I just want to say that I am Puertorican but I had never cooked and I went to your channel and I have been using your videos to teach me for months. My food has been amazing and my husband is loving it. I'm so happy and I have YOU to thank. I never get the chance to comment because I'm always busy following the video while cooking but I wanted to take the opportunity to thank you. You are great and you know what works! I've done the Tembleque, arroz con gandules, arroz con pollo, Sofrito, and so many other foods through your videos. Thank you so much!
adribaby149 I was on the same boat before watching her videos my husband loves it too I sometimes add pickled jalapeños, I know it sounds weird but I put it to add a little more something
My husband loves to cook and is Puerto Rican. He always checks S&B videos, to get the PR recipes, and shows me how it's done:) I am glad they are in english, so I can follow her! Very easy to follow her!! Thank you!
I'm making this dish cuz of your video. I was born in Cuba, but in was raised around all Americans and I've been alienated from my culture so this will be my first time making Spanish food

I am 66 yrs old, Puerto Rican raised in the states, and...hate to cook! Yes, you heard me right. But I love to eat. Ha Ha!. It has only been a couple weeks since I just happened upon your videos and I love them. I have tried some of your recipes and it has bought me back to memories of my mom's cooking. Thank you...keep cooking.
The first time I tried this meal was in a domestic violence shelter and the cook was on vacation so The Advocates had cooked and one of the Advocates was an older Puerto Rican woman who made this and I've been looking for this this ever since. I never knew what it was called I just knew that it was delicious. Now that I finally have the recipe I've made it several times and my family loves it! And I'm not Hispanic I'm actually African-American LOL
I’m Mexican/American but have always LOVED everything about PUERTO RICO! 🇵🇷 I will be making this for dinner tonight! Wish me luck! Thank you for this. You are appreciated! ❤️

Ida, thank you so much for teaching me how to cook my culture food. My mother and father are both Puerto Rican and passed away when I was 23. I was an abuse child and my mother would always cook before she left for work, so when my brother & I got home our food was already made. I didn’t get the chance to learn with my mother what I’m learning with you and for that I am grateful. Mil gracias corazón ❤️🇵🇷 Denise Rivera

I made this while following your video except we had store bought Sofrito in the fridge so I used that and chicken drumsticks. I want to thank you for posting this video because like you said "the end result was awesome". It tasted exactly how my mother used to make it when I was growing up. How I dearly miss her and her gift for cooking Boricua meals. My rice also came out perfect. Next time I will use your guide to make homemade Sofrito. My mother would not have done it any other way, so why should I. Again, thank you for posting this wonderful recipe and bringing back a part of my life that I've forgotten a long time ago. God Bless You.

You are my FAVORITE RUclips PR cook! My Abuela passed so long ago and I miss the smell of her house. Regardless of the day or time her home smelled like Murphys Wood Polish, coffee and delicious foods. I know a lot of recipes but I forget some ingredients and steps, like browning the chicken. I love watching you! You sound like family and everything I have made after watching you has been on point!! I leave your video playing as I cook and it's like cooking with my tips, lol.

So this is where you come in 😂😂 thank you for making your videos easy and simple. ❤

God bless you I'm cooking this for my grandmother today cause she's unable to cook I always watch your video my mother couldn't believe how good my food comes out cause I go by your directions and not old school Puerto rican measurements cause sometimes they over season and I want mine to have flavor but not throw the whole table of salt!
I thought I was the only one to use the technical Term Squish It down But any ways My brother in law is Puerto Rican before My sister married him I never really had that much spanish cooking but she gave me this recipe plus a Gizoogle more (another technical term I use) lol anyways love the recipe making it tonight for dinner also going to make some Spanish pork some time next week Thanks again Liked and subscribed
Thank you for your recipe! Everytime I ask my mother for her recipe it's always "some of this" or "a little of that" hahah my husband and I just devoured it and he hates rice!!!
Thank you sooo much for walking me through this recipe. My daughter is half Puerto Rican, her Dad (my ex husband)and I split up when she was very young. I myself am Mexican. When I was still with her father, it was and still is very important that I learned how to, not only intre him to homemade Mexican cuisine, but to be able to make his favorite dishes as well. So his Mother was nice enough to teach me several dishes, and some close friends, too. The one thing I was showed how to make, but never attempted was this recipe. Besides a few differences, your recipe was the same. So thanks to you, I was able to recall her recipe and follow along with yours,(except where you added water, I used her 1/2 a beer and the same amount of grape juice) and my daughter could enjoy another part of her heritage’s cuisine. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Don't worry...It doesn't happen for me either...yet I still get great rice... Nunca lo he podido lograr que la cuchara quede paraíta en el arroz. Sin embargo siempre me sale muy bien el arroz...(Modestia aparte)
I made this recipe twice and I love it my husband loved the one I used to make but now hes in love with this one!!! Im Colombian but hes puerto rican and obviously my cooking is way to different but ever since I started watching ur videos it had helped me alot now i can say im a 1/4 puerto rican lol I also made arroz con gandules (your way) for my whole family and they are in love with it my aunt said im hired for the next party lol thank you so much for the videos
Thank you because if I use to follow your recipes before quarantine, now that I am staying safe in my home I follow you more. My family appreciates it more.

I posted this comment 9yrs ago. My cooking skills have drastically improved and I still make your recipe when I make a pollo guisado. I will never forget you! Thank you for a wonderful forever gift. ❤

Great. Let me know how it turns out!
Exactly!!! 🥰
Gary Scott Thank you! My other technical term is "Smoosh it" LOL
muy bueno y bien explicado, muchas gracias por compartir
Thank you for your recipe! Everytime I ask my mother for her recipe it's always "some of this" or "a little of that" hahah my husband and I just devoured it and he hates rice!!!
So happy to hear that! You're very welcome!
I can tell how passionate you are about cooking. As a Puerto Rican chef it makes me really happy seeing your share our amazing dishes.
