Just a heads-up to people who haven't played DD1, the starter vocations aren't weaker than the advanced ones. They're all equal in power, at least it's intended that way
I think you will need to be quite good at the game for it to be worth going with any hybrid classes, looks like the base classes will be much easier to keep alive, thief archer and fighter will probably be the easiest to play.
As someone who mained Strider in DDDA from start to finish, it is FAR from being weak. It looks like in DD2, they're actually juicing up the starter vocations even more (since thief is just both assassin and strider without the bow). I'm hoping they give the Fighter a lot of the mystic knight's kit.
This is what I wanted to do but question is anyone knows. The spearhand is a fighter/magic, the thief is non of those. Does that matter? AM I starting over when i switch to spearhand or does the starting vocation not matter for the later vocations? My thought was, for example, if i want to play the warrior i start as the fighter and what I level up there transfers to the warrior. Whereas if I started archer and then went to warrior nothing would transfer and I would basically be starting over?
I think some stats will transfer like your strength points if you move from fighter to warrior.. But not all. Eitherways it should still be fine. Just more grinding
Well if stats same as last game thief would be assassin which got +6 strength and +2 magic. Warrior got +4 strength +3 magic. So warrior would be better cuz spear is mixed but I think I'll go archer for +3 +3 and higher max stamina for more combo chains xD if it is the same as dd1
Archer combat looks amazing and flashy and it’s top of my list too… but I would be lying if I said I couldn’t still change my mind on the day 😂 everything looks so damn good!
@CarlWByrne bro, I'm sure I'm gonna max everything. Every class looks fun to play even fighter looks cool, and I'm not the type of guy to play the "tank"

I hope they add MK at a later date, was my main, and was hoping to play it again with new skills. Personally, I have no interest in MS, not my playstyle, so was sad that it seems to have replaced MK.

warfarer for sure. I always like the idea of never being truely disadvantaged in a situation, being able to swap toa different approach at one loses effectiveness. I'm definatly using a archstaff with my build to deliver super powerful spells when the baddies are down but i'll need to see how the other weapons work to decide if I want to use daggers, greatsword, duo spear and which bow in order to actually bring them down in the first place.
I’m definitely starting as a thief. After that, I might dabble in spearhand and warrior, and when I feel like I have a good grasp on a few weapons, I’m going warfarer. I might even learn trickster just so I have access to a more passive style
You're channel used to be in my feed all the time. And I was grateful. Really good content. Then one day, YT just stopped recommending your videos. And I have no idea why. IMO Arrekz's content is what FextraLife's pretends to be. Fully thought out builds and guides based on deep understanding of the mechanics. Not just long videos cranked out ASAP. I really do think Arrekz should be a cornerstone of the gaming community.
Sadly those haven't been announced. people think MAYBE they will be there, or added later, but nothing has been confirmed other than "these are the 10 vocations available." Nobody knows if that means available currently with more to come, or if this is all we get until DLC (maybe), or if we aren't getting more at all
advanced vocations are supposed to change the role and playstyle. The Thief is basically already an assassin archtype, and an archer is an archer; what would they change exactly? Instead of an advanced class, you just get better skills as you level up.
I just….can’t…wait….anymore!! March 22nd needs to hurry up already!! On another note, this is such a familiar vibe to when I first found this channel. I found this when Monster Hunter World came out and Dragon’s Dogma II has that same feel. Loving the content.
Just a heads up that the “starter” vocations aren’t “starter” in terms of power. They’re very much classes that are just as strong as the advanced and hybrid classes, the advanced and hybrid classes are just harder to play. The Fighter isn’t inferior to the warrior. Hell in DD1, the Strider was one of the strongest classes in the game as opposed to its Ranger, Magick Archer and Assassin counterparts which is why they broke it up into Thief and Archer for this game lol
I hope the warfarer has access to more than 3 total skills at a time. If you can essentially just have one skill from each vocation you have chosen to mix I dont think it will be very effective. Especially since you them wont have the core skill that supports those weapon skills either
Gotta be warfarer for me. Teleport with mystic hand, Plant bomb with thief, Jump then use archer/magick archer skills. So many awesome combinations. Lower stat handicap is also a plus for me for that added challenge.
I believe the trickster vocation will be unlocked once you beat the UR dragon. All hybrid vocation are either magic/archer or knight/magic. The purple and pink icon makes me think it’s one of these classes that will get unlocked for ng+
Anyone know how players are imbuing their weapons with elemental glow/damage? Is it a skill specific to a class? An augment? A consumable? Or a reusable?
I'm still set on the warfarer vocation. The only thing I wanna know about it is who and to talk to to unlock the vocation and where the NPC is located.
Mystic Spearhed is probably going to be my main class, but if they manage to make Trickster viable and fun to play as an illusionist/manipulator that sounds incredible.
Because it already is that. It starts out as a mobile damage dealer. The advanced vocations of Warrior and Sorcerer change the play style from defensive/buff oriented to offensive, an assassin is the same as their version of the thief
I plan on ranking up every vocation to unlock every skill and augment, then play the rest of the game as a Warfarer. Atm, I think I'd use the weapons and skills of a Mystic Spearhand for melee, a Magic Archer for range, and either a Mage or Trickster for supporting my Pawns, but definitely a very magic focused build. Tho, once I see how each vocation plays out, that may change EDIT: So apparently, Warfarer will rank up all vocations at the same time. All the more reason to main it
In DD1 i was using the Assassin, loved the combination of Fighter and Strider. Mostly used Sword and Bow in combination. But with that being not a thing in DD2 but instead some new things like the Trickster and the Spearhand, but also the Warfarer, things get a bit more interesting. Especially since the Strider got split up in Archer and Thief. Now i'm thinking about picking Ranger for myself and maybe Thief for my own Pawn and then add a Fighter/Warrior and a Mage by hiring other pawns to fill out my group with every Class-Archetype. But in the End i want to try and get the Warfarer Vocation to mix the Archer with Trickster and maybe Spearhand or something different like Sorcerer or even Magick Archer. But i'll definetly check out Spearhand and Trickster as soon as possible and see what they are like to play and if they are actually fun to me. Based on that my choice for Warfarer changes.
I think I'm going to go Trickster for the first playthrough. It's new and different, while also allowing for some creativity. Yeah, it doesn't look like it does a lot of damage, but there are some very interesting things it can do that may be better than just outright damage.
Starter vocations aren’t weaker than advanced they just play different. Advanced sacrifice healing and defence to be purely damage focused so you’ll need a pawn to tank and heal for you. It’s just depends on how you want to play.
So is Ranger not a vocation in this game? Been avoiding coverage as I don’t really want any spoilers. If it isn’t in the game is archer able to use longbows, or are they also not in this game?

Rocking the trickster, but no idea what I’m going to start with or what my pawn will be. I feel like I can “tank” with the trickster, so maybe a thief, mage/sorcerer and warrior? Only a few more days until I know for sure!
Waiting for the "remove vocation lock" mod, so I can run all weapons armor without manually switching vocations. Makes the game a million times better. Best way to play the original
Probably start Archer, try Trickster, and end up on Wayfarer just so I have options. After all the new vocations means Strider is now split between Thief and Archer neither having an advanced vocation. Magick Archer no longer has staff or daggers. Mystic Spearman looks like it lacks real Magic Damage (could be wrong but his Magic seems to be throwing physical objects), and Trickster will need damage in general. Might settle on either Sword/Bow/Staff or Spear/Bow/Censer Wayfarer.
Thank you Paradise. Can you please explain about the discipline points? Is this something you acquire as your vocation level rises or does it acquire independently? So, if it is independent, it seems this game has character level, vocation level and discipline point experience system? Please let me know as I would like to provide accurate info to my channel viewers. Thank you so much!
You get discipline points for using a class, its independent from your vocation level but they go up at the same time. Then you have your overall character level which is completely independent of vocations and keeps going up no matter if you switch vocations ornjotn
So on PC should i play with a controller? for Monster Hunter i use mouse and keyboard for bow and bowguns etc so im wondering if i should do similar with DD2?
