Do it, do it today, for yourself. Don't worry about how it turns out, just enjoy the journey. Art is truly therapeutic, and you'll have the best time :)
It’s fun to experiment, I still really love to more tight precise illustrations but there’s a nice feeling of freedom in splashing the paint around too 😊
Same for me. I tend to overwork my portraits I really need to loosen up! ~I've tried knitting but before I know it I can't get my needles thru because it's gotten so tight! Lol
I agree the initial wash is very loose, but I'd argue your linework is pretty tight (emphasis on "pretty"👍). The combination works great. I will try out the wash first, I usually start with the linework, then the wash, and that leads to the instinctive "must color inside the lines"
I agree, I realised as I was drawing that my linework was tight rather than loose but I guess the overall technique leads to a "loose looking" sketch...mainly avoiding the colouring inside the lines approach which takes away any loose vibes!! :) Always a work in progress :D Thanks so much for checking out the video!
As someone looking to enroll in an Illustration program who's only started sketching over the past 3 years, and begun using watercolors over the past year, this is such a helpful lesson! Thank you so much!
This looks so easy, light handed but so beautiful 🥺❤️ I think too perfectionist about my drawings and put too much pressure on me. This motivated me a lot. Thank you ❤️
I love how brave and fearless you are just throwing your paint around, I'm working so hard at trying to get loose, you're in inspiration, thank you...I loved this video...
So glad that I stumbled across your channel! I recently got really into architectural/ urban/ rural sketching, but I am yet to venture into colour. Watercolour, for me, is my artistic fear- I just don't get along with it whatsoever! I love how it looks, don't get me wrong, but I think I'm just too precious with it, so I don't embrace its true properties that make it such a beautiful medium. Thank you for sharing this timelapse, it really helps me see how to sketch with the medium, I'm going to give it a go now!
From my childhood I always had quries about how this style of art work made. Today u have guided me Thanks a lot and carry on with your beautiful art work.
I like loose sketching/painting too, it has a liveliness to it that is lost when a painting is too tight, it’s also more fun. It’s a good antidote to artists block too. Your paintings are beautiful.
This is great, thank you. I really like the way you present your videos, enough information without talking too much throughout. I enjoy sketching with ink and watercolours and love this loose style.
I haven’t painted in over a year and I’m getting back to studying after a two year gap. Painting used to be my discipline in art school, I now need to do a portfolio for my archi & interior design application (separate applications) and I’m quite nervous. Creating art is such a volatile skill. You take too much time off you become rusty, though you get the hang eventually but you start off really rigid, stiff handed and like a beginner almost 😅 Please wish me luck. I need the final acceptance more than anything 🧎🏽♀️
I've only drawn people/portraits for the past year. I happened upon this video by chance, what an amazing eye opener! I may have to give buildings a try...
By minute eight or so i thought it was pretty much done, it looked rather finished and cool, but then you kept adding subtle touches and WOW!! I loved the final result! I want to learn more from you, you have a new subsciber!
i love the look of this style of art. i want to learn watercolour. I'm coming from a background in hyperrealism graphite portraits, and its really hard for me to loosen up, paint outside of the lines so to speak. Thank you for this video, i will be checking out more of your channel.
A great technique using watercolor and ink. I use the ink after my watercolor paints but I like your technique now. Thanks for sharing your creativity!
Oh thank you! Can't wait to try something like this! I draw portraits constantly. Got into old barns and birds. Felt like I couldn't do watercolor paintings because I'm not loose or light. You make it look so doable!
i used to watch these in instagram posts but never knew the process is so fun and kinda looks easy well it might not be, but in pics it used to look so beautiful that i always thought it could be very difficult, i m surprised how i watched whole video without fast forwarding it with so much concentration, grateful to come across your page. i might start with copying the whole thing lol to learn :) hope u dont mind that
I have starte water colour painting, as I was learning I realised I do not want my painting to look so real. I felt like I wanted freedom and enchantment. I Love the way you are using different mediums to create the painting. SOmething enchanting about it. I love your style 💚💛💙💜
Okay first of all this is beyond awesome.. it looks wonderful. And then you make look so easy and explain in such a nice way.. i can't wait to try this out myself..
My favorite think about this style of loose watercolors is the negative space and how the picture is revealed and fades away with the middle of the paper. It’s just so cool looking to me.
Taria, I only just discovered your channel but everything from your style, content, choices of media... its exactly what I've been searching for! I love your work, and I only regret I didn't find your channel sooner. Thank you for sharing your strategies behind your work with all of us. You are so relaxing to learn from, and you have an excellent eye for your craft. I know this will help me grow into the artist I dream to become :) Thank you!
I loved it. May I ask what type of sketch paper is that ? I mean the density of the thickness of paper coz I am afraid the paper I have won't absorb this much water color and still be good to draw on
Lovely painting. You've inspired me to try sketching some architecture, which I've never really done before. We'll see what happens. Thanks for sharing. 😊
This was beautifully done. I am beginning to develop an increased interest in sketching, and wished to hang around to get some inspiration, ideas, and lessons. Quite an exquisite technique. Thank you so much for sharing, Taria : ) I'll be back to check out some more of your stuff. Take care, and all the very best! 😀👋
you are a God Send...am making my bucket list and I want to do my parents house and my husband's home from England...so am going with your style...thank you so much...I will try your live classes..please advise how to get your live classes...thx

i tend to draw tight, exact. thanks for coaxing my out my comfort zone!
It’s fun to experiment, I still really love to more tight precise illustrations but there’s a nice feeling of freedom in splashing the paint around too 😊
Yea me too its really hard to try loose
Same for me. I tend to overwork my portraits I really need to loosen up! ~I've tried knitting but before I know it I can't get my needles thru because it's gotten so tight! Lol
U don't need scales to draw perfect lines! Wow😮
Ya once you draw regularly its easy to draw line and shapes easily its all about practice
@@nishapunekar8202 sadly not me. I have insanely shaky hands
I agree the initial wash is very loose, but I'd argue your linework is pretty tight (emphasis on "pretty"👍).
