    I worked at a Wal-Mart in Fort St. John, BC as a customer service desk associate the very same year you made this video and the returns supervisor I worked beside was so antisocial, rude and suspicious that I ended up quitting because I couldn’t stomach seeing how she was treating people. She actively told someone that we didn’t need their continued service because it was Wal-Mart. Now that is beyond reality. Support your local game stores, people!

    Can confirm the system had been down for the past month. I work at one, and I couldn’t even log into the system to see what my schedule was, I had to go in and see official paperwork for everyone’s schedule and find mine.
    And also, i had a very similar situation, a few of the people there thought I was trying to scam them for some reason when returning a product.
    And one time, I went to a $5 game bin, got duck tales for the Xbox 360, and it rang up as $20, told them I found it in the bin, didn’t believe me, then I told them if they wanted to see if I’m not lying, check the cameras, they got the manager, he went back on the footage, saw that the game had been in the bin for the past 2 weeks or something at the bottom and I had just then got it, by this point, I’ve been in Walmart for an hour and a half just trying to get DuckTales, and thankfully I managed.

  • @Ireland1229

    I know exactly how you feel. I worked in a hotel for over two years and retail for over ten years here in Dublin, and some of the things that were said to you were simply beyond repeating, and your only crime was doing your job trying your best to help people while managers sat on their arses all day. Sometimes retail encounters are as stressful as it can get in general. I walked into a retail store a few years ago and I remember an English guy who was quite a good bit in front of us in a queue was talking to a young woman who was serving him at the till and she was pregnant, and she was unable to give a refund or something like that there and told him he needed to go to the front desk, so he told her that he hoped her baby came out stillborn. Management said nothing because he was a paying customer, therefore the customer is always right. She was crying her eyes out. That's the world we live in now sadly.

  • @XFreedomPrimeX

    I use to be a front end manager at Walmart and there was a simple solution to this. All they had to do was process the return without the receipt, which would return the item at the current price to a gift card. You can override the price back to the full value, and have a store manager convert the gift card to cash (its called cashing out a gift card).
    Sometimes online orders don't process properly with Walmart store system, they are two separate systems.
    In the year I managed that front end, I had to deal with alot of shitty situations like this. Walmart OS for their online orders is garbage.
    Walmart employees and managers i think enjoy telling customers "sorry, there is nothing I can do" lol

    I had a similar thing happen with GameStop recently. I’m extremely patient like you, but all of the sudden the frustration level just boils over. I've worked in retail and/or customer service for years; Never go to a new store unless you are buying something. Many employees are either new and just went through training, or transfers that just got/want a promotion. That usually means everyone being overly cautious about theft and scams. A Walmart opened near me years ago, less than a quarter mile from a parochial, an elementary, a middle, and a high school. A month or so after opening (and no incidents) there was a door greeter that would tell people they couldn't enter with backpacks (which made no sense as he would not say anything to you if you had come in the other door and were leaving through his). As far as I know it only lasted 4 days, because that was the next time I went back with my kid after school (and calling the manager) and not a word was said.

  • @Turbotef
    @Turbotef 5 лет назад

    I believe this because Walmart's self-checkout charged me $212x4 back in 2012 and I had to fight with the main manager for 2 weeks to get my money back. She was a figgin' nightmare to deal with and didn't bother to verify my receipts or bank statements for the first week.

  • @theodorerelic2718

    Here's a suggestion, if you haven't done it already. Get the phone number of your Wal-mart's regional manager. You may be able to get it online, but there's a good chance that Wal-mart (or others in the area) will have the regional's name and office number posted. Once you get it, remember the names of the clerks you dealt with (especially the asshole noob).
    Call them during their office hours (preferably in the morning, before they have their lunch) and, once you get hold of them, explain the situation to him/her and how frustrated you are (while remaining calm and keeping it professional). As long as you tell them who is involved, and what store you tried to return the item at, there's a decent chance they will contact the
    store and tell them to refund your money. The last thing a regional wants to hear from is an unhappy (and potentially lost) customer.
    I worked in retail for 13 years and was often in contact with local, regional management as well as dealing with COO of this chain. Every situation is different, but there's a good chance that your Wal-mart's regional will get it done.

    One time I got the game RockSmith for Christmas. I owned a cheaper made bass guitar, and the game wouldn’t work with it. The game was supposed to be compatible with any guitar, but it obviously was not. We took it back to Walmart, and they were like “it’s opened we can’t do anything, contact the company who made the game.” We called Ubisoft, who says to go to Walmart. We go back and explain, and finally after arguing they offer to give me another copy of the game. I’m just a kid at the time so my mom explains “Another copy of the game isn’t going to work. The game itself isn’t broken, it isn’t compatible with his console and guitar.” They then say again “we can just give you another copy of the game. Thats it.” We call Walmart customer service and explain to them the situation and they tell us to go back in the store and ask for the manager to see what he can do. We fought tooth and nail before having to get a manager on scene who also refused to do anything and acted like a total prick. Eventually we left, and as we were driving home my mom got a call on her cell phone from Walmart customer service telling us to come back to the store for a refund. They even had to give us a gift card for like 15$ because of all the trouble we went through and the fact we lived over an hour away, and had already started home when they called. The gas and time we spent alone fighting for a refund was worth more than the 60$ game. That company has terrible customer service.

    I'm really sorry that happened to you. I work for a WalMart in the USA and that's absolutely absurd. There obviously are some policy differences between countries (you can mail online purchases back instead of going to a store for one), but even thinking of giving you less than what you paid for the item back, when you have the receipt/paperwork showing what you paid is ridiculous and shouldn't have even been an issue.

  • @AssociationAdmirer
    @AssociationAdmirer 5 лет назад

    As someone who has worked retail recently, I am astounded at the incompetence of Walmart on two counts here. First, that their system for processing returns can go down. I worked at Staples, and the only two possible ways they can be unable to process a return in the system are if the computers all crash or if there's something wrong with the attempted return itself (e.g. the purchase was so many years ago that it's no longer logged in the system). I don't understand how being busy can make their system not work, or even make it work any slower than usual. Second, that if they can't process a return in the system, they're completely helpless to do anything. If I was unable to process a good faith return in the system at Staples, I'd just run it as a manual return and log the UPC code. The return would be done in under five minutes.

It's never worth it to stonewall a customer who clearly paid for an item and isn't at fault for their system's glitches, and I say that as someone who has had plenty of experience in retail.

    This is so strange. I worked at Wal-Mart as a CSM (manager over the cash registers) for a few years and when the computer would fuck up a manager could just override and pretty much do whatever they wanted. We would occasionally give refunds with no box, no UPC, no receipt etc when we thought the customer was being truthful. I'm surprised at some point, in this situation, a manager didn't just step in and take care of you. Its been 15 years since I worked there, maybe the policies have changed. Sorry to hear about this, I hope you get it worked out.

    Same exact story here, almost word for word. I've been trying since December 26th to bring back my extra Playstation Classic, and they kept bouncing me from store to store, and wouldn't accept it online, only in store, and store said only online could do it. After talking to 3 people, and several failed promises later I finally was sent a UPS return label and got rid of it, on the last day of returns for Christmas electronics on January 9th. I was accused of being past the deadline, even though I proved on their own website that they accept electronics returns until January 9th. It's almost as if they kept trying to delay it long enough that I would either give up or pass the actual deadline and drop the case. I know they don't want these consoles back, but it's not my problem, and they have policies the need to accept. I'm just glad it's gone and my money is back.

    I had almost the same problem with GameStop. Preordered it. Received by mail. Never opened it. Tried to return it at a store. They said they don't process online orders because inventory count are different from warehouse and store (the heck, right?)
    Called online support. Put my phone on audio record. They sent me a shipping label. I took pictures and videos of the box condition while packaging it. Sent it out to be refunded. Warehouse received it. Processed my refund after Christmas. Only received $60 plus tax.
    Called back. They said my package was opened and can only give me $60. Like what do you mean only $60, it's on the shelf everywhere in the USA for $60 I bought it for $100. As well it's unopened. Asked for a manager, manager got on the phone and asked if i had proof that it wasn't opened. Okay, i do actually, send him an email of pictures and a video of me packaging. He then said I never gave them an invoice number of how much i actually paid for it and I should be lucky I got cash back to my card. I then said how the hell did I get a shipping label if i didnt have a the invoice number? Emailed him the audio recording of me and tech support with me giving them the order number/invoice number.
    You can tell they're trying to scam the consumers, so I told them, "oh yeah by the freaking way, my brother and I earned almost 120,000 reward points this past year alone. Do the math, do you really want us to start buying everything off Amazon or Target?" He put me on hold, probably checked my GameStop rewards points my brother and I piled up, which was 266,000. Manager got back on the phone after 5 minutes and said hes sorry for the inconvenience. Twenty minutes later, bank notification said my account was refunded $100. They never even asked for the $60 back.

    I worked at walmart for almost 11 years now, and worked in electronics overnight for the last 6 months. Nothing here surprises me, nothing... I can even see within the last 1 year to 6 months things are getting worse and worse, and something soon has got to give. Problem with Walmart is they are screwing their associates over (especially part time, even right now not giving us even one day to work a week).
    We also never sold the PS classic at our Walmart (though one was returned recently, prob online order)
    Also Walmart (especially with the last 4 years) changes things around every 4 to 6 months. There are times wm overnight at our store don't even know what the hell is going on, no communication. it gets frusterating, and we have some awesome hard workers overnight.

I went back to the game department and picked up every single copy of Sniper 2, brought them to the front counter, pulled out my pocket knife and asked, "Do you want me to open every one of these here to prove to you that they don't have product keys? I will not be scammed by a Fortune 500 company."
