- Bill Wann designed this entire 20,000 gallon reef tank himself. From the filters to the pumps, he built everything at home in his shop. The tank is so large, that the only way to clean is jump in with scuba gear. As he describes it “The Coolest Thing I’ve Ever Made”.

Fertilizing the eggs himself was a huge problem.
It took him 4 years and 3 wives to find a qualified donor!

Many with mega tanks enjoy the science, mechanics, biology, technology, planning and challenges as much as if not more than the actual fish and invertebrates. It's this huge challenge to them as well as something very few others have as well as a status symbol. Beautiful aquarium. Thanks for sharing.

This is MY DREAM AQUARIUM!! I have a 500g shark & ray tank with 2 spotted rays, 1 butterfly ray, 1 bat ray & then my favorite 2 banded bamboo sharks, 2 smooth grey hound shark, 1 coral cat & a bumblebee grouper! But this is AMAZING
My dream aquarium is a 2000g tank with 400 rummy nose tetras (schooling fish that will look cool in tank) 30 albino plecos 15 butterfly koi and 100 assorted platys and the aquarium will be heavily planted with some big pieces of drift wood and some duckweed

You can get led lights now just as good if not better and will save you lots on electric bills and lower the heat substantially. Worth a look into for your next build.

I wish I'd marry a guy like this, since we have the same passion. I am a builder myself, and I often wonder why I have not met anyone like me. It is so hard to find someone who is the same. I don't have as much resources as this guy has, but if I did, I would be building the same things. I am very creative and love making beautiful and very functional things. I wish I could meet someone like this guy, I would be asking him out.
