I live in the Yukon where guys from Asia, Europe and South America spend 50,000 dollars to come hunt with their 4,000 dollar rifles, 2,000 dollar glass and 10,000 worth of kit only to miss their shot 😂. I've bagged Bison, Moose, Caribou and Sheep with my 700 dollar savage.
Same here in maine, we have all these people from down in mass who come up here and go to northern maine where they'll go to a "fly in only" cabin and then manage to miss a giant deer or a fish
Good example of cost is not the only thing that matters. Training ,practice, and familiarity with a firearm is more important. I see people buying a professional level product like a digital slr camera and never take it out of automatic mode. Over spending is just as foolish as under spending.
I want to make something quite clear. We DO NOT sell guns for a living. I don't care what you buy as long as your happy. We do not "own" Moss Pawn, we don't even work there anymore. We are merely trying to share some experiences with people for what's it worth.
A Maverick 88 for home defence at 19 and a S&W Sheild at 21. That's what I managed to afford at those ages but not until I did extensive research (much of which was thanks to Eric and Barry. Thanks to you two! #RIPBarry)
I'm broke, and I saved 325 dollars and bought a used m&p 9mm range kit. Came with 3 mags and a speedloader. It even came with a mag pouch so I can carry all 3 mags with me. That's only 125 more than a hi point.
EIP your full of shit, I been married for 16 years myself and I love my wife beyond words and would do anything I could for her but sometimes I want to kill her......
The funny thing is going to be is in a shtf situation, someone is going to have 6 grand in tactical shit and someone with a 150 dollar .22 ruger with a 40 dollar optic with a tree branch for camo is going to punch his ticket... Injury and or firearm death pretty much comes down to being at the wrong place at the wrong time!!
I buy all kinds of guns. I buy 1 really nice gun every year and then I just buy budget guns the rest of the year. I own $2000 guns and $ 150 guns and I love them all
Understood. Quality matters. Got it. That said. Waiting for the next level when you need to put rounds downrange now helps you how much? Get what you can get now and practice with it. If that's a stick, practice being deadly with a stick. If it's a .22, practice being deadly with a .22 and so on. IMHO Note: Eric said it @27:58. "Doesn't matter what you buy make sure you're proficient with it."
huddless50 I was given a couple of guns from my dad in his passing. One is a .38 Snubby S&W and the other a Beretta 950. Proficient with both. Licensed to carry them both before I bought a SIG.
I know it’s 2 years later but man it matters. The difference in a $500 and $1200 AR-15 is not a reliability one, it’s a durability one. PSA ARs have the worst QC and I would not trust my life to one. You don’t need a $3000 DD or KAC but at least get a $1200 BCM. You won’t regret it.
IMO there is no reason to buy a Hi-Point anymore with the Taurus PT111 and PT140 Gen 2s being so dirt cheap. You can get a Taurus PT111 for 199$ sometimes, and 225$ or less all the time, and it's an immensely better gun than a Hi Point. The PT111 is the 9MM model and holds 12+1, comes with 2 mags, compared to the 8 rounds in a Hi point 9mm, and the Hi Point comes with 1 mag. The Taurus is basically a Glock clone, so it field strips the same as a glock, operates basically the same way as a Glock so the reliability is honestly comparable(test sample of 1, YMMV). The Hi Point is a giant pain in the ass to field strip, it uses the FIRING PIN to eject rounds, so you have a chance of ND every time you take a live round out of the chamber, fuck that. I've got over 700 rounds through my PT111, only had an issue once when I was using aluminum cased ammo, one of the rounds had a pretty large dent in it which made it impossible for the extractor to contact the case. For 25-50 more bucks than a Hi Point, there is no reason not to get the Taurus(or even something like a Sccy) instead.
The Taurus is not made in the U.S.A. Not saying I don't own any foreign guns I'm saying I got my safe joker hi point 45 New for 129.99. Got it for the back up to the back up bug out bag and to prove it's a viable option for emergency situations
+Chris Williams Actually a lot of Taurus guns ARE made here in the USA. It's why Taurus has Taurus USA. They make a lot of their stuff in Florida, many of the Gen 2 PT's are all US made. Doesnt mean some money isnt going back to the parent company in Brazil, but that's expected. The Taurus is much better than a Hi-Point for the price point. If you buy used or get one on some sale you'll always get a Hi-Point cheaper. But for the average price everywhere, the Taurus will be a better buy for the money. They're easier to take down, more ergonomic, the PT111 takes Sig P226 mags, and the PT140 takes Sig P229 mags as well, which makes them a good option with available magazines. True blue Sig mags are expensive but MecGar makes solid mags for the Sig at half the cost.
Christopher I learned something there. Did not know that Taurus manufactured in the U.S. The high point is a clunk of shit as far as ergonomics and aesthetics.
Would love to see you guys do a "loadout" series. Pick an area of operations (Amarican mid-west, the Amazon, ect, ect.) a condition or situation (solider of fortune, SHTF ect, ect). Then from those factors create a loadout that you would carry. Have a primary, secondary and sidearm. You could also go into what kind of gear you would use. Might be a great way to talk about some equipment or firearms that you cant seem to find a spot in some of your other videos.
Holosun is Great, almost like my Aimpoints(I say almost because Aimpiont has been proven to be amazing) but based on my experiences Holosun is also great
eyeofth3b3hold3r I am not a marine in war conditions. Grabbing my rifle in my living room, I feel just as confident with a Holosun as an Aimpoint. In the mountains of Afghanistan in a crowded Humvee with IEDs everywhere yea ok, go with Aimpoint
Taurus 5 shot revolver (all steel) 38 special +p right now sells for $189-$30 rebate=$159 brand new. Beat all what u r talking about including the GDR mac
This argument goes both ways. People buy expensive rifles and then put cheap optics on it. But, I also think that, since, " your life may depend on it" that the market takes advantage of that fact. I always see this argument aimed at the end user and NEVER at the manufacturers. Thankfully, there are companies, like Vortex, who came in and filled a very necessary gap. I've watched the high end optics start coming down because of these mid-range companies. There needs to me more mid-range companies.
Great video as always. I am a son of a WW2 veteran. My Father served in the U.S. Navy from 1933/45' his last two years 43/45 deployed on the U.S.S. Wasp in the South Pacific, he always told me "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR", although I'am only 47, he tought me a lot that has rang true through the years. Eric & Chad you guys are spot on. Save your penny's and focus on whats real and keep in mind...this is one of my favorite quotes I follow. "IN RUSHING TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS, IT WILL ONLY LEAD YOU TO FAILURE"... Do your homework and keep it real. Thank you all at iraqveteran 8888 Kind regards! Eric Dee.
I tend to agree with you guys on a lot of your videos the one thing I will interject here is if there is a trend in the customer base in the gun world or people having such a hard time to scrap together finances to get a reliable, that's where I draw the line in my purchases is on reliability. Then maybe the industry needs to recognize that need for more cost effective reliable service firearms but what it appears to me, and granted I'm writing this at the 6 min mark here, is that the industry is so focused on that next contract with an "abc" from where ever and squeezing it for all the juice that they refuse to seek that solution. Perhaps more feedback geared to the manufacturers or micro manufacturers could help resolve the struggle it wasn't but 40 yrs ago you could buy a service revolver for not $18-20 from a good manufacturer that had built their reputation on reliability. But gone is that day.
C-Bomb while I am well aware that inflation has occurred I still find it particularly odd that while steel and raw material has remained at relatively low cost, key is relatively. Cost of development and technological gain always rates production of current and past technology at a lower cost to the end user hence why a 32gb sd is now roughly $13 when 3 yrs ago they were 4 times as much. Same technological product but as technology in an industry improves the cost to manufacture current and past technology goes down for the intended consumer.
My wife's fist hand gun purchase was a used Glock 23, purchased a .357 Sig barrel and and 9mm conversion barrel (+9mm mags) all for the price of a new Glock. We now have a pistol that shoots 3 calibers, perfect life and liberity weapon in my opinion. It also came with Trijicon Night Sights and 3 .40 S&W mags!
Remember the types of people who you are talking about dont know anything about guns, and I think its safe to assume they think any new gun will work when they need it, they know nothing about break in times or have any connection to good or "bad" brands or anything, they just want something to protect themselves and want to be cheap about it...These are the same people who will buy that gun load it with a full magazine and put it in a drawer and let it sit there for years and years not even firing it once...Its a start to a good mindset but not quite getting there, lol people doing things half*ssed isnt new right? haha nice they have a gun but its probably more dangerous to them then helpful at that point, these are ALSO the people who you hear on the news because their dumb kid found it and shot his friend...
Are you saying there aren't gun snobs on the internet? People who have an inexpensive gun don't care what gun you have ,they just hate the condescending attitude about what you have, and your contempt for their's. A good value gun + lots of ammo(training) is a win in the real world.
Fast Lane your welcome.. have you started your Christmas shopping yet? I'm almost done mine. I like to get it over with early, can't stand the crazy busy malls. I really hoping to get the yellow mighty morphin power ranger this year. I've been extra good so I'm sure I'll get it
What I truly like about iraqveteran8888 videos is, besides fun content, the fact that you mention good old Barry and what were his views on the subject matter. We all miss him. Cheers
PSA from time to time practically gives guns away. A Ruger American Pistol (Full Size) was $249.99 That's a good deal for not much more than a hi-point
Because I disagreed with his comment? Last time I checked being a free American gives me the right to disagree with someone. Unlike people like you who think we should all think exactly alike. Good luck with that.
I came a crotch hair close to buying a hi point for my first handgun. I lucked out and a used S&W came along a week before I was gonna pick it up. LOVE IT!
I've own a Jaminez 9MM for 6 years now and have fired well over a 1,000 through it and it has never failed. I agree it a bit heavy to carry but it's accurate and reliable. And as a former Army Ranger I love it.
This may be apples to oranges but in my ham radio hobby I started out with less valuable used stuff; fixed it up, sold it bought some little better stuff, fixed it up, sold it and finally bought a new item I wanted all along. I did not spend any of the household money after the first used item. I think this works with cars, houses, dogs...and guns! Thanks for the video, Greg.
don't get me wrong, im very pro second amendment, but imagine in times square if some untrained civilian starts popping shots off because someone came at em with a knife. while it is unfortunate that you are not able to legally defend yourself in teh most efficient manner, those misses are extremely likely to hit and possibly kill other bystanders. it's tough, but in a place that densely packed, it could very likely result in higher loss of life than just taking one for the team. in the rest of NYC tho, it should definitely be legal to conceal. i also dont hear about many violent crimes in times square, likely due to the density, so it would most likely be a non-issue even with civilians concealing a firearm.
Excellent presentation that is sorely needed. Novice gun buyers are severely unaware, and often severely traumatized by television. They're scared when they go into a gun shop, and many are shaking when they get to the range. The level of your presentation was for beginning swimmers, not people who've never been in the water., although the information will be very useful when they reach a level of understanding. NRA certified, I taught shooting at a State university as a credit course. I helped run a public range in a large mid-west city. We finally banned "Saturday Night Specials" because were always a problem, especially in the hands of a nervous new shooter who left the gun shop thinking he or she got a deal! Keep up the good work.
WTF, a High Point is a reliable firearm, yeah, laugh all you want, but they are a reliable brick of a weapon. Crude, cheap, heavy, simple, terrible trigger, but reliable. It will reliably shoot a bullet at your target. So many tests prove this. And if all you need is a gun for the nightstand, you really don't need anything more expensive than that.
honestly though why would I spend $160 on a highpoint when a taurus pt111 is the same price Hell I can grab a used lc9 for $150, or sd9ve for less than $200 If it's for home defense why not buy a maverick 88 or what ever other cheap shotgun, It's better suited for the task. "you really don't need anything more expensive than that" until you do... this is just a loaded statement. Like I'm a 6'2 220lb guy, I probably don't need anything more than a baseball bat, but that's not the point.
My first gun was an M&P Shield 9mm. I watched tons of videos and decided I would probably like it the best. Saved for three months to get it. Worth every penny.
Honestly saying a lower priced optic isn't good enough to protect your life with is kind of annoying. You can get by with a $200 Vortex just as well as an Aimpoint or something similar. This just sounds like elitism because you PREFER something. I guarantee you if it came down to it and you REALLY needed to defend your life in a random circumstance, your Vortex will serve you the same exact way. Training is key as you guys are well aware of.
I have a cheep BSA red dot on my 500 Persuader 18" that I can hit skeet with. I've had it for several years with no issues. If It does ever fail I can still see the bead through the glass so win win in my book.
On my 18th birthday i pinched pennies for a used Mossberg 835. Put aside some money for 3 years and on my 21st birthday i purchased a new Kimber Master Carry Pro.
Anyone will tell you that after working with tools for a while, you REALLY appreciate QUALITY tools. I had a shitty table saw for a year or two, then I got a real nice cabinet saw. What a difference!!! Same with guns. I used to have a cheap .22 rifle that jammed up on me all the time, then I bought a nice Belgium made Browning SA .22. WOW, what a difference it made. It was super accurate, better point ability, and never jammed. Also, you can really see the quality difference in revolvers too!! don't buy a cheap revolver.
I learned the hard way with my first hunting rifle, I had to modify the magazine for it to even work properly. Changed it out for a Browning X-bolt .308 win. It has a very smooth bolt action, a surprisingly good factory trigger and the duracoating is great! Now I'm putting together a $7000 marksman rifle, I finally convinced myself to do it after being involved in the gun community for 6 years.
167swap1 I agree, I picked up a .40 Glock 22 LEO trade in today to complement my Kel-Tec Sub-2000. Condition was fantastic, it could have passed for new if it had been cleaned a little better.
i agree. i buy quality firearms, that doesn't mean expensive. i just got a Thompson center compass 308 with a vortex scope. after $75 rebate i am in the gun for $272 from Kentucky Gun Co. it is an amazing rifle. sub 1 in moa out of the box. well made gun. amazing trigger. threaded free float barrel. i like it as much some of my $1000 rifles. lifetime warranty on the gun and scope!!!
Now should a quality firearm be able to reliably fire any type of ammo that is in the caliber realm it is chambered in? From the flea market reloads to high-end gold rounds.
lucky43113 watch a video on limp wristing your glock. Most of the time people have an issue with glocks jamming, the person is the issue and not the gun
Taurus PT111 cost $265, and I have personally put one through the ringer. First 500 rounds in less that 15 minutes with NO malfunctions. It makes for a great first time carry gun.
I got the Walther Creed for $350, got over 1,000+ rounds through it. Had only 3 issues with it all ammo related not the pistol. My first budget pistol was the S&W SD9VE in 9mm
Geez! You really think the average middle class working man / woman can afford a GD acog or aimpoint?!?! BULL! Dude, I had to save for 2 months to afford my vortex! I agree cheap ass 100 dollar or less optics are junk (I've learned my lesson there several times) but dude, more than most ppl can't afford 500 bucks or more for a red dot. My advice is, if you can't afford a decent piece of glass, just use irons. Irons don't fail, they don't need batteries, and they are cheap!
C-Bomb Slow down now, practical before tactical. I have optics on many of my guns but nothing replaces muscle memory and making the most of the basics. Unless you are using a laser, how does an optic = faster target acquisition? Faster? Hand gun or rifle, I can acquire a target much faster with iron sights. I use optics for slower shooting at longer range.
Hey Eric, Don from AO here. S&W shield $75 rebate is off now. S&W has another one thru end of Sept for Shields and M&Ps, get two mags, two boxes of defense ammo.
My first rifle/first gun/first gun I bought with my own money was also a synthetic and stainless bolt action .22--mine was a Savage Mk II FSS; I love that little thing!
Why the knock on vortex? There price to performance is great. There warranty and customer service is great as well. And chad the sparc ar shuts off after left on for a long time so saying that they die after leaving them on overnight is not true. If anything why don't you guys just do a head to head torture test with some of these sights and see how they do. BTW I'm buy paying more for my optic then what I did for my gun...fuck that. I left Iraq a while ago don't need an expensive optic just to play warrior wannabe now that I'm back home.
My Spikes Tactical AR with my Vortex Strikefire 2 is my go to gun. It bumps around in my trunk all the time and every time it comes out it's always retained zero. Sometimes throwing money at something doesn't make a problem go away
There is a lot of truth in this video. My first gun was specifically chosen, and purchased based on my needs to protect my family. I did not have much money, but I took from peter to pay paul to make sure I had what I needed. You guys are right on here.
When you pull off the heist just right I'm not sayin berretta or sig is unreliable but where I'm at you can buy a glock 19 for about $450 and a berretata is about $650.
Well I guess I'm already covered when it comes to not buying a cheap optic. A few months back I ordered a GoPro bundle that was supposed to come with the camera, SD card, headstrap, and carry handle. I received the camera, headstrap, and SD card a few days later. Then the next day I received a package which was supposed to have the carry handle inside. There was no carry handle inside.... They sent me an EOTech XPS 2-0 instead.
During the ammo shortage in 2015 got a case of Independence .223/5.56 made in Israel. It all had pink sealant around the primers. Primer blowouts from at least every other round. Stamped FC 02 15.
Hank Turner more about do your research and get the best bang for your buck. don't waste 189 dollars when for 40$ more you could get a reliable firearm
I started saving tons of money by cutting out subscriptions I didn’t really need, cutting my own hair and the biggest was quitting cigarettes. Saves me hundreds a month that goes right into savings that then goes to the gun collection 😂
The idea that you need to spend a ton of money on a rifle for home defense is ridiculous. No one even needs a rifle for home defense. Something as simple as a basic shot gun is far better at home defense than a rifle ever will be. You don't need to defend your home at 400+ yards.
I bought my first gun, a Windham Weaponry AR-15, when I was 18 years old (I'm 22 now) for 750 used with 500-750 rounds through it. The guy threw in 500 rounds, 3 extra p-mags, and a cheap Sig illuminated sight. I put a Timney trigger and Magpul furniture on it as well as a Highlux CMR-4. For me, this is the perfect setup for how often I go to the range. I can consistently hit my target where I want to within 300 yards so far. I also got an HK USP-9 when I was 21 for 850 new. I am Very happy with my purchases and know they will serve me well for years to come. I think that if I can do that with 10.50$ an hour most should be able to get the quality they need. I think I'm doing pretty well for myself, just need to get a tactical variant of a Mossberg 930 to round off my collection.
Aaron Morgan Not really, they are trying to help people realize that there are better guns, for a little bit more. They used video games for an example, new games are usually around $60, so pass up 2 new games, and you'll have away better gun than a hi point, come on, would you rather carry a shield vs a hi point? The shield looks better, can be carried easier, etc...
S&W has another summer rebate. Any M&P (Full Size), M&Pc, or Shield bought between July and September 30th will receive the following via the rebate: 2 Magazines x $20-$25 each ($40-$50) 2 boxes Hornady Critical Defense ammo x $20-$25 each ($40-$50) 1 Caldwell Mag Charger x ~$40 That's $120-$140 in a rebate.. That's a good deal.. I saw the ad during the 2017 summer tour of Moss video last week. Looked into it and ended up buying a Shield for that kind of deal.
funkmachine1984 - my thoughts exactly. Just listening to them you'd think America was Afghanistan. I love guns too, but this mentality that you're gonna be confronted by an entire army while heading out to the store and are gonna need a small arsenal everywhere you go it pretty retarded.
They don't imagine themselves finding firefights to involve themselves in, they prepare for the possibility of one. Only idiots would be upset over people preparing for a possible future.
My 1st gun i bought a few months back from a local gun shop is a post 2013 ruger lcp paid 179 for it in good shape yes it was lightly used but shoots great no hiccups
It's really simple for me: Buy something you can afford to practice with, a lot. Guns' purpose is to shoot, not sit in the safe, and the more you soot it the better you get at it and the more fun you have. I apply the same rule of thumb to motorcycles or pretty much everything else I own.
Finally got my Shield Rebate. Took four months. Total for the .40S&W Shield after rebate was less than $250. Got it on great sale and rebate is what made me buy it.
I should say perfect for my needs, but of course there are better guns, like a full auto 100 round AR for when you really want to make sure you get the job done ;).
Great show, guys. I got my Ruger SR9 on sale when a certain "mountain" store was just getting the American pistols in. They needed to clear shelf space, so they marked existing stock down for quick sale. Great pistol at a great price at the right time.
Gun Philosophy. The Way of the Gun. I think it all boils down to whether you're willing to adopt the principles of self defense or not. Some people don't adopt the fundamentals needed to prepare for self preservation.
20 years ago I bought a Smith and Wesson 686 for $359.00. Awesome revolver and still own it. My best friend bought a chrome Loricin .380 for around $100.00 that was problematic. It didn't want to feed until he put a wood block in the bottom of the magazine which made it a round shorter.
Just made my first purchase. I saved up to get the higher quality model. My father told me that a gun is a lifetime investment so get a gun that will last a lifetime. Instead of getting a cheaper Remington 870 Express I got a Mossberg 590A1 mariner. Heavier barrel, stainless coating, metal trigger guard, and a metal safety. Thing is a beauty. It was almost 700$. It was 100% worth saving for.
You can buy a reliable Polish P64 for $250, if you want common 9mm, used CZ-75s are $300. reliable 12 gauge shotguns can be found for $200. You're able to defend your life for cheap with reliable steel guns.
My first Carry Gun was a FEG Pmk .380, it was $100 more expensive than the Davis .380, which was a lot of money for me in those days. Even as a novice to pistols though I could see the difference in Quality between them. The fact that the Pmk had higher capacity and could reliably cycle hollowpoints was the deciding factor. I've put probably over 10,000 rounds thorugh it of all brands and types with so few issues I can count them on one hand.
Great topic... I learned this lesson myself over the past ten years, and actually refined my collection to reflect just that, and am glad for that choice for quality over quantity or impulsiveness etc.....
I watched the ads. Walther PPS M2 LE. Reg $499. Cabela's gun of the week. $449. + Walther $100 factory rebate. $349 for a nice single stack 9 mm with 3 magazines. Sold!
I think a lot of people do not understand completely about firearms, optics and the like. Just can;t make the correct decision. I agree with you totally with this video. Great vid!
My first 9mm was a makarov. Love them. I paid $150 for my first one at the "largest gun show on the east coast" Harrisburg PA . I sold it and now I regret it! 🌲
I've used an inexpensive micro red dot on my Marlin 795 plinker for quite some time. It worked so well, I put one on my stainless Mini-14. After a year of hard use, that inexpensive red dot has been flawless. It still rings the 6" steel gong at 100 yards every shot. My 30 year-old $50 Simmons 4x32mm scope still allows me to hold sub-minute of angle accuracy on my old bolt gun. That said, I've found that budget sights carry much higher risk of malfunction. I've tossed two $60 red dots that wouldn't hold zero or malfunctioned. Don't put a cheap optic on your home security shotgun. If it fails, you may regret it. Better off with ghost rings or the factory bead at in-house ranges.
Love to see you guys do a Win 870 vs Mossberg 500. I love my Mossy and no one has been able to really show me why the 870 is so much better than the Mossy 500. That's one of my "Gun Gripes"!
At the gun shop I used to work at we had the Hi-Point 380 for $99. Hard to beat that if you don't know much about guns and go into a shop looking for something that goes bang.
Like you mentioned, you can get a "used" pistol by opening the budget up a bit. Plus, when a Canik TP9SF can be had for ~$100 more, it's even harder to justify a Hi-Point purchase.
Jay Bruce well now I'm just jealous. Happy hunting bud.
They have internet in The Yukon? Is your computer made of snow?
Same here in maine, we have all these people from down in mass who come up here and go to northern maine where they'll go to a "fly in only" cabin and then manage to miss a giant deer or a fish
Jay Bruce Savage make really reliable and accurate weapons. Nothing wrong with a Savage at all.
#RIPBarry)
Xavier S I still use an 88 man for home defense. Coupled with a Winchester .270 and a 1911 Colt my grandpa left me.
Xavier S couple that 88 Maverick with Federal low recoil slugs....sawwweeet shooter.
Xavier S I got the mossberg 500 with pistol grips since I'm in an apartment and it's a beautiful setup
Sounds like everyone really loves the Maverick 88 then :) for about $200, you can't best it!
+Papi Maximus Glad to know it's a gun my kids may be able to shoot one day when strong and mature enough! :)
I'm broke, and I saved 325 dollars and bought a used m&p 9mm range kit. Came with 3 mags and a speedloader. It even came with a mag pouch so I can carry all 3 mags with me. That's only 125 more than a hi point.
I spend way too much time on gun channels
Aeneas911 man you and all of America
Added a Link for Glocks: ruclips.net/video/O2mEeHVT7GU/видео.html
Link definitely wasn't for Glocks.
When you pull off the heist just right
Yeah, those plastic guns will never become popular with professionals....... LMFAO!
:))
Before I was married I was worth a great deal. No that I'm married my life is worth $3.
littleteethkeith lol, and that 3$ life is owned by someone else!
LOL!
Lmao, Iam married and Iam worth 150k, because that's my life insurance policy.
littleteethkeith -- sorry you feel that way, sir..... 18+ years with my wife, I feel richly blessed beyond measure
EIP your full of shit, I been married for 16 years myself and I love my wife beyond words and would do anything I could for her but sometimes I want to kill her......
Berry knew what he was talking about
I miss Barry so much!!! Hey everyone don't forget to {shake yer ammo}!!!!!!
That is entirely possible, and maybe a bit ironic.
Amen
Lol @ $150 .22 & a tree branch for concealment. But you're exactly right.
I buy all kinds of guns. I buy 1 really nice gun every year and then I just buy budget guns the rest of the year. I own $2000 guns and $ 150 guns and I love them all
JackAustin613 aaalll kiiiiindzz
Fast Lane I'm no where near the storms. I'm good
JackAustin613 I'm the same way! I dont discriminate guns are all sexy I buy em trade em sell em shoot em all! I love guns period!
Zach Zach you're the only one that got it!!! have a nice day brotha :)
Zach Zach *squinting "ahhhh godaamn man!!!! show em that fooorm"
For 25-50 more bucks than a Hi Point, there is no reason not to get the Taurus(or even something like a Sccy) instead.
shoot, i bought a pt709 slim with a cc holster, 2 mags, trigger lock, case and manual. 200 bucks. seems to work fine for me.
I have over 2,000 rounds through my 111G2. Not a single problem out of it. I have a video of me shooting a steel plate at 100 yards with it.
TheFreakedoutduck sounds pretty neat, are there any RUclipsrs who do something similar to this currently?
Holosun, Great Optic, Great Battery Life. Not as expensive as Aimpoint.
Scary Black Rifle especially with the ACSS reticle
Holosun is Great, almost like my Aimpoints(I say almost because Aimpiont has been proven to be amazing) but based on my experiences Holosun is also great
eyeofth3b3hold3r I am not a marine in war conditions. Grabbing my rifle in my living room, I feel just as confident with a Holosun as an Aimpoint. In the mountains of Afghanistan in a crowded Humvee with IEDs everywhere yea ok, go with Aimpoint
I still prefer open sights lol. I don't have to worry about a battery dying.
"so it's still what is your life worth?"
unironically using that statement even after the video
Jeremy Smith I buy cheap rifles and put quality optics on it. When it comes to shooting out to distance I can make a rifle work with the right glass.
Jeremy Smith the actual argument is that any system is only as strong as its weakest link.
Maybe Eric should check his old videos of the destruction of a Hi point , he actually recommended to buy a hi point if thats all you could afford
According to spongebob about 62 cent.
Lol! That's how much spongebobs life was worth to mr krabs! But he is much more cheap than the average person or invertebrate
Thank you all at iraqveteran 8888
Kind regards! Eric Dee.
What's My Life Worth? I'd Say.. about Tree Fiddy.
God damn monsta!
"Like a podcast or something" - I watch your videos as my "news channel" :3
Remember the types of people who you are talking about dont know anything about guns, and I think its safe to assume they think any new gun will work when they need it, they know nothing about break in times or have any connection to good or "bad" brands or anything, they just want something to protect themselves and want to be cheap about it...These are the same people who will buy that gun load it with a full magazine and put it in a drawer and let it sit there for years and years not even firing it once...Its a start to a good mindset but not quite getting there, lol people doing things half*ssed isnt new right? haha nice they have a gun but its probably more dangerous to them then helpful at that point, these are ALSO the people who you hear on the news because their dumb kid found it and shot his friend...
cutlerylover I agree with you on that
Are you saying there aren't gun snobs on the internet? People who have an inexpensive gun don't care what gun you have ,they just hate the condescending attitude about what you have, and your contempt for their's.
A good value gun + lots of ammo(training) is a win in the real world.
Fast Lane he doesn't assume more than you choke on😃
Fast Lane wow, sound really tough ...i hope you have a merry Christmas and a grrrrreat!!!!!! New year
Fast Lane your welcome.. have you started your Christmas shopping yet? I'm almost done mine. I like to get it over with early, can't stand the crazy busy malls. I really hoping to get the yellow mighty morphin power ranger this year. I've been extra good so I'm sure I'll get it
Y'all stay safe during this storm. If all my belongings get swept away, sanity will be harder to grasp without your videos.
all the hipoint tests ive seen have been impressive to say the LEAST.
AntwonDaBusiness but, they look odd.
no doubt haha.
What I truly like about iraqveteran8888 videos is, besides fun content, the fact that you mention good old Barry and what were his views on the subject matter. We all miss him. Cheers
PSA from time to time practically gives guns away. A Ruger American Pistol (Full Size) was $249.99
That's a good deal for not much more than a hi-point
Evan Hailey they had an ar10 last time a checked for $699 which is cheap for a 308 rifle
My current EDC is a Smith & Wesson M&P police trade in in .40 and I love it!
Primary Arms Red dots do have 50K hour battery life. Same as Aimpoint.
I also watched a guy on video beat a Vortex Sparc against a tree, busted it up and it still worked. Chad needs to stop talking.
OutdoorsAndy54 Chad is awesome and very intelligent. I doubt Eric or Chad want you on the channel.
LOVE IT!
you had to make fun of my pinto.....
Renaissance MarineTV hey pintos work fine man, just don’t get rear ended, unless you like dying in a fireball, haha.
@@Plastikdoom lol
I've own a Jaminez 9MM for 6 years now and have fired well over a 1,000 through it and it has never failed. I agree it a bit heavy to carry but it's accurate and reliable. And as a former Army Ranger I love it.
My life is worth the amount that the government gets when my ass croaks..
In NYC it's 911 and pray!
Spirit6663 or in Canada it's use a firearm to protect your life, YOU go to jail and the perp's family sues you.
don't get me wrong, im very pro second amendment, but imagine in times square if some untrained civilian starts popping shots off because someone came at em with a knife. while it is unfortunate that you are not able to legally defend yourself in teh most efficient manner, those misses are extremely likely to hit and possibly kill other bystanders. it's tough, but in a place that densely packed, it could very likely result in higher loss of life than just taking one for the team. in the rest of NYC tho, it should definitely be legal to conceal. i also dont hear about many violent crimes in times square, likely due to the density, so it would most likely be a non-issue even with civilians concealing a firearm.
If your life is less important to you than complete strangers, then by all means, take one for the team.
Move upstate! Still some draconian laws but not like NYC has.
laxm0nkey I think you're confusing the NYC PD with civilians that can actually hit something they shoot at.
And if all you need is a gun for the nightstand, you really don't need anything more expensive than that.
honestly though why would I spend $160 on a highpoint when a taurus pt111 is the same price
Hell I can grab a used lc9 for $150, or sd9ve for less than $200
If it's for home defense why not buy a maverick 88 or what ever other cheap shotgun, It's better suited for the task.
Yeah. You really don't need a $1000 optic. Aimpoint pros are like $400. Vortex is a great option too.
I have a cheep BSA red dot on my 500 Persuader 18" that I can hit skeet with. I've had it for several years with no issues. If It does ever fail I can still see the bead through the glass so win win in my book.
I am in my teens and I clean my house, and take a nap while listening to y’all. I love gun gripes.
Canik tp9 is probably the most bang for your buck.
Abel Straw I spent more on just my G17 slide than I did on my Canik TP9SFX. I shoot my Canik much more often.
On my 18th birthday i pinched pennies for a used Mossberg 835. Put aside some money for 3 years and on my 21st birthday i purchased a new Kimber Master Carry Pro.
hey guys for myfirst I bought me a 45 ACP Rock Island 4 in
My first carry gun was PA-63 9x18. The next gun I bought was a RIA GI 1911. This was 17-18 years ago, and those were the options I could afford.
Here's the problem with this argument, a gun (just like a tool) doesn't need to be expensive to be effective.
But, like all other tools, the cheapest option is probably the lowest quality.
Not to mention a glock 40 cal can be converted to shoot 9mm and 357sig with simple changes.. Deff cant go wrong with a used police glock ;)
167swap1
I agree, I picked up a .40 Glock 22 LEO trade in today to complement my Kel-Tec Sub-2000. Condition was fantastic, it could have passed for new if it had been cleaned a little better.
Thystaff Thywill I think what you meant to say was that YOU couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. Don't blame the gun because you can't shoot
i agree. i buy quality firearms, that doesn't mean expensive. i just got a Thompson center compass 308 with a vortex scope. after $75 rebate i am in the gun for $272 from Kentucky Gun Co. it is an amazing rifle. sub 1 in moa out of the box. well made gun. amazing trigger. threaded free float barrel. i like it as much some of my $1000 rifles. lifetime warranty on the gun and scope!!!
Now should a quality firearm be able to reliably fire any type of ammo that is in the caliber realm it is chambered in? From the flea market reloads to high-end gold rounds.
Tadicuslegion78 one of the reasons Glock became so popular, they will eat anything.
Cleetis McDougall my glock 26 is junk will not fire most of the time always jams its a gen3 i bought new sent it to glock came back still junk
lucky43113 where did you get it and have you taken it to a gunsmith?
lucky43113 watch a video on limp wristing your glock. Most of the time people have an issue with glocks jamming, the person is the issue and not the gun
Nick Riquinha doesn't matter how i lock my wrists glock says its recoil spring
Taurus PT111 cost $265, and I have personally put one through the ringer. First 500 rounds in less that 15 minutes with NO malfunctions. It makes for a great first time carry gun.
Hey guys it's Eric n Chad here with iraqveteran8888
color me moist
He should say Chad n Eric
wheres iraqveteran8888 I only see eric n chad
Dee troll iz real
Jason JAE ILLA Liller esp for self d. if you need optics, your probably not under any real threat but on the offense.
self d. if you have time to use optic or a need due to distance, it isn't really self d. you're sniping.
self d. if you have time to use optic or a need due to distance, it isn't really self d. you're sniping.
ONE VISION ONE PURPOSE true, but the context is rifles.
I have a Cetme, because I can't afford a FAL or Galil :/
ItAintJustPaint cetme is better then a fal anyway ;)
I carry a Taurus TCP that cost about the same as a Hi Point. It's small and works well. The TCP often rides as a bug or deep concealment.
Cavalry, not Calvary... ;)
Open Prairie You again.
If you're going to do something, it may as well be done correctly. ;)
Open Prairie Very true.
My Spikes Tactical AR with my Vortex Strikefire 2 is my go to gun. It bumps around in my trunk all the time and every time it comes out it's always retained zero. Sometimes throwing money at something doesn't make a problem go away
Im 18 turning 19 in a few days i have
10/22
M91/30
Cheap dont know name single 410
Ar-15
And a gift to my self
Kel tec sub 2000 gen 2 glk19
I value my life lol
There is a lot of truth in this video. My first gun was specifically chosen, and purchased based on my needs to protect my family. I did not have much money, but I took from peter to pay paul to make sure I had what I needed. You guys are right on here.
doesn't the hi point pistol show that cheap can work .
When you pull off the heist just right dude most berrettas and sigs besides the sig 2022 are like 100$ more than most glocks.
When you pull off the heist just right I'm not sayin berretta or sig is unreliable but where I'm at you can buy a glock 19 for about $450 and a berretata is about $650.
When you pull off the heist just right different people like different guns so let's stop arguing and support the 2nd amendment
The point of this video is a whole up sale.
During the ammo shortage in 2015 got a case of Independence .223/5.56 made in Israel. It all had pink sealant around the primers. Primer blowouts from at least every other round. Stamped FC 02 15.
I think the point might be to buy the best you can afford. Yes? No?
Hank Turner more about do your research and get the best bang for your buck. don't waste 189 dollars when for 40$ more you could get a reliable firearm
Hank Turner Yes
I started saving tons of money by cutting out subscriptions I didn’t really need, cutting my own hair and the biggest was quitting cigarettes. Saves me hundreds a month that goes right into savings that then goes to the gun collection 😂
The idea that you need to spend a ton of money on a rifle for home defense is ridiculous. No one even needs a rifle for home defense. Something as simple as a basic shot gun is far better at home defense than a rifle ever will be. You don't need to defend your home at 400+ yards.
Anything over the 75 yard range is not home defense unless you're outside defending the house from attackers.
If you're shooting someone beyond 75 yards, it's stopped being home defense and starts being retaliation.
More 600yd shooting less talking. This video sounds like you two are just talking down to a lot of people.
Aaron Morgan Not really, they are trying to help people realize that there are better guns, for a little bit more. They used video games for an example, new games are usually around $60, so pass up 2 new games, and you'll have away better gun than a hi point, come on, would you rather carry a shield vs a hi point? The shield looks better, can be carried easier, etc...
hart some people might need groceries more than an M&p and a Hi-Point is better than a rock.
Aaron Morgan I said video games, groceries. I'd take food over agun any day.
S&W has another summer rebate. Any M&P (Full Size), M&Pc, or Shield bought between July and September 30th will receive the following via the rebate:
2 Magazines x $20-$25 each ($40-$50)
2 boxes Hornady Critical Defense ammo x $20-$25 each
($40-$50)
1 Caldwell Mag Charger x ~$40
That's $120-$140 in a rebate.. That's a good deal..
I saw the ad during the 2017 summer tour of Moss video last week. Looked into it and ended up buying a Shield for that kind of deal.
The amount of firefights these guys imagine finding themselves in is really quite alarming.
funkmachine1984 - my thoughts exactly.
I love my S&W SD9VE and I got it new for $299 almost a year ago, perfect home gun for a good price.
"perfect home gun" I disagree.
good gun though.
I should say perfect for my needs, but of course there are better guns, like a full auto 100 round AR for when you really want to make sure you get the job done ;).
Spot on point. If you haven't looked at it, touched it, thought about it over the past 5 years... Liquidate. Except for that 6 inch Colt Python.
Just bought a brand-new in the box Sig p250c for $229. They had 300 of them come in and were all sold over night.
I bought my cz 75 (built 1986) for ~300 bucks. There is no other pistol on the planet i would trust as much as precisely this one.
MA CAN'S !! Yes I've purchased a few. Very happy. You are correct. A few extra $ really makes a difference.
best buy I ever made was a rock Island 38spl for 80 bucks........carried it everywhere and it has not let me down yet.
I got a Springfield 911 in 380 outright to start and then used layaway to move up and build my collection from there. Use a m&p 9 for my ccw now.
"you guys remember pogs" best quote ever from this channel lol
"Saturday night special showdown" sounds like an awesome video!
I would watch that
28:32 on the contrary I'm finishing up my work day right now as I'm listening to this "podcast" (;
Like you mentioned, you can get a "used" pistol by opening the budget up a bit. Plus, when a Canik TP9SF can be had for ~$100 more, it's even harder to justify a Hi-Point purchase.
