It’s only now that I’m really seeing how well my hair can hold a wave nicely and it’s absolutely a mix of having shorter hair, getting layers, learning what products my hair likes, and getting my application techniques to be consistent
Shorter hair definitely is a major factor. My hair was shoulder length just got a cut to collar length and my waves and curls are popping. My stylist cuts my hair dry.
We have the same hair type! Kind of soft and fine yet very curly. It’s hard to find other youtubers with this hair type and I have to say your videos about protein/moisture balance really helped me. I realized after one of your videos that I had overly moisturized my hair a lot and that I actually didn’t need much more than a styling product with good hold in my routine, so I wanted to say thank you for your insightful content❤
I finally found the best product for my hair that I can extend my hair for three days. I can’t extend more than that because I get a lot of build up and my scalp gets soooo itchy and inflamed. 😢 Edited to add the following: I forgot to add the products LOL. Innersence I create definition paired with I Create Hold Also, JSL essentials Leave in paired with the gel. And lastly Boucleme gel cream paired with the super hold gel. My hair is extremely thin, low porosity and low density. I also live in South Florida, the capital of humidity.
A strong hold gel was my fix, it makes my curls last forever! I wash my hair every 3 weeks, no refreshing. I would go longer but at the end of week 3 my scalp starts to get oily. It makes me feel like a spoiled brat, I love it!
Really curious to learn what’s changed on your journey from where you began to where you are now. Your hair reminds me of what my hair feels capable of, but a year and a half-ish into my journey and I’m still no closer to answers as my hair falls flat within a few hours of drying. “Not enough moisture” and “too much moisture” seem to yield the same end result… so how do we figure it out when it doesn’t feel like there’s any cookie crumbs to follow?
I was totally frustrated with my hair as well, and finally started working with a licensed professional curl specialist and that honestly made all the difference. Also, moisture & hydration are two different things. Moisture refers to oil, hydration refers to water. Just like dry vs dehydrated.

Cant wait to see what other hairsprays you've been using as the bouncecurl one is a bit pricy. Ive fine hair and i do find the curl smith shine and the in shower gel are fab . My hait loves protien as i do colour my hair ❤

Hi! Just curious, do you also sometimes style with 2 gels? I find it really works for my fine hair if I use a lighter gel like umberto curl jelly first and then a harder hold gel on top. I dont get such good results just using a hardhold gel alone. Anyone else find this works well for them, just curious.. 🌸🌸
My hair have the perfect wavy/curly texture couple of months ago, then I got a haircut around end of June last month and all of a sudden my hair won’t hold a curl anymore and it feels dry.. is that mean I’m in need of a protein bond?

Try sleeping on a silk pillowcase, with your hair up in a silk scrunchie and silk bonnet. I use a curlcream,foam then strong hold gel to moisturise,add volume and hold the curls in place once styled. Let me know if this helps!?

Really want try curlsmith hairspray. Have curlsmith foam going try that between the cream and gel and maybe use less cream see how that goes thank you

My hair just doesn’t stay after hair wash day. I have type 3A/3B hair. I think I need a bit of layers on the side.

@@MynameisZizi8 it’s nowhere near as hot as heat styling tools or as using a hairdryer without a diffuser, this is because it disperses the air gently
