    I have just seen this film today at my local cinema and it was excellent. This is not just a film about being stalked it is also about how isolating it is to move to another country where you don't speak the language. All the actors in this film are superb.

    I'm getting tired of the thriller scare you, disturb you genre of film making but this was a very well made film that never went way over the top. It kept my attention throughout the movie. I'd seen so many films dealing with serial killers over the years starting with The Hitcher 1986 and Cop 1987. This would almost be considered a contemporary classic to those, it was that well made.

    Just got done watching and all I can say is the movie is so brilliant that I could also feel the fear, anxiety, frustration and desperation of the character. It is slow paced for me yet not boring since every scene captures the events that made the main character feel distressed. The train scene gave me goosebumps. The ending is satisfying yet too short for me. Overall, the movie is really worth watching.

      Making the "Watcher" a serial killer DESTROYED the excellent subway scene.
      The movie is about loneliness, and how society sympathizes with women who are directly responsible for their loneliness, but make "creeps" out of men who have loneliness thrust upon them.
      Rewatch it with this in mind, and understand that the first hour and 20 minutes was brilliant, but then they ruined it with the ending.

    • @alexhoneybee9677
      @alexhoneybee9677 2 года назад +3

      @@vikingkirk762 I went back and watched it, keeping in mind what you said. You were right. The most intense parts are within the middle of the movie itself. It was the fear itself that propelled the movie. That was the main concept.

    • @vikingkirk762
      @vikingkirk762 2 года назад +7

      @@alexhoneybee9677 There's more to it than that. The "Watcher's" explanation was perfectly reasonable. Most Millennials have already buried a parent already, and the media does not address that. My father was murdered before I turned 28, and Obama"Care" has wiped out the parents of most of my graduating class.
      The responsibility to be with my mother the past 5 years is exactly as the "Watcher" describes; the world completely passes by you. You are not free, yet you are all alone.
      The movie should have ended at this excellent explanation, but it decided to be generic and feminist, and thus, ruined everything it had going for it.

    The ending saved this one. And I think a lot of people are basing their experience not on the paint-by-numbers boredom of the first 85 minutes, but the solid closing half dozen.
    To that point, there was absolutely nothing remarkable about this film. But it WAS done well. I thought the acting, etc., was fine and they were certainly looking for a mood. I don't think they quite got there, but I have the idea a lot depends on whether you've already seen a dozen versions of this exact story before.
    I'm not sure the writing was that great. There weren't really any characters I found myself pulling for, which is kind of important given that we're supposed to be sympathetic to the woman who believes she's being watched. But it was easier to empathize with the people surrounding her, to whom she must have seemed like a real pain the ass.
    I would definitely recommend it because it was done fairly well, and everyone's experience will be different than mine, considering I've watched a LOT of horror movies. But unless you invest yourself beyond what the movie really deserves, I'm not sure you'll remember it 5 minutes after the credits roll.

      I loved it. I usually rewatch movies that I fall for. Particularly thrillers that pull me in. In this case I will disagree with you. The movie has remained in my phsyce. I am mostly attached to the main protagonist who I feel is abandoned by her husband who leaves her vulnerable to the situation that occurs. In my eyes it's about the relationship between them two. I'm pulled in to it by that. In the end the husband slips up and betrays her with the comment about her keeping the spider company. It seals the deal for me.

    • @cobbler88
      @cobbler88 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@christianquinones8081 I've just seen too many of these in which the protagonist quickly becomes paranoid beyond common sense, the switch flips and they then become impossible to want to be around. I just feel bad for the people around them, to be honest.
      But it does play into the idea that you have to have a protagonist you pull for. In your case you do, and in mine I don't, so that likely explains our difference in how vested we were.
      Take care.

      @cobbler88 5 месяцев назад

      @@jnknknk I probably went on a little too much. I've just been noticing trends over the past decade or so. I think the writing just gets kind of trope-y and lazy.
      "Hereditary" was one trope after another, but they sort of played out in a sideways manner and were done well, so it wasn't an issue. It's not like every director can re-invent the wheel every time out.
      But if you don't have anything new or original to put out there - even if it's a different way to present a story that has been done countless times - why are you making the film at all? Go make Hallmark movies. I watch tons of those. They truly are paint by numbers affairs.
      Take care.

    If a creep watches your window whenever you stay near the window, just don't stay near the window or never open the curtain until or unless it's important.i know it's not that simple though.

    There are movies that start well and end terribly badly. This is quite the opposite. The obvious ceases to be obvious only to end up being the obvious. The film is an interesting exploration of couple relationships. And the main actress!!! My God!! How come I hadn't seen her before? She is simply brilliant! The husband too.

      But if uu actually think about it, them not closing their curtains from early on actually saved the girl.
      Do uu think she would have been on-guard and alert as she was, had she not been aware of her stalker?
      How many women did that guy kill simply bcoz they weren't as spooked as Julia was?
