@@Smexbi Not the same, but even better to make the game more complete, the way that Dark Arisen for so many made the game feel more complete. That’s really what I mean.
Sorcerer main since the first game. Spell damage was never an issue, having just one or two spells to rely on for damage 90% of the game is the persistent issue that kills this game for me. 4spells is not enough
You can swap spells at any campsite though. idk- I'm on 11th playthrough and I play warfarer with only my thief pawn. I only switch to sorc for maelstrom to kill talos quickly. This last playthrough my pawn climbed up Talos doing his thing saying "I will get this done for you!" and then it was over so fast. I was like- hey buddy what are you doing up there? Come back down it's over. lol
I really miss the ground targeting, and manual targeting in the magic system, makes strategic gameplay and ambush impossible. Just place thunder mine, spam strongest spell, pray it doesn't randomly auto lock on a dragon's foot. Six spells is the sweet spot, defensive spell, augural flare, each elemental flavor. Gets repetitive with four.
I'm right there with you, Rift. I booted up DD2 yesterday because I was bored and curious about the new patch and I have to be honest I had a blast hopefully we get a DLC announcement soon because this game really deserves better.
i sank 300+ hours into dd2 pre patch and had such a blast, having been a fan of DD1 since launch. The new ignited my love for this game and I’m currently 70+ hours into a whole new playthrough. It feels fresh again and I can only keep my fingers crossed for DLC in the future🤞
I was in the unmoored world and was fighting a chimera when a griffin flew in. The chimera picked me up in his mouth threw me into the air knocking the griffin out of the sky. Or one time when the griffin I had been hunting since day 1 took me from the front gates of the capital after avoiding me for no joke 50 hours all the way to the top of the mountain to its nest battling two griffins from morning until night . Only to try and find my way back down a zombie and ghost infested mountain side on barely any health which then lead to a cave that connected me back to the eleven forest. I have dozens of examples like this. I really think people are throwing the baby out with the bath water with this game. It’s truly one of a kind. Oh and my whole squad is Legolas Gandalf Aragorn and Gimli…. Love this game
Damn you made me want to get this game. I didn’t even buy it considering what people were saying. But I love when unscripted experiences can unfold like this.
@@Kingjames91I have some random encounters on my page. One situation that happened was I JUST got off work and loaded up the game. I found this cool pawn I recruited cuz I normally just do my main pawn and I. Idk what this pwn did to piss off a harpy but one swoops in and throws it off a cliff into the brine. I was caught off guard and laughing so hard I couldn’t even aim straight Another thing happened when I picked up a goblin with telekinesis and threw it but I didn’t know my pawn had an arrow knocked and it was like we were skeet shooting with a goblin. If you give it time I swear this game is hilarious and has moments you will not find anywhere else. These are just the momentary I recorded. Nevermind the drake attacking vernworth on a random Tuesday…
Lots of fun to be had at high lvl too imo! Just have to be creative. Tons of ways to challenge ourselves beyond turning some dials. I do want hard mode. But ultimately speaking, if the conversion doesn’t change from how it was in DDDA, it’ll suffer the same way that game did. Hard mode=easy mode because XP and $ are insane.
Stuff like that cyclops clip has always happened to me even before the patch. Fighting a Minotaur 1 v 1 as an Archer is probably the most fun Ive had in a game. It brought back adrenaline fueling moments I had in DD1.
Battling an ogre deep in a cave with it climbing the walls and drop kicking you from the darkness, clinging to a fleeing Griffin to finish the fight in its layer, and struggling in futility against a Dullahan within an inch of my life only to be saved by the rising sun at the last moment... This game is filled to the brim with moments like this that'll never be seen by 90% of players because of the scaling issues. People have the opportunity to get maybe 1 moment like this per playthrough before they are overleveled to the point of trivializing the whole experience.
@@burninator14 Dunno about being overleveled, but I have a lot of moments like that even when I'm high level... Granted, it was just me and my main pawn, feels like the game is balanced around you and your pawn fully kitted, but bringing two more fully kitted pawn tips the balance over, even more so if your hired pawn has the badge for monsters
@@burninator14 It's really so nice. Like- I still remember the first time my pawn caught me when I was falling off a griffin to my certain death. I was like- whoa!!! No way! Now I just take leaps of faith and still get caught most of the time but definitely not all of the time. lol
I hate how the game isn’t harder because the monsters don’t have enough time to enter their more aggressive phase in which they start using their environment or sheer size to kill you. Like the cyclops throwing its massive club to try to stun you. I guess it could be resolved by using the weakest weapons
@@ineedideaspls6669 idk but I'm lvl 150 and died (from fall damage) yesterday when I got batted off of a steep cliff by an armored cyclops in unmoored world Battahl. I used a wakestone then my thief pawn died after a griffin came to join the fun and I was trying to make my way back up there! Neither my pawn nor I have died in probably the last 7 out of 11 playthroughs. It made me consider hiring pawns again. We'll see how the NG+12 goes. lol
Yeah its hella fun when you're starting out but once you finish your honeymoon phase of leveling game gets kinda one sided. Hopefully they add like a dynamic difficulty like FF7 or a slider to tweak certain things. I want DLC plsss
After the infinite cringe situation you guys could aim your insatisfaction toward official channels from capcom not content creators who just like the game
I think the enemy variety complaint is massively overblown. I agree on the skills though. I think 4 equippable weapon skills would be fine if they round out the kit with more active core skills. Hopefully they do something with that in the DLC.
i actualy have no idea why the game was criticized so much, aside from optimization problems, i had a blast and felt i got my money's worth in fun, there's a much better exploration than in dd1 (love the cart system fast travel is so lame and a lot can happen is so good) and altho there's very few new enemy types, the game got an all around glow up with combat and enemies so fighting them actualy made so many memories come back in a good way. I realy hope this game gets the optimization improvement it deserves and a dlc to spice it up!
It's what happens when a game with a niche fan base hits mainstream, all the people who never played the first game or is a fan of the franchise tries it out and compares it to other mainstream games. People were even calling it a souls like at one point
Same here, I straight up loved the game and can remember only a few times that I wished for something to change. I would like more enemy diversity, but that wasn't even a major concern. I think I also wanted just 1 more port crystal, but they fixed that with the addition of the new one at the one desert city. Oh, I guess there was the massive performance issues I was having, but they fixed that pretty quick
Enemy variety, could use a couple new unique vocations, lack of a hard mode, and it seemed like the story ended just as it was getting interesting sadly. That's pretty much it. Game's still extremely good tho, and it def didn't deserve to get dragged like it was trash.
Problems with this game, have way too lil enemy variety, actually less than the original game, mages can equip only 4 magic, archer n daggers were split up and they worked fine with the 8 skills you could equip, it stunningly beautiful, but the fact you face the same enemy for many hours made me finish this game and not even playing it anymore
Lack of enemy scaling, lack of enemy variety, little to no incentive to explore the environment & arguably a worse story than the first game. Those are some of the reasons it's been heavily criticized by people like me who have played the first dragon's dogma, and were disappointed with the $70 sequel. I know my critic is probably considered toxic here, but looking past the stunning visuals there are a lot of issues with DD2.
@@5lim.0it isn’t about the opness, when you get a really high level and good gear all vocations will easily kill bosses anyways. By this point you will never use magic archer cuz it’s so boring.
The combat is this games strength. My biggest gripe is the campaign which is the main reason I quit. They can only improve things slightly with patches. The fact remains that the campaign is just awful. I stopped playing during my 3rd playthrough but just cannot bring myself to restart that campaign again even through I'd like to further upgrade weapons and gear. Its crazy how they could make the campaign worse than the first game.
Don’t forget the end games is worse than dd1 because with DD1 you had the ever fall and the UR dragon offline and online version but the end game in DD2 is crap for the fact there’s a fog forcing you to go to new game I was hyped for dd2 but played it on release beat the game twice and threw it in my library and left to something else I was disappointed because I expected to throw atleast 5 to 10 years at this game like I did with dd1 I played dd1 from release to 2022 and I stopped because my ps3 died on me if not I still be playing it because I had the berserk guts and Griffith armors
@@Zoretsu Agreed. DD1 is superior in many ways. I used to stay in the post game in DD1 for weeks, getting the resources I wanted. However Capcom in their infinite wisdom decided to time gate that stage in DD2 and then send you back to NG+ and that awful Campaign once more. No thanks.
I bought the game a few months ago (didn’t have the time to play til a few days ago) but I’ve been obsessed with it. Obviously it’s not the greatest game of all time but I can’t even begin to describe how much fun I had in this game, how fresh it feels. This will stick out as a diamond among garbage with how many games come out and aren’t half of what this game delivers. And I already know there are cool things I haven’t even found yet. The story so far? Surprisingly good given how people tend to criticize the story (However, I loo into the story of the previous game + DLC and clearly they had a much greater story, so it’s understandable). I think this story has very much been more than good enough for me. I advise anyone that’s thought about playing or buying the game to do so. It’s worth the full price (of course snag it on a deal if you can, money tends to be tight in real life).
and here they are, everyone already know that. After the infinite cringe situation you guys could aim your insatisfaction toward official channels from capcom not content creators who just like the game
This was a super fun stream rift, I do wonder if you’ll be branching out into different games tho? Stellar blade, Elden ring, etc. great video as always rift
If they really wanted to buff the sorcerer they would lower the cast times, and give sorcerers a parry button with there staff. In other words I shouldn’t have to rely on pawns to play as a sorcerer. That was a problem in dragons dogma one and should have been fixed here.
I reinstalled the game yesterday after watching the stream, and I picked back up on my character as an archer. Man I had a blast. I went out after Medusa and the dragon breath tower which I never explored before and man it felt like a mythical battle.
That first clip man!! It represents the Hole concept of the Game, is so random and funny all can happen in their word, Even using the same path Gorgeous!
Haven’t stopped playing this series since it came out, they know how to make a fun game, yea I’m disappointed MK is gone and that I don’t feel powerful enough either but me and my buddies still have fun in DD2 just waiting for new gear, locations, and max level. But overall still love the game.
I am really glad to see the "casual mode" address a lot of the things that just simply make the game not fun baseline ( which admittedly makes me just wish that was the base game but I digress ). I'm still not completely sold on looking into jumping into DD2 anytime soon but I do hope this is a start to them bringing the game to a point that it should have been from the get-go and then beyond from that. My only other take away here is that your experience in making it a "solo" run isn't the common way to play the game nor really intended by design so perhaps opinions on "trash mobs" and the like seem to have more weight when you're by yourself but with a party I believe they'd still be just that "trash mobs". Other aspects probably aren't too heavily skewed due to the solo run you're doing but overall it comes off as fair. Myself along with many others just want to be cautiously optimistic/skeptical since you can't really erase the past as the game did release as it did and first impressions matter. I LOVE DD1 and even now was probably going to do a fresh run on Steam b/c I got that version recently. So while I'm still not sold on DD2 yet I still continue to love the IP and hope it gets better as time moves on sooner than later. ( even if I don't think DLC should be the answer to making a game "good" or where it should be from the get go but again I digress lol ) In the meantime I'll keep tabs on it through you so keep being a great pillar for the community for the game/IP
This is by far one of the best comment i've read 👍 We can all be skeptical or enjoy the game and gather to watch a rift video ^^ hopefully the DLC brings us more, as everyone would be happy with "more", those who did and didn't like the game alike
I had so much fun with this game when it came out, I get the dissapointment but i think people were too busy grieving over what could have been instead of trying to enjoy the experience, the constant complaining even affected my experience. Whatever the case I hope this game gets the love it deserves in a DLC and we get some news soon, im starting to miss this game
this comment basically sounds like "Don't ask questions, just consume product and then get excited for next product". yeah enjoy the game for aspects that are fun, but you should expect more from a squel and 70$ new game
I can feel you, i hope comments don't stop you from enjoying the game and everyone should be able to enjoy what they like ^^ i'm one of those who did not find enjoyment in my first play through, but that didn't stop me from being happy the game was loved, and to hope the DLC brings us much more We can all enjoy what we like, or let others enjoy what they like 🍻and to all gather in the DLC waiting room
@@ComeInToMadness nowhere in his comment is he saying to mindlessly consume. Like holy shit judging a game harshly because it wasn’t an exact copy of the original is obviously unfair to the game, that’s not consumerism.
The clutch win early game is real tbh, that why I think Batthal was hated so much, you both got so strong that most encounter are a breeze or really fast, not strong enough and you get "unfairly" wiped out, and most probably unprepared because you are rushing through the zone because at this stage most encounter dont seem like a problem, until low stamina, heavy weight and damage sustained suddenly make you more frail than you expected. Tbh, for my part, that's why I love the game. But as some few people pointed out : more ennemy variety would be great...
Love this game. I might as well try trickster! I pretty much just offer support to my thief pawn anyway. :) I currently have 11 godsbane blades stacked and I'm almost ready to leave unmoored since I'm pretty sure that I killed everything there is to kill. This last playthrough I carried a staff, and a magic bow, and daggers. I never even equip magic archer skills I just shoot stuff in the air without any skills attached. I used smokeshroud a lot to take enemies out of battle stance so my pawn's augment kicks in- frigor to mainly knock annoying saurons in the air for my pawn to hit the weakspot, empyreon for undead at night and unmoored world where undead is everywhere, and celerity for more attack speed. Oh and I usually carry a couple books to silence dullahan and drakes.
we really need to push the devs to add more skill slots, that alone would make the game 2 times better, oh also, they need to bring mystic knight back, cmon man 🙏
The only other game I binge played like this before was Cyberpunk 2077. If Dragon's Dogma could have these fight mechanics, the same exploration but with the quest lines and level of character lore that Cyberpunk 2077 had, that would be peak immersion and enjoyment
I've been playing DD2 consistently since I got it this summer and can say as a genuine testimonial (ie. no involvement in the social media drama surrounding its release, paid for none of the DLC, all purely from the playtime committed to Dark Arisen) this is the most fun I've had with an action RPG in a long time. ... Oh, and having the luxury of modding on the PC version might've had something to do with it too.
I love this game, played it for months since it came out, but needed to take a break for a couple of months to recover from a couple of illnesses (I get motion sick when playing games if I have the flu, that and a dislocated shoulder, yaaaaay), but I've picked it up again recently and it's pretty much taken over my life. It truly is addictive gameplay, I know I've mentioned a few pet peeves about the game a while back, what I thought it lacked, but still, it's an awesome experience anyway, and pretty much is my favourite game along with the first game. These two tie for first, while Skyrim and Frontiers of Pandora tie for second. The quality of life changes definitely help, I like it that I can hoard more items. I haven't tried casual mode yet, I might set up another profile on my PS5 and give it a go with a fresh character. I love the challenge of the standard mode and look forward to a future hard mode if they ever implement one. I don't think I've seen a Cyclops yeet its club like that, hilarious. I love how this game is still full of surprises. Thanks for doing a showcase of casual mode, it's nice to see how it all works.
this game is one of my favorites and stood by it from the beginning unlike most. this game shows that those with a lot of power to destroy big city ending monsters can still get killed by the crafty goblins.
By not running pawns you give up a bunch of potentially interesting combat interactions. It would be better if the game was just balanced better so people could enjoy the challenge while also having fun with pawns.
@@JF-vz1ju I agree completely, but also, running without them creates its own different scenarios that are also incredibly compelling situations of survival.
I do this but opposite your strategy. My thief pawn does most of the hard work and I just do whatever with warfarer. I feel like I'm just the support staff this time around. I carry a staff but he has pots and formless feint so doesn't need me healing very much.
Still waiting for a major expansion/overhaul. So sick of modern gaming releasing buggy/broken games that don’t work out the box like they should, and take months to fix. 🙄
Thank you for staying so positive in spite of the disappointment Capcom left us with at this year's TGS. I see so much hate and vitriol in comments on other videos and reddit about Casual Mode, but here you've proven that it's just Quality of Life mode with some much needed game balancing for fresh New Game runs. My response to the toxic complaints in the community about no Hard Mode is simple: play as Trickster solo with no pawns. There's your hard mode built into the game since release. Have at it.
Yeah. That isn't fun. My pawns died somehow just after switching to lvl 1 trickster. The only pawn I had was 100% a healer and her little staff zapper was barely hurting the bahthal enemies. It took so long just to kill a few goblins. That said, 3 pawns is easy mode at lvl 50+. Drop a pawn or two or even three and most classes are gonna have a more challenging time.
That isn't hard mode and it doesn't solve anything, "toxic complaints", funny that you say that where I see toxic and blind fanatism here with 0 constructive thinking. 🤦♂ There's a lot of ways in which the game could be improved, adding a hard mode doesn't hurt anyone, at the contrary it would please more people, there's a lot of people who likes a challenge without any gimmicky solutions like the one you're giving and it would add replayability to the game if for example the first time you finish it on normal or casual and want something new that puts your skills to the test.
@@eloverlord96 Trickster solo is not gimmicky, it's a core game feature. Don't knock it till you try it. They allow you to travel the world solo, and trickster adds significant challenge without pawns. I'm not against them adding a Hard Mode, but for now, sometimes you have to come up with your own solutions if the developers won't (or has yet to) give you exactly what you want.
@@eloverlord96stfu dude just enough. Ffs just stop playing it and move on to other games if you're this dissatisfied. The game obviously seems like it's not for everyone. People expect too much out of it. It's already fun and yet people still want to insist it isn't because "muh 8 skills" or enemy varieties or whatever the heck their npc brains are being told to not like about it. Go away dude. You're the one without constructive thinking.
Bro finally hit Acceptance on the 5 stages of grief with the mess that was Dragon's Dogma 2 and no DLC announcement I have 72hours in dd2 its not like there isnt fun to be had. its just not a good squel to dd;da. I'm not even sure I could think of anything that's actually a big upgrade from the 1st game
Visuals probably the main thing I don't enjoy DD2 fully and even i can only bow to how gorgeous it looks Sure DDDA was also gorgeous but it wasn't graphisms, it was the artistic direction they took Animations also look smooth, although they are "slower" than the previous games, which personally i didn't mind because i enjoy a slow paced combat in RPGs, but definitely feels less "arcade" as a lot pointed It has some qualities here and there, camping is a nice feature IMO, wish they improved it further And climbing is immensely more fun, from flying across the map on a griffin to walking on a downed cyclope to bonk his head is pretty fancy In the end, depends on individuals, not everyone likes everything ^^ hopefully with the DLC and mods coming together everyone can find their own fun in the game, and if not : DDON private server and DDDA mods are amazing, defo recommend
@@MrPistoleroGun feeling less "arcade" like is probably my biggest issue with the game. It feels like it's trying to be a tech demo for the physics system and sacrificing the gameplay for some pitiful attempt at immersion, instead of being a video game.
What a strange feeling that the game is growing better since his creator left. Hope they fix the double pawn issue (when you start another run on your profile your old pawn won't be removed) and they add a hard mode for ng+ers
I’ve been replaying the game as well recently and I made a realize the game is perfectly balanced for your first playthrough like it’s really good your struggling at time and battles are really impactful at lower levers once you go the the true ending once there is almost nothing that can stop you going forward games needs a hard mode that’s all and maybe a BBI dlc
My two cents...I was never concerned over the addition to a "casual mode." This is Dragon's Dogma, NOT Dark Souls. Its Fantasy Action. When I heard of the casual mode, I thought that it could be a good addition, depending how it was implemented. Seems like it was implemented well & with thought.
The first game was compared to Dark Souls for slightly different reasons than what the term soulslike now refers to. Difficulty was a part of that, especially when Bitterblack Isle came out. But, it was just a somewhat hardcore niche third person Japanese rpg where you fought oversized monsters. That’s where the comparison came from. I don’t see anybody now asking for the second game to be turned into a hardcore only experience. But, if you figure out how the game works, it is waaayyyyy too easy to get ridiculously overpowered. On top of that, there is no difficulty increase for NG+. Really, few reasons to even play NG+. For many people, games become un-fun when they lose their challenge completely. If someone wants to play a casual mode and just experience the story and the core rpg features, that’s great. I am all for that! But, a large portion of people playing this game would benefit immensely from a more difficult mode. So, is it wrong to ask for? It’s extra strange, too, because half of it is set up like a hardcore game, yet the other half is quite the opposite. Like, a bunch of hardcore survival and traversal oriented stuff, to go with these really deep combat systems that seem like they should be deep dived into, yet they become trivialized half the way through that process. We had had to kick and scream to get more difficult content in the first game, and now it’s been the same with this. It just takes away so much replay-ability. Adding a hard mode would be a relatively minor thing, yet it would open up the game so much more for so many people. I’m still all down for a casual mode. So, I’m not giving you a hard time or anything.
The “casual mode” in the case just sounds like a rebalance that makes the game less tedious when it comes to the economy and traversal. The combat is the same
When the skies comes clear, the sunbeams touch the first clouds and make the scenario brighter, then the Dragons Dogma players arise again, exhausted from toxicity and ready to take on fights again(And throw pawns into the ocean and boulders specially the Rook). Final Fantasy X - Silence Before the Storm, the track that represents the state of the game( In this case After the Storm)
tbh at the beginning yes the fights are nice balanced, but for someone who finished the game "real" new game+ hardmode would be nice with some kind of reward systemm implemented like unique loot or gear you only can get in hard mode. for now it has less content then base DD1 less enemies, less weapons, less armor. the merchants are making the exploration really boring you can buy all armors/weapons from the merchants somewher(at least almost all)
I plan on starting a new playthrough as well, although I only got about halfway through the main game when it released and stopped playing for a few months. Even on day one I can say that starting as an archer (as I did) was an absolute blast, I might try to go for warrior asap on a new character especially after the updates with this patch. I felt let down after hoping to recapture that magic I felt with the first game but maybe I just need to give dd2 some more chances and force myself to try more things with different playstyles. Thanks for keeping it real and admitting that you changed your mind on some things with the game👌
I noticed a strange thing after the last update in both easy and normal mode when you go to select the difficulty, the writing 2 unearnable trophies appears underneath. strange but if I'm not in normal mode you can earn how do you know they're preparing the hard mode or even a dlc in secret what do you think the doubt only comes to me?
Interesting to see you’re starting a new game because literally the day before watching this, I did the same thing. On my original file, I’d completed the game and the unmoored world and was maybe 10-15% through a ng+ but just wasn’t getting into it. I knew a big part of why I wasn’t getting into it was because DD2 just doesn’t have much to keep you going after completing the game. No hard mode and still no DLC makes it to where a completed file just isn’t much fun. Taking out low level enemies when you’re level 60+ just isn’t engaging (thought the same thing when watching Nihil’s video the other day.) I was aware of that as an issue and kept wanting to just start a new game so I could re-live the magic of starting out fresh - but I kept talking myself out of it thinking “well if they drop a DLC, I’d want my completed file to be ready.”… finally came to the decision that hanging onto my original file is holding me back from enjoying the game, and that if I started a new file now, it’s just as likely that I’ll have reached the level I was in my first file by the time we get a DLC or hard mode. Been having a super fun on my new game and am actively looking forward to getting back to it every day as opposed to just going through the motions like I was before.
It’s interesting to see some of this perspective on Casual mode, but I hope this isn’t a way to make the normal mode seem like hard mode. Just started a fresh playthrough after taking a break for a few months, it’s good to be back. Performance definitely seems better
I just hope Capcom gives this game the attention it deserves, dragons dogma could EASILY be the next skyrim if they would only listen to player feedback and give us quality content and and new enemies to fight. Sadly I think dragons dogma is going to get compeletly forgotten since MH wilds is going to be so monumentally successful that Capcom will never even look at dragons dogma ever again
We can still hope I think capcom's MH team is already a team of pros who know what they are doing, they don't NEED the DD2 team to back them up World was already insane, they just need that level of competence Meanwhile the new director for DD2 is the guy who made dark arisen, he's proven he can cook ^^ we can hope !!! And if not, the best we could hope for then is that they delay DD2's dlc until wilds is done fixing major things, afterward they'll need less of a team
@@MrPistoleroGun I kind of wish he was the director for DD2 from the beginning. It almost seems like Itsuno hated the changes that Dark Arisen made to the original and went out of his way to undo them with DD2.
You don't need to go into your inventory to heal or recover stamina.... Don't hide the controls into HUD display if you don't know them to begin with. Hide that later, when you know everything by heart
I started dd2 like a week ago, I end the main story twice. I have a question though: are they gonna add more vocations in the future? (I really hope that)
If you start a playthrough in casual mode, if you switch back to normal does it put you back at the beginning of the game similar to how it was going from hard mode to normal in dd1?
Odd question, but how do you get your game to look like this? Is this base-game graphics, or are you using mods to change the color-grading? Would love a video from you on how to get my game to look like yours!
I need help here. I want to play a medieval fantasy game. Unfortunately, most are RPGs, my kryptonite as a gamer. Inventory management is not only something I don’t like, but I’m not good at. I hear all about baldurs gate 3, and how it’s goty and such. But then I also see the turn based combat and it has me worried. Should I roll with dragons dogma 2 instead? It looks like more up my alley as far as more action oriented, faster paced combat. If the combat is fun, inventory management becomes easier for me. But then again, I love a good story too, and I hear that’s where baldurs gate 3 really shines. For a gamer like me, would baldurs gate have enough elsewhere to make the combat bearable? Or is dragons dogma 2 the one I’m looking for?
Still playing my launch save and just hit 233. Combat Difficulty Tweaks mod is a must for max level, else you just oneshot things. I actually died yesterday: took out two armored cyclops after a wild fight, then two more spawned as a cart ambush. I was fighting those two when a griffin divebombed us and killed me and one of the pawns. Battahl at night is a bitch with difficulty mods. I tweaked GPU settings a lot after the patch and am consistently over 100fps in Vermund. DLSS and Frame Gen are insane for this game now. Game changer on PC.
I've also played since launch. I'm lvl 150 (ps5 player) and actually died yesterday to an armored cyclops in Battahl unmoored world. It batted me off a cliff right as a griffin came to join the fun. Then my thief pawn died while I was making my way back up to the action. I haven't died in probably my last 8 playthroughs and pretty sure my pawn hasn't either. But I was batted of a cliff like I was a baseball or something- so maybe it shouldn't count. :D This experience made me consider hiring pawns again. edit: ( I always liked the game mechanic that allows pawns bring me the dead ones over for revival.)
Definitely a good update, optimization feels patched and it’s easier for newer players. Played for a couple sessions and noticed newer animations and QoL fixes. The core gameplay of DD2 is still fun. The only criticism I got is that this really should’ve been in the game day 1 or the update should’ve been at least a month from release. But will give them props for at least improving the game. Guess for now I’m still waiting for an update for enemy variations, hard mode, or dlc.
Mr. The Rift. My First Playthrough in both DD1 & DD2 was as a Sorcerer and I only had my Main Pawn(Fighter). I simply liked the theme of a Dynamic Duo, a Magic Wielder and a Melee Fighter. I played it on release and I experienced the "hell" you're experiencing in Battahl.... especially against Hobs. It was challenging but not in the way you're thinking. You see... I actually had to use my "Consumables" and keep track of my Gold. Every small journey required some preparation. And although I don't recommend anyone doing this on their first playthrough for DD2. But I have to add, that even with my Main Pawn, it wasn't that hard. Rather it offered the expected amount of challenge you should have from a game like this. And just to clarify once again, this was on release. Long before the Casual Mode and what not.
Ive just finished both games back to back. I love them both and appreciate their differences. Whatever they couldve been, im glad they came to be as they are
I won't even try casual until i know for sure if we get a hard mode if it is compatible with casual... since once you switch into casual mode you can't switch back to normal mode (locking you out of 2 achievements as well) without deleting the entire file
this video made me remember the first 20h of DD2 were SO freaking good, the 30th to 40th hour were okayish good the last 15h I had in the game weren't that fun because of how we as the players get stronger WAY more than the enemies as we progress I never died except maybe 2 to 5 times (and at least 1 of them was because I slipped and died lol) after the 30th hour mark, compared to over 15-20 deaths in the first 20h because I had to play smart, I had to use my brain and skills I really hope whenever we got a DLC it will be hard for the whole play through and not just its start, maybe even gets progressively harder as you play it tbh I am still not welling to play the game, I got the sour taste in my mouth from the lack of content and bad difficulty curve but I gained the hope and motivation again to pick the game up again whenever the DLC releases/a bit earlier and create a new character
I just want more enemy variety, increased reason for lvl 999 lvl cap, more skills slots for classes, higher difficulty mode, large increase to fps, make the story make more sense, make new game plus items like infinite ferry stone, allow higher lvl pawns to be summoned by lower lvl players, maybe lower their stats to match a lower lvl arisen option?
If they could let us have Two Vacations by just pressing a certain button to switch over would be amazing. I only put 88hrs into the game after it got to easy. Love my Sword/Shield but want a Bow too. All they have to do with more Monsters is combine Two different ones in One with Both Attack styles would Help. A Endless Dungeon is something we all want
I can only hope that when the DLC comes out, it will be all that and more the same way Dark Arisen was for the first game. 🙏😭
Bruh, I hope it won't be the SAME way as Dark Arisen... Dark Arisen never was a DLC after all...
@@Smexbi Not the same, but even better to make the game more complete, the way that Dark Arisen for so many made the game feel more complete. That’s really what I mean.

It was not trash it was the Pinnacle of Gaming @@Bartacolips
Sorcerer main since the first game. Spell damage was never an issue, having just one or two spells to rely on for damage 90% of the game is the persistent issue that kills this game for me. 4spells is not enough
Also where is gicel brontide etc those spells were so cool.
Yea it also kills their vision for WeaponMaster class.
Always use the extra skill bar mod.

At low level, it’s the funnest gameplay experience ive had
Also, if you turn off the mini map and just explore the world, it’s very well crafted and fun to just be in
Lots of fun to be had at high lvl too imo!

@@ToliG123seen some run around with no armor and no upgraded weapons 😅
Stuff like that cyclops clip has always happened to me even before the patch. Fighting a Minotaur 1 v 1 as an Archer is probably the most fun Ive had in a game. It brought back adrenaline fueling moments I had in DD1.
Really?
Side note, did the monsters start attacking faster in the last update after they added a casual mode? Or am I just Tweaking
Play without pawns. Much more challenging. I'm doing a honor run where death equals delete save file. So damn intense and I'm barely at early game
Reducing your pawns is the difficulty level
@@ineedideaspls6669 idk but I'm lvl 150 and died (from fall damage) yesterday when I got batted off of a steep cliff by an armored cyclops in unmoored world Battahl. I never knew Cyclops can throw their clubs like that 😮.
In DD I had the one at the crossroads pick up an explosive barrel and nail me, never laughed so hard at any other death...
The game still lacks a lot of enemy variety and skills for vocations. Also, 4 equipped skills per vocation is not enough.
enemy variety is its biggest flaw imo

@@destinoo1792that’s extreme bro, people should have the right to critique or be positive anywhere. Toxic positivity is as bad as toxic negativity
I'll keep asking for a skill switch button that we can equip 8-12 skills. Magic archer would benefit from archer kicks, sliding and jump kick.
Magic archer is already too OP without movement

In the meantime I'll keep tabs on it through you so keep being a great pillar for the community for the game/IP

I love group Combat, the Combos are awesome.
People finally coming around to what I knew all along. I am always right. Trickster is the best class btw
Oh and I usually carry a couple books to silence dullahan and drakes.
we really need to push the devs to add more skill slots, that alone would make the game 2 times better, oh also, they need to bring mystic knight back, cmon man 🙏
Yup or at least have more equiped
There is so much you can randomly discover in this game 10/10 Skyrim level experience when given the the chance imo
Glad you’re having fun!!! And yeah imo the game was always fun just plagued with performance issues. It always had a fun combat system.
Wait, how did yall play your first time around? The gane was always fun to play
Stagger time is still a huge issue. I think it just makes things slower and not that fun. Hope they change it someday
I don't give anybody credit for saying the endgame is too easy if they are still running 3 pawns. Run one or zero pawns and then you have a case.
I love playing mostly alone to add the extra little difficulty to it. I mainly just keep my pawn only so that she can heal me & that’s it
I do this but opposite your strategy.
There's a lot of ways in which the game could be improved, adding a hard mode doesn't hurt anyone, at the contrary it would please more people, there's a lot of people who likes a challenge without any gimmicky solutions like the one you're giving and it would add replayability to the game if for example the first time you finish it on normal or casual and want something new that puts your skills to the test.
@@eloverlord96 Trickster solo is not gimmicky, it's a core game feature. Don't knock it till you try it. Visuals probably the main thing
I don't enjoy DD2 fully and even i can only bow to how gorgeous it looks
Sure DDDA was also gorgeous but it wasn't graphisms, it was the artistic direction they took
Animations also look smooth, although they are "slower" than the previous games, which personally i didn't mind because i enjoy a slow paced combat in RPGs, but definitely feels less "arcade" as a lot pointed
It has some qualities here and there, camping is a nice feature IMO, wish they improved it further
And climbing is immensely more fun, from flying across the map on a griffin to walking on a downed cyclope to bonk his head is pretty fancy
In the end, depends on individuals, not everyone likes everything ^^ hopefully with the DLC and mods coming together everyone can find their own fun in the game, and if not : DDON private server and DDDA mods are amazing, defo recommend
@@MrPistoleroGun feeling less "arcade" like is probably my biggest issue with the game. It feels like it's trying to be a tech demo for the physics system and sacrificing the gameplay for some pitiful attempt at immersion, instead of being a video game.

The combat is the same
Me buying like 100 ferrystone in pre patch: im a joke to you ?
I really enjoyed this game when it came out. The best part was the secret ending area. Magicka archer mains ftw.
That club to the face was unexpected lol
When the skies comes clear, the sunbeams touch the first clouds and make the scenario brighter, then the Dragons Dogma players arise again, exhausted from toxicity and ready to take on fights again(And throw pawns into the ocean and boulders specially the Rook).
Final Fantasy X - Silence Before the Storm, the track that represents the state of the game( In this case After the Storm)
tbh at the beginning yes the fights are nice balanced, but for someone who finished the game "real" new game+ hardmode would be nice with some kind of reward systemm implemented like unique loot or gear you only can get in hard mode. for now it has less content then base DD1 less enemies, less weapons, less armor. the merchants are making the exploration really boring you can buy all armors/weapons from the merchants somewher(at least almost all)
Did the original DD ship with a hard mode? I bought the game at launch in 2012, but honestly, I can't remember.
@@AntiLifeEquation1 no so it is still hope we will get one
Taking out low level enemies when you’re level 60+ just isn’t engaging (thought the same thing when watching Nihil’s video the other day.)
I was aware of that as an issue and kept wanting to just start a new game so I could re-live the magic of starting out fresh - but I kept talking myself out of it thinking “well if they drop a DLC, I’d want my completed file to be ready.”… finally came to the decision that hanging onto my original file is holding me back from enjoying the game, and that if I started a new file now, it’s just as likely that I’ll have reached the level I was in my first file by the time we get a DLC or hard mode.
Been having a super fun on my new game and am actively looking forward to getting back to it every day as opposed to just going through the motions like I was before.
Lol yeah. The cyclops had always been able to do that, but it's actually kinda rare.
9:35 Which merchant offer that much quantity of products?
Even in normal mode the game just feels better after the patch I'm having a blast playing it again
We can still hope
I think capcom's MH team is already a team of pros who know what they are doing, they don't NEED the DD2 team to back them up
World was already insane, they just need that level of competence
Meanwhile the new director for DD2 is the guy who made dark arisen, he's proven he can cook ^^ we can hope !!!
Glad you having fun lol hopefully DLC soon 🙏🏽
Hey, I've wanted to ask you what kind of reshade or mod do you use as I see the image/colors of the game are super crisp and well saturated? Thanks!
Hey man, l'm using clear reshade
@@The_Rift thank you!
Does it have 6 skills or five and have some tuned to core moves?
You don't need to go into your inventory to heal or recover stamina.... Don't hide the controls into HUD display if you don't know them to begin with. Hide that later, when you know everything by heart
I started dd2 like a week ago, I end the main story twice. I have a question though: are they gonna add more vocations in the future? (I really hope that)
07:35 Mum look, I'm in The Rift video! 😎
Love Mighty Melvo streams.❤ Thanks for giving him the shout out @Rift.😘🇬🇧
If you start a playthrough in casual mode, if you switch back to normal does it put you back at the beginning of the game similar to how it was going from hard mode to normal in dd1?
When you switch to casual mode, you cannot switch back until you have finished the game
@@The_Rift wow thanks for the heads up, are there any real downsides to it then?
@@cloudbloom cheers, yeah you get locked out of two trophies from what i know
Did I see that right? Were there portcrystals for sale?
I just bought DD2 on sale today but I’m going to hold off starting it until my PS5 pro shows up in November
did they add a harder difficulty yet?
Or is dragons dogma 2 the one I’m looking for?
dd2 early game is one of the best gaming experiences imo. It kinda loses it in the 2nd half tho.
I played at launch and it was a mess. I can't wait to jump back in when I get my PS5 PRO
DD2 Pathtracing mod is an absolute beauty ❤️❤️❤️
Sorcerer, master of elemental magics: I cast... BARREL
Maaan this game is awesome, iv been playing for a few weeks and it's been a blast.
Mr.
I'm actually excited to play as a Wizard in this game.
Ive just finished both games back to back. I love them both and appreciate their differences. Whatever they couldve been, im glad they came to be as they are
I still love 1 more tan most games. It’s 2 on my list to be honest, Dragons Dogma 2 is still so much fun and I’m loving it more and more
I won't even try casual until i know for sure if we get a hard mode if it is compatible with casual... since once you switch into casual mode you can't switch back to normal mode (locking you out of 2 achievements as well) without deleting the entire file
Boosteroid's cloud saves ensure I never lose my progress
Sorcerer/ Mage already have levitate just make it he can do a fast levitate backward, sideways while incanting when quickly double tapping jump.
Game need more enemies and bosses and vocation. Cant believe they cant grab most of the contents from dd online.
That would cost too much. This game was made to help fund the next Monster Hunter.
this video made me remember
the first 20h of DD2 were SO freaking good, the 30th to 40th hour were okayish good
the last 15h I had in the game weren't that fun
because of how we as the players get stronger WAY more than the enemies as we progress
I never died except maybe 2 to 5 times (and at least 1 of them was because I slipped and died lol) after the 30th hour mark, compared to over 15-20 deaths in the first 20h because I had to play smart, I had to use my brain and skills
I really hope whenever we got a DLC it will be hard for the whole play through and not just its start, maybe even gets progressively harder as you play it
tbh I am still not welling to play the game, I got the sour taste in my mouth from the lack of content and bad difficulty curve but I gained the hope and motivation again to pick the game up again whenever the DLC releases/a bit earlier and create a new character
I just want more enemy variety, increased reason for lvl 999 lvl cap, more skills slots for classes, higher difficulty mode, large increase to fps, make the story make more sense, make new game plus items like infinite ferry stone, allow higher lvl pawns to be summoned by lower lvl players, maybe lower their stats to match a lower lvl arisen option?
bought this game last Nov 11 and im already clocking at 93hours... this game is so good
If they could let us have Two Vacations by just pressing a certain button to switch over would be amazing. I only put 88hrs into the game after it got to easy. Love my Sword/Shield but want a Bow too. All they have to do with more Monsters is combine Two different ones in One with Both Attack styles would Help. A Endless Dungeon is something we all want
