      I mean, it would... if everything in the universe came into close enough proximity... but then all that matter/energy would be expelled anyways over time. Why the fuck am I even questioning that logic...

      Andrew Sugrue it wouldn't even suck up the solar system, if a small black hole consumed earth then the moon would just be in a slightly more elliptical orbit and the rest of the solar system wouldn't care. At most, there would be more asteroid bombardments as near earth asteroids get pushed into a steeper orbit.

    While we're considering black holes spontaneously emerging over the ocean, let us not overlook the possibility that Cthulhu may have risen from the water and snagged the plane out of the sky, devouring it and harvesting the energy of the people onboard to fuel his dark essence.

      It wouldn't suck up all the earth if it were small. It'd likely devour most of earth, replace our core, then send the moon on an elliptical flight path OR it would simply explode due to Hawking radiation.

    • @MrBungwung
      @MrBungwung 8 лет назад +14

      No, it wouldn't. Small black holes have huge hawking radiation. That's why nobody cares if CERN would produce a black hole as it would just decay directly. You need way more mass than the solar system has to offer to build a stable black hole.

    This segment is emblematic of all the things that made the Daily Show one of the greatest pieces of entertainment ever to be produced.
    I usually try to be tolerant and feel that as of yet it's too much to ask of Trevor to live up to this standard. Still, one can't deny that Jon Stewart has left a tremendous hole that remains unfilled. As much as I enjoy John Oliver, nobody can fill this role - Trevor will probably have to create something new that maybe can let us forget the beauty of 'the old' Daily Show...

      DJ_Kerssens this is a lame excuse. There is a lot to denounce within the left: biased reporting, putting corporates interest before the people, choosing another racist rapist warmonger as the party nominee (to replace the other racist rapist warmonger).
      Jon Stewart clearly left because he refused to support Clinton, and he didn’t support Trump either. He would have ripped them both off but that’s no longer a thing, look at all the partisan satire TV Shows it’s like liberal Fox News. From all of his children, Hasan Minhaj is the only one who still carries out that sense of integrity.

      @@Ema-nt3gp I stand by my statement. Of course it glosses over a lot of issues and facts, but I still think it's valid.
      There is also the difference in approaches to the news. Stewart positioned himself as someone who had experienced a lot of bullshit while living in the US while Trevor approaches as an outsider who uses his life experience in order to make sense of what's going on

It does not "suck in our galaxy", in fact, it is responsible for the evolution of it. I think what you mean is it would suck in our SOLAR SYSTEM.

      @riz8114 8 лет назад +33

      +Harsh Manohar Well, it's not exactly that simple. Thinking of a black hole as an infinite vacuum that sucks anything and everything in its path is a common misconception. The only matter in danger would be the matter that enters the event horizon (point of no return). Everything else outside the event horizon is perfectly safe! So considering the supermassive black hole in the center of our galaxy is about 26,000 light years away, we would fall no where close to its gravitational field, never mind its even smaller event horizon.

      +Darius Gheghesan Entirely depends on the size of the black hole. After all, a black hole is mass condensed into a tiny space. It doesn't have to be mass the size of celestial object. That said, the only natural way we know of for a black hole to form naturally is Star death so getting a small atmospheric black hole would beg the question... where the hell did it come from?

    Small black holes actually can exist. They are just physically very volatile to keep itself together for significant amount of time. Technically mankind has the capability to create a tiny black hole through particle colliders...

    I at the point now where if I actually want to find out "In depth" about a specific topic, I actually go out into the world and gather things for myself. I happen to like Jon Stewart and his show a lot. I give him more trust in a story because he's not picking a side when it comes to this topic. The short time I view CNN and FOXnews is for the same reason I watch Stewart for a very long time...Entertainment purposes only.
