I'd personally rank the atlantique livery last. The carmilla is more modern and looks less dirty and grimey. Nothing tops the original orange livery for the TGV though

I would rather see beer reviews on these trains instead of toilet reviews. How much time does someone actually spend in a toilet on a train? You would spend more time drinking beer, then you would in the toilet. A lot more. That goes for all the You Tubers who review trains, not just Simply.

2:35 Britain has separate numbered and lettered platforms, usually where the two stations serve the same town on different routes (New Cross and New Cross Gate in London is one example)
11:05 I think that's a problem with on-board shops everywhere you go. You can't really shop around at 300 KMH/186 MPH.
13:50 One thing that helps with their competitiveness is the fact that since France and Switzerland are both in the Schengen Area, you don't need to worry about a customs check. And unlike airports, you even arrive much closer to your intended destination.

Atlantique looks a bit dated (and faded) these days, but I can't say that the Carmillon is particularly attractive. For attractive high-speed trains, look at the Italo, basically anything that FS put on the tracks, and the latest Thalys.

Short & sweet. I'd take that over an airplane ANY time. Question: if you leave your seat to go to the cafe, how do you reserve your spot back in the coach? Or are they all marked reserved? I realize you weren't sitting in your originally reserved seat. Do you just chance it?

    • @chefchaudard3580
      @chefchaudard3580 4 месяца назад

Usually, when people are seated, they remain where they are for the whole travel.
You may have an issue if you are in the bar when the train is calling somewhere, people boarding can take your place. Or at every station the train is calling at, if a person claims it. You then have to move.
Taking another seat is only possible if the train is not too busy. When it is full, people take the seat they were allocated.
When you board the train, if someone has taken your seat, if the train is not too busy and you don’t mind, you just choose another free seat, or the seat the person had booked if the train is full ( again, if the seat offered suits you. You are under no obligation, it is just politeness)

Oh no! What's Thibault going to do now with one less subscriber? Are you sure, Markus? Please reconsider. Your departure is going to be devastating to this channel. Matter of fact, I heard Thibault might even consider shutting down this channel completely. Please, Markus, I beg you, don't unsubscribe. You have no idea how much your singular contribution means to this channel.

Apart from Luxembourg, I think Switzerland is the country that has the highest train market share for international transportation to Paris. The Lyria is very successful because it serves all the major Swiss cities in different service patterns: Geneva, Lausanne, Bâle, Zurich
In comparison for Germany the TGV is basically only used for Frankfurt and Stuttgart.
And of course for Italy and Spain the TGV is rarely used because the trip is so long!

@@liamtahaney713 yes Belgium has a very high share of TGV (Eurostar brand now) to Brussels, but I’m not sure if the share is as high as Switzerland for Liège, Bruges and Anvers.
