I think we need to address the fact that someone is killing turtles, shells intact, and selling them to a taxidermist.
Taxidermists are usually quite ethical and source their animals from roadkill

@@anabea3199 ok yeah the turtles probably died of illness or something, but a part of taxidermy is fixing broken bones and shells so it’s possible the shell wasn’t completely intact. Animals that have died are usually donated to taxidermists by other people, and the seller has to have a certificate to prove the animal died of natural causes. Killing animals for taxidermy is highly illegal

5:30 "Fence Guy" reminds me of a news story I heard like a decade ago that I'll never forget. There were these neighbors, a man and a woman, maybe some family, I don't recall. There was a wooden fence between their yards and one of the slats or whatever had a hole in it from a knot. The male neighbor had a terrible habit of poking his ween through the knot hole at the lady next door and finally she got fed up with it and either waited for him to do it the next day or sneaked up on him when his pecker was poking through, and she grabbed his hog and jammed a sewing needle right through it, in one side and out the other so he couldn't pull his pork pole out of the fence. She then called the police and they showed up and arrested him, still locked in the fence.
Let that be a lesson, errybody. It's okay to be voyeuristic and all, but not without consent... You might end up with an arrest record, an "SO" status, and a piercing you didn't ask for.

You can buy them at most pet stores especially if they have reptiles I’m more concerned about the taxidermy job the mouse has no eyes and doesn’t look like it’s done properly so it will probably rot over time!
Seriously we have to experiments on rats and it's been a pain the ass to get new stock since we reopened after the pandemic. Most animal house and laboratories had to sacrifice mice and rat stocks.

The mouse taxidermist is actually super cool, I’ve followed her for awhile. Her taxidermy is often used by artists creating morbid dollhouses which is how I discovered her. (Also don’t worry she uses already dead mice and practices ethical taxidermy)

@@lrizzard Yes. Taxidermy using already dead animals has no ethical issues because it’s simply creating an art out of death without contributing to death. Taxidermists who find and kill animals are practicing taxidermy unethically because they’re profiting off of an animal’s death. However, there is some nuance to this. If the person who kills their taxidermied animals also uses the animals as food, it could easily be argued that they are using taxidermy as a way to use all of the remains and not let things go to waste. If the taxidermist is killing animals that are invasive or overpopulated, it could be argued that this is also ethical as many scientists will encourage the killing of certain animals to control populations or maintain an ecosystem’s balance.
However, this taxidermist doesn’t kill the animals she uses. There is no nuance. She’s practicing ethical taxidermy.

the reviews under etsy listings are for the whole shop, because there tend to be so many unique items (as in one-offs) so you can get a broad idea of the seller's general quality of product etc. so that's not necessarily 416 reviews for stripper mice unless that shop specialises in stripper mice.

Making a joke out of it when it's still an ongoing issue, despite the joke being the irony of the comparison that emphasizes his evil, feels very dismissive of the dire situation and the pain it's inflicting, especially to those directly being effected by it. I get it's a joke and it's purpose is to show he's a bad dude, but sometimes jokes hurt and can put a glaze over terrible events, even if that wasn't their intention.

Yes, they made a generalization that almost definitely doesn't apply to everyone, but taking that same generalization but flipping it invalidates the pain that many *are* feeling from it. Just because you haven't seen what they're talking about doesn't mean they're not correct that it's a widespread issue, and it doesn't necessarily mean that you're incorrect in that many people aren't effected by it. Basically just respect that the experiences of others may not match yours and it can still be valid.
