    There is a Brazil dish called Iping. It has all the same ingredients but also have to add cream cheese.

    Great recipe. I was wondering what I could add to this mash to take it to the next level, i.e, garlic, onion, maybe added some roasted vegetables or greens like kale or collard to make it healthier.

    Hi Ida, well a you know I can't get that here but it looks stringy to me. Is it tough and dry to eat?

    • @sweetsandbeyond
      @sweetsandbeyond  10 лет назад +1

      FitAnge S Hi Ange, it is dense, it all depends how you cook it. I don't think it's tough or dry. It could be a bit stringy but not dry to eat.

    • @oterrabcire
      @oterrabcire 10 лет назад +1

      Yucca tends to be more fibrous than a potato. So the stringy is typical.

      I usually boil the yucca for about 30 minutes bc often, they don't cook thoroughly. I like when it looks somewhat clear througout.
      After mashing it, I add a freshly made Cuban mojo to it and it comes out amazing.
      Make sure you add a something cold to it when mashing it like (milk/evaporated milk) and this won't let it get hard once done.

    Does anyone know if you can substitute this for potatoes in potato salad?

      You can try but I would think it would be too dry

    I love your videos, but I don't like yucca. I'm hoping you can show us how to make pasteles...although I know they are very labor intensive, and most people make huge batches (I knew someone whose mom would make almost 200 every Christmas season). Maybe a smaller batch..like 16 or 25 would help. Especially since the holiday season is coming up!

      I agree. I've seen others on you tube who make pasteles but I am hoping Ida will do it too although she has said in other videos that won't do it.
