A student showing good grades to their parents, is a perfect analogy. It's a similar relationship between us and our brains. Thank you for sharing this video!
My friend who I had argued with and not talked with for quite a while finally called me today to go do watering activity together and was even honest about her plans and appeared comfortable talking to me. That's a win babe
I acknowledged my anxiety when ruminating on a conversation with a family member within myself. I am willing to make changes and retrain my brain. I will be intentional. I celebrate my goal to be more in the moment and less anxious.
I struggled with so much depression and anxiety that I could barely get up out of bed and move around. I could barely even eat or drink without feeling nauseous. But today I got up out of bed and finally ate and grabbed myself something to drink :)
What you described was exactly how my parents parented me, they never recognised when I did anything right. This video was extremely relevant and helpful. I'm doing the work to reparent myself. Thank you Allison, I'm grateful for you :)
I grabbed a banana and a small serving of almonds as I ran out the door this morning instead of skipping breakfast and then feeling awful and overeating at lunch. Yay!! 👍 Great video. I feel pumped to continue! Thanks 😊
This is a wonderful example, and kudos to you! Doing an exercise that you typically struggle with is a definite small win, and noticing these makes a big difference in our mood when we do it consistently. Bravo! :)
Yes. My small win was to straight away look up your vid and yes it was a win. So thanks and I aim to go about the rest of my day hopeful and on the look-out for more small wins.Cheers.

As a physician, in addition to the stress of work, I'm required to focus on the negative to exclude serious illnesses. This lifestyle is making me so negative. Meditation is what's keeping me sane at this point.
You've got a TOUGH job, and my hat is off to you. Your job by nature presents a negatively weighted sample throughout the day, given that people rarely seek out physicians when they're feeling well. I'm so glad meditation is helpful for you! There's lots of research that meditation is helpful for stress, so I'm glad you're already on the train. In terms of burnout, I think this concept of celebrating small wins is a HUGE help. You're going to have a lot of stressors and tough stuff throughout the day, AND you're also going to have some wins, though they'll likely stand out a lot less, which is why we have to be on the lookout for them. You had a kind interaction with a patient, you were running on time for the first two hours of the day, an insurance company faxed something over early, a nurse did you a favor without having to ask. (I obviously don't know your speciality, so I'm just giving a few random examples.) Realizing these wins, no matter how small, and no matter what else is happening, is a helpful way to cope with burnout, and it's a skill I use A LOT in my own career. Thank you for watching and commenting and for the work that you do!
@@DrAllisonAnswers Thank you for the great comment, i really appreciate it. I never realized how celebrating small wins is much much harder than getting sad over small losses at least for me. I think it is because my brain isn't used to celebrate and therefore tends to look for the sad parts and is actually better at it. That is why i need to actively exercise celebrating small wins until it becomes the average.
Sounds like this year is going to be the first birthday you celebrate then! It matters and more importantly, YOU matter. Start celebrating the small wins and see if that makes it easier to celebrate the bigger stuff. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thanks for your comment, and you are SO right, sometimes our brains have a hard time believing healthier self-talk. I'm linking a previous post and an older video that speaks to this exact thing, so I think you'll find them both SUPER helpful! drallisonanswers.com/anxiety/fake-it-till-you-make-it/ ruclips.net/video/NC4kgw7FmI0/видео.html Thanks for watching and commenting!

YES YES YES! A definite win! Well done!
I managed my workout yesterday despite not being in the mood for it. Thank-you for your helpful videos!
This video helped me lot. It was absolutely excellent.

Thank you so much, Addy! It's getting longer, so I'm trying some new things :)
My small win today was working out, and my smaller win within that was doing this ab/oblique exercise I really struggle with! 👍
