His greatest sounding kit. I say this as someone who owns a large DW Collectors kit with the Peart 23” bass drum. The Tamas sounded so much warmer and more natural. The DWs just look cool.
Agreed completely!!! The "sound" from his Rosewood Superstars during the albums he recorded them with,is simply unprecedented!!! Nothing else sounds like them!
Both Tama and Yamaha offered satin wooden finishes for a short time in the late 70's. Finished inside and out with reinforcing rings. Super rare and really classy looking.
Yep, and his concert toms had rienforing rings. Mine don’t. I read in an interview once that he wasn’t sure what vibrafibing did nor if it made any impact on the sound.
WOW,that is a FANTASTIC looking kit there!!! I subscribed to your channel after you took us on a tour of it! Look forward to all the things You plan on adding to it as well!!! Well done!!! : >)
Really beautiful kit ! I have my own sort of Neil Peart style set up, not the exact sizes, I was looking for a six inch concert tom for years, they're really hard to find, I finally ordered a six inch shell and rim, and assembled my own. I switch between a 6, 8, & 10 inch concert tom set up on the left side, or just use 8 & 10 inch regular double headed toms, then a 12 & 13 right in front, and 16 & 18 inch floortoms. and lots of cymbals. I couldn't do that exact set up like yours, the 15 over the bass drum would be way too high for me, I use 22 inch bass drums, and the toms sit as low as possible because I'm short ! BTW that poster of the drums on the raft, that was the lake right behind Le Studio in Quebec, I visited the sight this past summer, nothing there now, well the lake is still there, so I went for a swim !

Question? On the 12" tom-tom is that tom-tom support holder just like N. Peart's because it looks like a Slingerland type holder? I am thinking that N. Peart would have kept all of the hardware as Tama or am I wrong?
Neil used a Rogers Swivomatic holder up to and including the Perm Waves/Moving Pictures and related tours TAMA Superstar kit. After that I believe the mounts for his double bass kits were custom made. I recently found out that his Swivo was a #1. I’m using a #2 because of the better angle. The kit on the banner of course is his TAMA candy apple red kit he began using on Signals and tour with the custom made mount.
Thanks! It’s an old Slingerland stand. I simply rested the ride on the height adjustment part. Neil used a Tama Titan stand and had to have the hole widened in the ride in order to make it fit.

id b horrified to take the rick plating the chrome to brass fearing it might peel or flake and the chrome always looks great anyway and not any worse than brass.

I believe Neil had the Toms Vibafibed from a drum shop Indiana. It was a coating of fiberglass inside each drum.

I have my own big kit and honestly it is intimidating at first, but you get used to it. Mad respect for people who rock small kits though
