    I am a swimmer, and since last year I have had this problem. It really distracted me and made me all nervous. You speak very well in this subject and thank you.

      Adam,
      Much of the problems in this sport are a direct result of your focus leaving the feel of your movement and going to your thoughts! You can only go fast when you focus on, for example, how much water you're pulling, staying long, your tempo or kick, etc. When you focus on feel both before and during your swims, you'll go fast, stay calm and maintain your confidence.
      Far too many swimmers focus on their thoughts before and during races. That is, who you're racing against, what you think others may think of you, the times you want, etc. Focusing on thoughts will make you nervous, tighten your muscles up and kill your confidence, all of this leading to a slow swim.
      Your job is to stay aware of where your focus goes both before and during your races and when you start thinking, your job is to immediately reset to your feel!

      David,
      Glad you liked it! This is a great exercise to really teach you how to have a neutral response to your thoughts and therefore to be able to be at your best, even when that voice of negativity and doubts is whispering in your ear!

    Is this a type of meditation ?

      @TheCompetitivedge  3 года назад +2

      In a sense yes! You want to learn to take a very neutral, objective perspective of your thoughts and train yourself not to engage, listen to or try to fight with their thoughts. This is an elite level skill that anyone can learn with practice!
