Hi, thanks for the very informative guide!
I got 2 pairs of the Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 3200Mhz CL16 (CMW32GX4M2E3200C16), but the 2x16 kits, for a total of 64Gb RAM. My system consists of an AMD Threadripper 3960x on a Gigagyte TRX40 Aorus MAster, latest BIOS.
    The Corsairs have Micron Technology, 2048M x64 (2 ranks), Revision / Raw Card 0000h / B0 (8 layers), 8 Gb D-die (Z01B / 20 nm) / 1 die.
Using your guide I got them to run stable at 3600MHz with the following timings and settings at VDIMM 1.44V:
    MCLK/FCLK/UCLK: 1800
    CAS Latency (CL) 18T
RAS To CAS Delay (tRCD) 22T
    RAS Precharge (tRP) 22T
    RAS Active Time (tRAS) 41T
    Row Cycle Time (tRC) 60T
    (tRTP) 14T
    (tRFC) 312
    (tRFC2) 495T
    (tRFC4) 132
    (tFAW) 32T
    (tWCL) 16T
    (tRCDW) 22T
    tMOD 27
    ProcODT 60.0Ω
    Command Rate (CR) 1T
    All Driver strengths at 20Ω
All memory controller and SOC voltages as posted here.
So, any suggestions from your expertise or fine tuning some parts of the timings so I can get them to run at 3800MHz, please?
Maybe tweaking some details would help, but if it's not possible, that's fine.
    Thank you in advance!
PS: I use AMD Ryzen Master to set all the parameters.

I've never tinkered around with the threadripper platform to be honest. But, from my experience, 1.5v usually gets you over 3600mhz, with a loser tRCDRD. But at this point reaching 3800mhz with lower timings will result in same or worse performance than 3600mhz with current timings.
I would be happy right where I am at, going from 3200mhz to 3600mhz fclk 1:1. I know the minds more and more poweeeeeerrrr! 🙂 But right where you are, I'd make an educated guess and say you're on the edge of diminishing returns. I'd put it in my pocket and walk away happy 😊.

yo, do you have any WHEA warnings? I have thousands of "Event 19, WHEA LOGGER". it's on core 0. Though, they don't affect gameplay or anything, I'm just curious why this happens.

    • @TechnologyHive
      @TechnologyHive  Год назад

I do not get WHEA unless I push over 1900fclk. As long as I stick to 3800MT/s 1:1 ratio I do not have problems. WHEA are being corrected by the OS as they happen. If too many roll out though, you will get a crash.
Even if you do not see any performance hit, it is a sign something is not ok and you should look into lowering your memory speeds. This is typical when memory overclocking is unstable but other factors can also cause WHEA which are many.

This is due to both memory channels being loaded up. A1, B1, A2, B2. If you check on your board website it specifies what the max supported frequency is when all dimms are loaded.
If all dimms loaded are supported at the XMP rated speed, but you're still experiencing issues, then it's your IMC. As you know not all IMCs are equal. Some are better than others. Yours just might not be silicone lottery. A bump in cpu voltage sometimes helps. Also, 1.15 soc voltage could help.

Voltages to focus on starting off are: RAM voltage, and SoC voltage. Leave the rest on AUTO for now as you start your journey into the unknown 🙂. The number one factor in my experience, which will stop 99% of ram overclockers in their tracks, is tRCDRD timing. • @TechnologyHive
      @TechnologyHive  Год назад

On the motherboard there should be a jumper labelled CLR CMOS. Use a flathead screw driver to bridge the gap. Make sure the PC is off. This is for an AMD system.
Do not make all the changes at once in order to isolate the problem. Start with your primary timings at the frequency you want, and reboot. Run a memory test, and if it passes, go into the bios and create a profile and save those settings.
Next move on to the sub-timings tRRDS, tRRDL, and tFAW to where you want to set them, and reboot. Run a test, and passed, go into the bios and also save those changes in the profile you created and so on...

With Intel you get a few settings that are not available on AM4. But generally speaking yes, these settings should work, but there is no guarantee because your motherboard and CPU memory controller play a big role in this. Granted, with a good board and good cpu silicone, you should be able to match or exceed these settings.

did you ever try it? I have a 10600k z490, I overclocked mine so far to 3800 the old fashion way, but my cas is way looser timings than his, I haven't tried his method as one my chips are b-die samsung single banks, and two he seems to cater to amd, so I'm not sure what to do. I'd like to know what each thing he changed was and what to change if each little thing didn't work. Ah well.
