high school, always trained at the gym, pilates, yoga, and tried everything, then during 2018-2022 due to work, and then pandemic, I fully stopped. Started again at the gym for 8 months, was feeling strong, then decided to do pole, thought it was gonna be ok because I was feeling good at the gym............... damn, I was wrong! It's been almost 9 months of pole now and I loved it for life, I feel strong, but there is also grip, flex, and conditioning, is so intense, but equally beautiful. Highly recommend pole sports for everyone who is looking for a full-body workout 💖💖

    Nice one, and it's interesting how some strength skills of style can train muscles unknown to even body builders. Specific muscle training is something I try to work on these days. That sounds obvious, but as you have come to know here, not so obvious, but only activating them. An example is the chest for me, there is a bunch of muscles I'm missing activating and had to incorporate them into my routine. I'm finding new ones from time to time. Another unexpected tough routine are Yoga or Pilates, not as easy as one would assume like here. Fun styles patty and cool change up.

    yeah i looked into poledancing before partly just for the gymnastics and EFFORT. like, it's different than just lifting weights and being strong. it's kinda like how calisthenics isn't easy just because you're strong from the gym. i like the idea of functional movement strength.
    haha thanks for this! it's actually encouraging to see that even if you're buff, something like this can be difficult. so it's like..... a more even playing field for all beginners.

    I had to check a pt because my wrists, forearm and hands were all messed up, was tendonitis, then began hitting gym afterwards. Now I'm at 3 or so months working out consistently and I can only max out at 5 pull ups at once. My grip tho, is almost guaranteed to die afterwards, on the other hand pole dancers are straight up performing smooth movements while gripping vertical poles and maintaining so much coordination.
    Never came to think about pole dancing and how demanding it must be, but now that I get to think about it, this takes a lot of work and these people have so much grip. Props to whoever had the patience and endurance to develop such skills.
