Also, these coins and NFT's are very bad for the environment, as they take A LOT of energy to be mined and have a very big carbon footprint. For example, to mine a single Bitcoin, it takes the same amount of power that the average American household consumes in a month, and is responsible for roughly a million times more carbon emissions than a single Visa transaction.
Honestly, I don't get the hype around crypto currency and NFT's, I'd much rather use regular, old printed bills. It's much simpler
Both Bitcoin and NFT are amazing. But...
For Bitcoin, it's value is in being a decentralized currency. That values has been destroyed by the rampant speculation and price destabilization. Now it is so unwieldy that it's essentially unusable as a currency until it becomes less volatile.
NFTs are just the next technological leap in ownership. It's literally a distributed ledger for tracking titles and associating them to assets. There are many great uses. That said, as with all technology many people are relying on people not knowing what it is to scam them into buying things just because it's an NFT
@@kiraPh1234k finally someone who understands these things.
@@kiraPh1234k NFTs are a fad that is making it very easy to make money on others work.
@@IsoMacintosh NFTs are simply a distributed title ledger that also allows attached assets and entire programs. The technology is highly valuable. This means tracking ownership without the chance of forgery. That doesn't mean its "easy money" though, ownership without benefit typically isn't valuable so you still need an actual product to sell.
The scams you're referring to as "easy money" rely on taking advantage of people who don't understand the technology. This happens with all things, it is not unique to NFTs. Plenty of scams right here on RUclips, both on the channels directly but also in their adverts. These scams have quite literally nothing reliant on the NFT technology though, as you mentioned the scam is just getting people to pay for a non-product.

@@Candyflss I'm sure there are people who can explain it better, but like Caro said, they use long lines of chain and digital puzzles to make crypto secure, and purposefully make them very energy-hungry.
