Black thought is certainly a lyricist, he also brings it everytime with his freestyles and capitalizes, heard multiple straight masterpieces by him, very captivating. However, I feel the same about Royce and then some, he just appeals more to me as an artist. This is all subjective man, convos about hip hop will never run out of fuel, but respect to both.

I don't think they'd fit well in a song together.

That's only in comparison to Royce though, because that's who was being talked about. However, if your reading comprehension was up to par, you'd also have noticed the sarcastic tone I was using. I begrudgingly put Em over Royce, because that IS popular opinion. What was the question? Why doesn't Royce get brought into the conversation when talking about the greatest? I answered, not with my opinions, but with the popular opinions, because the question doesn't apply to me. I put Royce in my top 10. Now, as far as Em and Thought, Yah Yah is the best example of how delusional that is. Yeah, Thought got bars, dope cadence's and schemes, but the verse that follows it up, doesn't really leave any room for debate.

His first “hit” boom was respected underground. Unfortunately the mainstream wasn’t that responsive to that sound. They wanted more boastful bragidocios sounds. That label closed I think and he went more independent route and without big label money and connections to get radio play back then you didn’t have a shot in the dark to get music on the radio. He here now tho. I remember his first website where you could email questions to him and I asked him what blade icewood was like in the Stu. 😂 I didn’t get an answer.

@@nickcaputo5385 everyone's case is different but I think people are less patient today. Teacher just want to say something is wrong with your kid. ADD and ADHD is hereditary my husband has it he just never knew. Both of my kids have it and they are doing great. I think that we need to stop making these disorders taboo or bad. As to the autism study shows that the symptoms start to show when they are toddlers so people make the connection that it's the vaccines.

I just want to say is that Royce new album is already a classic in my book. I been a fan of him since his slim shady LP verse on bad meets evil. Ever since, he got me. This album is definitely a work of art that's going to last. Get them masters! Royce is bringing back lyrics, which is considered to be a true wordsmith (MC).

In regards to the ice cream truck jingle fact: I haven't listened to the album yet so idk if Royce addresses this or not but do we know for sure for sure that whoever first decided to make that their ice cream truck jingle was racist and that's the reason why the person made it their jingle? Bc that tune is way older than 1916 and not only used for "N**** Love A Watermelon. Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!". Before that, in the 19th century, it was "Turkey in the Straw" and then before that "The (Old) Rose Tree". So, is it possible that whoever first made/popularized that tune as their ice cream truck tune was not doing it because of the fucked up racist version? I mean...don't get me wrong, if it was me and I was finding a jingle for my ice cream trucks I wouldn't use a song that had _any_ racist history or connotations...or if I didn't know about the racist song and found out after I had already started using it, I'd immediately change it. But I'm just curious: do we know for sure that the reason that song is used as the ice cream truck jingle is because whoever chose it is a racist piece of shit? Or are they simply an ignorant piece of shit who jus didn't know about the racist aspect and never changed it? Just curious.

That point about the album being a bunch of thoughts really makes it stand out more, because some of the songs don't have a clear flow and just say some philosophical things at the end, but when you consider them to be a bunch of thoughts, it really changes your view.

So Royce isn't %100 right on the ice cream song being orginally racist. The orginal song is called Turkey in a Straw, a folk song from the 1800s. But in 1916, someone remade the melody , switching the lyrics, and made it super racist. It became popular, so lot of people think it's the orginal. It's not.

    • @linper6375

The1TheyCall Foo Yes but they “Turkey in a Straw wasn’t exactly the innocent version ice man took from. They would promote black face minstrels with that ice cream truck and they did have hidden racial meaning behind it look up “Zip Coon” and you’ll understand what he talking about.
