    Special notice!!! TK Customs!!
    I just purchase the Taurus Judge 3 in black.. thought what a wonderful concept to be able to fire a 45acp in this very powerful revolver.. U Tubers once again give conflicting details.. I rolled the dice and order a set of 5, 45 cal moon clips. TK got them right out to me. These 45 cal clips work great, EZ to load, cylinder closes just like it’s supposed to.. what a great option to be able to grab a box of 45acp load my clips ( by hand) and go shooting!!! the little bit of pressure on the tool you can load them by hand. By the time you load the tool, the clip can be loaded by hand.

    Thanks for the kind and prompt reply. Indeed, it was Federal that I was using when the TK clip using the TK tool literally broke the arm off the clip.

    I ordered one of these loaders along with the moon clips and removal tool for my 7-shot S&W 586 L-Comp. The moonclips bind on the loader tools spindle after inserting two rounds of 38 special. I had a heck of a time getting the moonclips off and now the clip is bent and the loader tool's spindle is scored. I'm using TK's stainless moonclips.
    I'm currently on vacation, but will be contacting TK Customs to see if they can send me a different tool.

    I did it by hand..
    Using a needle nose pliars for the last round. TK Customs are great clips.

    Is it necessary to modify the cylinder to use those clips in a .357 revolver please ?

    i always wondered how you load/unload those things. i was just told not to do it by hand or you may bend the clip without noticing (leading to a jammed revolver...)

      TK Custom is TOPS with me. I will use them on moon clip alteration of my 5 inch 460 Smith and Wesson magnum X-frame revolver. And possibly my 329PD Smith and Wesson 44 magnum.

    I’ve bent and broken through 3 sets of these and I give up. I was told it was the ammo I was using...so then I used the ammo recommended and the clip broke on the third insertion instead of the 8th. What’s more, they bend and deform your brass so that the damaged rounds become unusable after you have to remove what’s left from the broken clip. I’ve pretty much had it with the whole moon clip concept...have some speed bees coming and a precision clip tool...I’ll see if that combo works. If that doesn’t work, I guess whatever comes with my Model 627 I’ll just have to manage things within the first 8 rounds.

      Federal Brass and Remington Brass are superb. If you're using anything else you will have issues as the extractor groove is different from brass to brass.

    Does using the moon clip loader and unloader bend the brass casing? I am wondering for reloading purposes.

    Thanks for this. In retrospect I feel very stupid for not immediately understanding how the stripper tool worked.

    I’ve bent up three clips now doing it that way. I just can’t get it. They go in until the 6th round and then no go

    I have made 3 different versions of this loader and one major problem occurs during every reloading of the clip....As you begin to load the clip becomes unbalanced and the rim of the round will not load onto the clip

    Got 3 moonclips loaded in no time this way. Tried by hand at first. Got a chunk of skin out of my finger. FUCK all that. Dead blow hammer is the real deal.

    I never knew what a moon clip was until today. Seems unnecessary and a major pain in the ass!

  • @tjmeade1996
    @tjmeade1996 5 лет назад +1

    Am I missing something? This concept just seems stupid. Why even design a weapon that needs one? If it's for convenient loading, just use a speed loader.

    • @kylebradley3
      @kylebradley3 5 лет назад

      Faster unloading and loading, it's more for competition shooting and non rimmed rounds like 9mm and 45acp. The ejector won't touch those, but it will catch the moon clip just fine.

      The Colt and Smith & Wesson 1917 revolvers were designed to use moon clips because the US Army was only using the .45 acp as handgun ammo, and there were not enough Model 1911 pistols to fill the need. The companies found it easy to reconfigure their larger .45 Colt revolvers for the .45acp. Since then, many people who use a .45acp pistol liked the idea of being able to shoot a revolver in their favorite cartridge.

      Way faster to reload & ejecting spent rounds are more reliable. If you reload yuh our brass or have to p/u your empties there nicely bundled together. If you compare the cost of 5 or 10 quality speed loaders to moon clips is about 1/3 the cost. Almost every revolver sold today is cut for moon clips. And if you're shooting a rimless/semi-rimed case like 45cap/40sw/9mm/10mm...there a must! ....I guess now do they make sense?

    • @sinisterthoughts2896
      @sinisterthoughts2896 Год назад +1

      it's superior to speed loading in every way? you just drop in your rounds as a packet. done. no fiddling with the bulkier peed loader. when you reload you dump the cartridges as a packet and insert a new packet. it is way faster and more reliable.

    • @sinisterthoughts2896

      I'd rather save time when shooting (or possibly being shot at), than when loading. but if you'd rather take your time on the range (including the two-way), that's your prerogative. but I believe you meant "that's not worth the time *for me*." otherwise you should provide evidence for that rather precarious statement.
