Good luck Jason. I can't help on site, but these types of things are what I have struggled with before and have found these solutions. Your homestead will be cool, just wait and see, as you tackle what you need to tackle.
Man just don't throw pieces of wood away. Put them to the side somewhere neatly u will be able to use some wood along the way. U living in the country.
That's risky advice, because it encourages hoarding, which exacerbates this exact issue. Saving *some* wood is good, but many pieces just need to be burned.
@@tammywragg6254 IIRC he explained in general terms why a fire couldn't work, but there are many kinds of fires. I'm recommending one that's fairly controlled yet can still accommodate medium-size pieces of lumber. Larger than a campfire, safer than a bonfire. Remember, he makes campfires anyway, so it's not like all open flames are a no-go.
@@dper1112 He also explained that too, he needs to be done with it,I'm sure the wood it self will find another purpose possibly from someone that takes the dumpster away but he is done with it, trust me I e seen him in past videos where they have reused things but sometimes done is done, for what ever reason
@@dper1112 He also explained there were lots if nails so it wouldnt be an easy task to cut them into smaller pieces,,with or without a chainsaw, and again he lives in the middle if the woods, aka lots of trees, leaves so it isnt that simple not to mention he does have neighbors that probably dont want to have or smell smoke for days and then there is this thing about time consuming
Storage shed doesn't have to be perfect or pretty. Use what you have. You can make a small tool cabinet. Never through lumber away. The cost of it is outrageous now. That stew looked delicious. Do a video about raising goats, different breeds etc. Grew up on a dairy farm. We never had goats. Things you would have done different building your tiny house and the positive and negatives. Stay healthy. Keep the awesome videos coming.
Or get a 8X8X40 Container, for your storage. Total contained, for your tools and lumber, no goats, no dogs no wet! Quit whining and get it done. You need to be in your tiny house, living, getting on with your life.
Then build a shed to put you spare wood/supplies under to keep them mostly dry. Don't throw away good wood, re-stack it out of the way. Get'er done! We're all watching!
Man, don’t trash all that good wood. Make use of it....build a shed for storage. With the price of wood now, that’s like burning money. Don’t disappoint this granny. God bless always.
Agree don't disappoint this granny either. I learned I had to ask for help when I got sick. It was fun to work together and BS. I couldn't work for a long time. I got better and enjoy helping others.
I was in the same boat about 2 years ago, I figured out then that's it's not how much stuff ya got, it's how you organize it. Stacking stuff in organized piles outside makes a world of difference and makes a trash pile look like an organized supply pile. Keep up the good videos
Such a waist of wood if you get a dumpster. Use it to make a hut for your hay so the goats have a place to go when it gets bad. Doesn’t matter if it’s treated, just a covering
If you get one of the larger shipping containers you should have enough space to organize that lumber and still have space for video editing and other stuff.... and then you'll have those scraps to build storage space like Ellen Brooks said.
You're overwhelmed by the number of tasks you want to get done, but by the end of the video, you got it together and just focused on one project at a time. Keep your head down and focus and don't look up. You got this.
Jason, all that wood and scrap metal is a precious commodity these days. Just sort it into neat and tidy piles then cover it up with a tarp. You can still use it to build stuff outside like a storage compartment for some small items. Perhaps a tool box. Just a thought. Take care and be well. God bless.
yep he could use some of the tree trunk logs in the pile to stack on to get stuff off the ground. But guessing in a while he will be crying for money to buy "new" lumber just to waste that also.
Move the hay quickly. If the ends of the bales get wet it will travel inside and spoil half the bale or more! Hang in there. Off grid is great! Ive been doing it about 15 years now. Have a super day. Thanks for the videos. I enjoy them.
Holy crap, those little goats are so dang cute. My grandfather had a shed made from the box of an old mail truck that's still there decades later. Maybe something like that can be a temporary solution, moveable, and removable when you're done with it. Tiny off-grid cabin, or big house in the suburbs - when stuff stacks up it can be overwhelming. Start small with something like putting the feed in some galvanized trash cans outside to keep them try and bug-free. That success will help push you on to the next thing. I agree with folks talking about using that scrap to build something to protect the stuff from in the house while you work on it. Some more of those plastic tubs might be helpful well, and they're reasonably cheap. I actually think seeing that space cleaned out would be satisfying to watch.
Your scrap pile is valuable the price of lumber these days. Just pick a wall and insulate and tongue and groove. The pile will slowly go down. Plus you could actually use it to build a storage shed/lean too for wood. And you could put the longer boards under the porch to keep it dry. You have enough scrap to build another micro tiny house or even another room on the tiny house. That’s cash your pointing at saying you wanna pay to haul off. My dad was a carpenter he always had a pile of scrap lumber for projects.
Jason stop feeling sorry for yourself and get organized. You can only handle one pile at a time. All that scrap wood can be utilized to build a shelter for your stuff. I know you want it all done at one time but that isn’t possible. You’re spreading yourself too thin partner. Being alone sucks especially during Covid. You have the skill set to get it done so don’t give up. You got this.
Yes I had time's that was like where do I start.. Just start small... I know your feeling overwhelmed.. Looks like you really need to put up one of your old tents and start making that your storage unit.. Untill you can get the things you need... Good Luck...
Don’t get down on yourself, life is difficult , keep on keepin on, we’ll still be here watching and learning. We haven’t gone off grid YET but will soon, your our inspiration !!
Good plan. Dumpster first. Clear out the trash. That will help you feeling overwhelmed. Go from there. Praying for you, you can get it done. Thanks for being real.
We used these large rubberized like pans for our goats. And one large plastic oneto drop some grain and alittle hay on top. We cut a plaslic large barrel on its side to beanle to place hay or a feed pan inside for raining day.
Jason that pile of wood that you keep saying is trash well I see alot of good wood There, Im a wood worker You can use all that wood scraps don't throw wood away ,especially with the price of wood these days, please dont throw scraps away.
That is so overwhelming for you. Set goals that are not to high. I moved to a one bed apartment and I know overwhelming. I bought furniture and have to have apartment in order b 4 it gets deliver. U should be proud of yourself. That’s a huge project. Hope your day goes smooth.
@@sweetcountrylivinfloyd3659 It is difficult for men (and so e women) to setaside the feeling that they can do anything, are invinceable, no matter how many times that is disproven due to health, or stubbornness. Sorry you are dealing with this.
I understand that you are overwhelmed by the mess. It looks like there is a lot of good wood, make separate piles of usable stuff and with your skills create an build. You can make a shed lean to to put your tools under. It's doable just do one small thing every day. You can use so much more utilizing all the trees. Listen I'm not trying to tell you what or how to do things. I get overwhelmed very easy myself. You got this. Hang in there. Looking forward to next video. Stay warm, safe and take care of all the critters.
Hey we have to have some of them are feed outside. So we use metal trash cans with lids, and use bungee cords from each handle to keep the tops shut. to keep things out and it works great you might try it
Get yourself a few steel drums with lids to store your feeds in. We use them for our chicken and hog feeds. The steels drums have seals in them and are often water proof and can be stored outside. Up here Rural King sells them or you can also find them on marketplace and craigslist.
I'm really happy to hear you talk about fire safety, kudos to you! No need to be embarrassed you are not alone, you're human. What you have accomplished is impressive and your care of your animals is outstanding.
I'm so relieved to hear and see you are human! Honestly i just started watching your videos few days ago and i was like "man, does this guy ever stop?" You accomplish more then most do their entire lives. Your lifestyle is absolute goals for me and my toddler!
Quit whinning, clean out that shack, finish insulating , then finish the interior . 1 day tops. you don't need help. Put some tunes on and get with it and don't stop.If you can't do that you will not make it there and that's the bottom line.
@jackfish magurkin: Excuse me, but are you having an exacerbation of your retrolintal analophthalmoplasia? Do you have a plexiglass umbilical area so you can see? Inquiring minds, etc.
Make a list and stick to it. Baby steps. One thing at a time on those huge projects. Dumpster, cleanup and level, shipping container, transfer materials then get back to the build. Sounds like a good plan. Wishing you the best. Blessed be..
You can do this hun, your just feeling overwhelmed. Use some of that scrap lumber and throw up a little lean to. Use the play wood as sheeting on the roof, lap it like shingles. The stuffs warped but you can still cokes it into something to serve stuff under. If you can't set post, anchor it to a couple trees. You can do it!
@@itsallaboutjesus8935 sorry I was doing my best without my glasses or enough sleep, lol, stayed up looking for my glasses, I found them. It's amazing how you manage your reality ... large off grid property, farm animals, daily chores. Just watching all the "stuff" you're working.... without your wife .... is like you said, overwhelming. But kudos to you!
1: put the tongue and groove on they walls-no more storage problems! 2. Do like you did in the podcast room. Take care of your tools by hanging them on the podcast room or put shelves in and store them. Build a wooden box from scrap wood and put it on your porch for the tools OR use it for critter food with a latch so they Can't get into it. Your problem is your heads to full of things-tiny house build this, have that, buy this, clothing line, your taking on too many things. Go back to the beginning-get your butt on the tiny house! Devote specific amount of time on it to see some progress, so the next day back at it for an hour or so. Then onto whatever is NEEDED next. List from first important on down. JUST DO IT!!!
Consider a Costco storage tent. About $260 or there about. Gives you a sorting spot to build a simple storage shelf/rack fit the wood and metal. Make a pile on top of some pallets cover with tarps for the scrap untill you can process it. Cheeper than a dumpster. No your not depressed you are doing the best you can trying to get everything working. This teaches me storage for your home stead is important to keep things straight and orginizing.
I would take every rock I found and put it around the house instead of skirting...idk if that is a good idea, but it would look nice. We aren't building the Taj Mahal right?
@@karenmikasko7148 SNAKES they love rocks, some things are easier said then done, and rocks or storage under the house up there right now probably wouldnt be the wisest

Get a burn barrel for small scraps with nails. You can make a wire screen lid to put over it. We cut 8” vertical cuts in ours near bottom for air flow. Probably cheaper to rent a uhaul trailer and haul to a dump. Dumpsters are expensive.
Those portable enclosures might not be long term shelters but you can put them up in a jiffy and no sawing wood.. Will get you through the winter and put your mind at ease to have the tiny house emptied out.
Another amazing video. Everything takes time. You will get the tiny house finished. Its never a bad thing to ask for help. None of us can do everything alone. That's what makes us human😉
@Des The Hobo Traveling Nurse: Amen, Des! Preach it, Sister Friend! And the next time you are visiting Jason and if he gets down on himself again, please kick him in the butt until it rings like a Chinese gong for me.
Shipping container is a great idea. Could you use some of the bigger pieces for a small place to put tools in? Maybe you could try to cut smaller pieces to burn in your stove. Would get rid of the pile while keeping you warm.
The shipping container is a good ideal they are not to expensive. It takes a lot to ask for help, i have a hard time doing it to. Teamwork is always the best way to go. Keep up the good work!
We are having the same issue jason. We have piles of trash from where we tore down a old mobile home. We want to have it all cleaned up by February because that's when we order our 16x50 shed to convert to a house. It just takes time. I tell myself one day at a time.
That appears to be a lot of good use able wood for building shelving, legs for tables and do on. I can only see what's on camera though. Yea, you need a 12x16 storage shed. Its live and learn bud. I had to overcome my pride issues. Once you get most of the stuff done you need done. It'll be a lot easier to live that life. God bless and keep you safe
I live in the Appalachians. Living off grid can be hard. To some extent we will always be tied to something on the grid. However when prepping or homesteading or off grid unless you have the funds. Re use anything you can. Save everything you can. You will find a purpose for it! keep driving on! Im the same way just finished a 112 count crosstie retaining wall did it all myself. Keep pushing its freedom.
Good idea about the shipping container. I am disabled and looking at things in my home that need doing and don’t feel like doing really brings me down at times
Don't beat yourself up. Your stuff is dry and secure for now. Make a plan for a shed. It's a side project. My hubby and I renovated together a lot. He did most of the building while I did the putting away. When we were done he never had to worry about pile up. When we started up again, I knew where everything was... things did get piled up sometimes when he needed my help, but - hey it'll wait for you! ❤
Really Jason, move that wood to the porch and get to work! You could have the tiny house ready to live in with just a couple days hard work! Then you could move all the other building supplies to the micro-tiny house.
I tried that asked for help, sure we'll help then when it comes to doing it they are gone. I end up doing it myself. Good that you have true friends. Your doing a great job Jason.
Do NOT throw away your wood! It is an incredible resource that you will use over time! No need to waste money on a dumpster... Get a storage container, store it. You will be soooo grateful you have it available when you need it!!! Wise resource management and asset management! Keep up the great work, and remember it is one step at a time! Rate the things that are most important to you, and go after them in order until completed. You will feel so good! Woohoo!!! 😸
I understand all of the comments about building a shed from the scraps, but I also understand being overwhelmed. Just start with one corner and take it from there. You have a nice community of people pulling for you and who will help.
I know the feeling. My craft/office room looks like that also depression is overwhelming and where do i start. Things will change. And it will be better.🤗
You might want to check out Cog Hill Farm feed containers. They keep all their chicken & goat feed outside in large plastic barrels outside and the lid protects the grain from the elements. I realize you have many more organization jobs in your future but this just might help with your chicken, dog, rabbit and goat feeds.
Take your feed out of house place it in trash barrels with lids then place them in the fenced area that is attached to lean to shed. Then it will be kept dry and away from the animals until you need it. Also a grain scoop would work better for feeding the animals. Can you use some of the scrap wood for building a feeder for the goats. And what is left if not treated can't you use as kindling for stove and fire pit.
I hope you don’t burn or throw away even a tiny piece of that good wood! You will need it for something coming up so I hope you will just keep a tarp over it and take good care of it. ~ mama Telle
It'll be okay with the cleanup. Just sit down with pad and pen and write out a step by step plan like the dumpster then the shipping container, etc... Just formulate a written plan, and it won't feel so overwhelming. Those knife holsters look awesome.
i bought a shipping container for my cabin---10 x 20 for $1400 the driver drove a roll back to my cabin in the woods to a slot a cut out a thick pines 12ft x around 25ft,his roll back got in perfect,,,,,,rat proof and dry storage .....only thing i hate is opening and closing the doors PIA....we just leveled it that helped.
I loved watching you feed your animals, Jason! Also, glad to see you starting to work on things for yourself again. Stay safe, health & as warm & dry as possible.;)
Thanks for your honesty........I really respect that. It looks all too overwhelming to me just watching all that you do. Thanks for sharing everything! I appreciate it and I enjoy watching your channel.
Either build a storage shed or buy one .I know how overwhelmed it makes you feel I have a storage shed and I try to organize it take one look and I'm overwhelmed . Right you get some help. Once you get all that organized you will be good to go. You got this..😎
Jason, could you build a storage shed out of the platform the goats eat on? It looks like you have almost enough scrap to throw one together. Then you could get enough of the extra things out of the house until you need them.
Jason don't fret about it, you can work on it in the Spring. People should know it takes time to get things done. Anything worth doing is worth doing right! Besides, building material prices are insane right now, you worry too much! I wish I had that wood, please do not get rid of it, let them live their lives and you live yours! Blessings

nice hay pile, lol, I have 300 bales put in my barn since last years hay shortage! I have 3 horses, Not worrying this winter. And your building materials and stuff, my husband doesn't toss or burn, he calls it Resources!
use a hand held grinder and grind the nails off the wood, then reuse some of that lumber to make a feeding platform, bunk for the goats. With some of the other wood if there is enough use it to make a small shed to store some of the stuff in. Otherwise I was going to suggest renting a pods container for a couple of months to clean out the tiny house and get it finished then use the little shed you are in for storage.
Sounds like you need to drill a well for water, you need running water. It also sounds like you’ve hit a spot of buyers remorse in off grid living by yourself.
After reading all the comments I agree--getting a good size shed should be a priority. Use it to store all the stuff that's currently inside the tiny and also clean up the yard. Organize your tools in it. You currently have no clean space...I mean, there is clutter wherever your eyes fall and that's why your mind is muddled. Once everything is stored and protected and organized I'd like to see you expand the rabbit cages first then get back to working on the tiny. I think things will fall into place by priority once your spaces are cleaned up. Good luck Jason.
This is why contractors use trailers to store their equipment. Someday you will have a small barn for the tools. As far as the scrap, create a slightly organized pile to pull from as needed and throw a tarp over it. Your friends, can help get this done.
We have 2 shipping containers and love them for the storage that they offer. My husband customized "his" and has some amazing storage shelves, peg board, and it is so organized. Let others help you and realize that it is a blessing to them to help you.
Damn with all of that "scrap", you could easily build a shelter for all your "scrap". Honestly if you consider that pile of wood to be scrap, I don't know what to tell you. Your not seeing the value of what you have. Nothing is scrap in a true off-grid living situation

I'm recommending one that's fairly controlled yet can still accommodate medium-size pieces of lumber. Larger than a campfire, safer than a bonfire. Remember, he makes campfires anyway, so it's not like all open flames are a no-go.
@@dper1112
He also explained that too, he needs to be done with it,I'm sure the wood it self will find another purpose possibly from someone that takes the dumpster away but he is done with it, trust me I e seen him in past videos where they have reused things but sometimes done is done, for what ever reason
@@dper1112
He also explained there were lots if nails so it wouldnt be an easy task to cut them into smaller pieces,,with or without a chainsaw, and again he lives in the middle if the woods, aka lots of trees, leaves so it isnt that simple not to mention he does have neighbors that probably dont want to have or smell smoke for days and then there is this thing about time consuming
You have scap everywhere, build a storage shed.
that was my exact thought.
I totally agree with you all...
Reuse reuse reuse till you can't reuse anymore!!
Use some of the old lumber to build a storage space for the other stuff
Such a waist of wood if you get a dumpster. Use it to make a hut for your hay so the goats have a place to go when it gets bad. Doesn’t matter if it’s treated, just a covering
If you get one of the larger shipping containers you should have enough space to organize that lumber and still have space for video editing and other stuff.... and then you'll have those scraps to build storage space like Ellen Brooks said.
Build a storage shed for stuff in the tiny house. Clearing it will help get u back to work.
Yes --as Ellen said ---SAVE EVERYTHING ! YOU WILL USE IT ..
Repurpose trash .
Eww could never live like that. No running water,no electricity. Snakes everywhere.
Stop thinking just start....and finish one thing...you will feel better.
@@dakotawinds9291 yeah it sounded like whaaa whaaa i need help because i dont want to
Move the hay quickly. If the ends of the bales get wet it will travel inside and spoil half the bale or more! Hang in there. Off grid is great! Ive been doing it about 15 years now. Have a super day. Thanks for the videos. I enjoy them.
Work 30 minutes a day on it. Organize, trash, keep. Thats how I work on being overwhelmed. Shelving in the podcast room would help.
I love how often he uses the words “thankful” and “grateful.” That’s the key to EVERYTHING. ❤️
Not without someone for him to be above. To full of himself
Jason, I have confidence you'll get it all worked out.
Thanks for sharing.
Jason i see a storage shed in all that wood you call scrap , with the price of lumber use what you have ,
Right! Lumber prices are skyrocketing. Use what you have. Use a grinder (buy or borrow) to cut off nails if they are in the way.
You can't build a shed with small scraps
Correct you can't... but that wood csn be used for other purposes 💜

I understand that you are overwhelmed by the mess. It looks like there is a lot of good wood, make separate piles of usable stuff and with your skills create an build. You can make a shed lean to to put your tools under. It's doable just do one small thing every day. You can use so much more utilizing all the trees.

Put skirting around the house for underneath storage. Put a lock do to the crawlspace.

Dont be overwhelmed. Just pick ONE(1) thing to do and simply make sure you complete it before “multi-tasking” something else.
I understand all of the comments about building a shed from the scraps, but I also understand being overwhelmed. Just start with one corner and take it from there. You have a nice community of people pulling for you and who will help.

You might want to check out Cog Hill Farm feed containers. They keep all their chicken & goat feed outside in large plastic barrels outside and the lid protects the grain from the elements. I realize you have many more organization jobs in your future but this just might help with your chicken, dog, rabbit and goat feeds.
A shipping container is a great idea. You could even use it as a barn after your done using it for your building supplies. ☮️-K

Build a shed...Stack the wood
Jason, could you build a storage shed out of the platform the goats eat on? It looks like you have almost enough scrap to throw one together. Then you could get enough of the extra things out of the house until you need them.
When things start feeling overwhelming, just pick a spot and begin.

You might want to put the chinking and any paint that you have underneath the beds in the micros so it doesn't freeze
use a hand held grinder and grind the nails off the wood, then reuse some of that lumber to make a feeding platform, bunk for the goats.
Anyone can lose steam or momentum with a big project. It's even harder when you are essentially living in it, off grid or not.
Would it be feasible to get a metal building to store all the stuff that’s in the tiny house just trying to help 💕💕
This is why contractors use trailers to store their equipment. Someday you will have a small barn for the tools. As far as the scrap, create a slightly organized pile to pull from as needed and throw a tarp over it. Your friends, can help get this done.
Wood is still good stack it cover it.
It seems as if this is NOT just about the "tiny living off-grid lifestyle" anymore. That's all the wealth from subs & donations from YT showing up.
