    Short Summary:
What makes the difference when writing?
    - Coherence - always ask, "So what?"
    - Logic - remove sentences that don't make sense
    - Choose the easiest idea to write about and have a clear position
    - Don't use fancy vocabulary; otherwise, you're likely to make many mistakes.

This is actually one of the most realistic and valuable content about the writing topic among thousands I have seen so far. I wish I got these advice earlier than this. Much appreciation, Chris!
Edit: I got an overall 7.5 from exam last week. The best part is 6.5 for writing section because I could only write an introduction for the task 1 (yes! Almost all score is coming from task 2!)
This is still the best guide for a successful writing. My appreciation is for the whole team!

I totally agree with you but 'the most highest' is grammatically incorrect; the word 'high' is considered to be a short word so the superlative form of it will be : *the highest*....we only use the most with 'long words' such as interesting, impressive etc....

Thank you so much Chris! You're right about the Asian teaching thing. For years, we’ve been taught to balance both sides and give at least 2 ideas in each paragraph (firstly, secondly). I did go through a lot of confusion because I didn't know which way is the most correct. So I just want some justification here, please help me:
    1. Can I apply the method "1 idea each paragraph" in all types of writing tasks 2?
    2. Can I give an example before the explanation (explain the example)? This is kinda helpful cause I struggle with abstract explanations.
    Thank you!

I don't teach writing (just speaking) as I haven't had any formal training, and would feel like I'm doing people a disservice by advising them on how to do these tasks. However, your videos are invaluable; so I can at least help them avoid the bad advice and viral videos out there, and help them choose a good teacher. Thanks

What I found to be fascinating about your band 8.0 essay is the fulfilment of TR:
    - Owe a debt to the country (briliant "paraphasing" of "sticking to their motherland"; I think lots of candidates lack this)
    - Receive considerable funding from gov
    - (although there is) a tremendous amount of investment
I didn't think it was possible to write in the way you deliver the idea through 3 unique sentences, with almost no overlap in vocabs. I am aware that once you become proficient, you can pull this off when actively focusing on addressing the question instead of nervous about fancy structures, but I believe this was an amazing feat of your piece nonetheless.
Is there any advice you would like to give students on how to achieve this? Practicing and gaining knowledge on various topics?

My strategy may sound dumb, but to help myself analysing essays I just think that I am an IELTS examiner, e.g. Chris, and I imagine to be super strict and demanding towards criteria points that are listed in band descriptors. It eventually helps me to notice the mistakes I made without even looking into descriptors.
Hopefully, I can reach the highest score possible :D
