  • Over 5,000 miles from Wales to Nordkapp and back on an Aprilia Tuareg 660. With a group of 6 riders, we've ridden across 6 countries and had an epic adventure. Here's the good, the bad and the excellent lowdown of the bike.

Thanks for posting, it looks like an exciting trip you have just made. I recently took delivery of a Tuareg 600 of my own. Even with my limited experience, it is proving to be a "Go anywhere bike!" I have made one alteration to mine. I have fitted a rear rack (GIVI) and that has made it super easy to move about by hand when not riding it. The rack gives you something to hold on to when moving the bike about. I'm looking forward to some adventures on the bike next year.

    • @Biker_Maja

Fantastic! That's a good tip. I found it a bit tricky maneuvering when not riding, it's quite tall. I agree on the 'ride anywhere bike' sentiment, I had plenty of confidence trying new lanes.

Welsh Tuareg 660 owner - I am so besotted with mine. It was stolen last week (in Bristol) but recovered 2 days later - 2 days of misery that made me miss my first service. This is my third Aprilia (Caponord ETV 1000, Caponord 1200 TP) and they have all been brilliant. The shortage of dealers hasn't been a problem other than waiting for a service. I have noticed the same issue with the main beam switch but other than that no niggles at all. The Nordkapp trip has been on my bucket list since before Covid so would love to hear more

Selling my Husky 701 ( excellent bike off-road, sporty on-road, not for long trip), to buy a Tuareg that I tested recently. It looks like you don't missed the shifter, nor the comfort seat, nor the luggage rack ? how about the OEM Pirelli Scotpion Rally Street ?

Im a big guy and would naturally go for a big bike if I were to do any adventure riding. But after watching this and others I think a 500 is plenty. Hello, how many liters does your tank fit? My Tuareg 660 model 2022 doesn't fit more than 15.6 liters. I ran the tank completely empty and then filled it up.

Firstly... I've attempted the Nordkapp 3 times, haven't got there yet, always something (Hurricane Katrina was one, yup,it destroyed west coast Norway too), literally snows in August, go early(late June), don't take a big bike, 50mph limit all the way, with jail or huge speeding fines(Taureg perfect size), a Honda ADV scooter would be great for it! Handguards... check out the Hepco Becker metal/plastic ones, super strong...and finally, RIP Pia(those who know, know)!

Actually building a bike now for another go at it, started as a 6000mile, Honda FMX650 ,shortening the forks, getting a 19" front wheel and an Acerbis tank(25litres) off a XR600R fitted...who knows, next summer?(awaiting a chest op).
Aprilia must love you, given the problems they've had bringing the bike to market far too soon...PR disaster, but outwith oil consumption, you've probably helped them much?

Every one raves about this bike, as the best. T7 advocates always go on about reliability. Although Yamaha are very reliable, I do not think there is much difference in it. Going on long trips, experiencing the bike long term, will continue to validate the Tuareg, as the better choice for those that appreciate lower seat, lower centre of gravity, better suspension, great electronics, performance and fun. The list goes on. Thanks for the real life test.
