I'm absolutely on your side. I love UYA Especially because I remember great times playing the multiplayer with my sister (Even through Deadlock is because of that Higher Up for me then UYA). In Point of the Jokes i loved the first 2 entries more. The first nails it more showing how Evil Drak is even through how incompetent he is with charisma. The second makes the bad guys (The Stranglers (I really love the german name "Halsabschneider" much more) look like the only real Good guys. Mega Corp is definitely evil with or without Quark as leader.
Nefarius is not Evil Funny, He is funny because of his ticks. And Everyone loves the sarcastic butler. This is the game who made quark to nearly my favorite... "Not the Hero" and I'm really sad with what they did to him after Deadlock. I love the vehicles, but I missed the shipsections of 2.
I played going commando after UYA even with that going commando didn't feel like going a step back more like the better combination of the mechanics.

Yeah, don't get me wrong I love the entire original trilogy, but I do think Up Your Arsenal is overrated for what it is, it's still a good game, but it's definitely not the best R&C game.

While R&C3 has some good things going on with it, it's still is not the best (imo) from the trilogy.
This doesn't mean that the video itself is mediocre, it's GREAT as always Arcaedon, good job!! 😎

Tbh - I kinda agree with the protopet being more underwhelming than nefarious... and I'm a huge GC fan... I can even summarize the few things I think UYA did better than GC... I those being: gadget autoequip, last boss fight, vendor ammo refill and the extra quickslot wheel...
But those are all mechanical advancements in my eyes - speaking on the writing specifically - I think the quark and nefarious were fun, but outside of 1 or 2 nefarious scenes I actually prefered quark talking outa his arse in a mr fizzwidget suit... Everytime I go back to the triology, I just can't stop quoting the guy... my favorite line is prolly "I've uploaded the condiments to your naval computer" + lawrence kinda carried nefarious' antics imo
And let's be honest, the writing in both those games left stuff to be desired - GC definitely felt like it was cut short and mr fizzwidget being let off like he is feels really outa left field with how his company was build up in the story... And in terms of UYA, nefarious motives being that of racism just seems intensely tonedeaf if we are to believe the backstory that the game itself is trying to tell us (through the quark vid comics - and yes, I recognise that they were made one big joke of basically, even in it's own writing, but nefarious being born a lifeform was never a part that was actively questioned and feels like cannon within it's representation)

You know, despite my love for this series, I've never seen footage of the first three side by side. It's amazing how good the planets look in 2 & 3 compared to the basic as design here.
Never noticed how good the lighting was in the first two.
    Bravo Arcaedon.

Fantastic review man! I myself have fallen abit away from UYA. I do love it, especially since it was my first RAC game and i played it to death back in the days. The humor is seriosly top notch and some of the best in the entire series for sure. I also adore the Qwark vid comics.
Dr. Nefarious and Lawrence are a fantastic duo and i love them so, so much.
That being said, after playing the previous games, i have come to like UYA far less than before. 1 and 2, imo, are leagues and bounds above UYA is so many areas.
Also, i HATE the Sewers of Aquatos! Like for real, the last collectatons where opens spaces, OPEN SPACES! Here its confusing tunnels, ugly visuals and of course crawling with the most annoying enemies in the series.
I agree with you, this game is SO overrated. Its not bad at all, i find it great and fun. But compared to the previous two, it honestly does`nt hold a candle and i cannot bring myself to call it one of my favorites, even though there is tons of nostalgia here for em.
If i where to score, i would probably give it a 7,5/10.
Anyway, a wonderful video Arc. Looking foward to your reviews of the other RAC games!

Great video! This year I played all of the PS2 Ratchet & Clanks(1,2,3,Gladiator) through 100% on the PS3 and my favorite is still R&C 2. With R&C3 I hate the battle missions because they take so long and there are so many of them + turret sections. Overall the game's color hue is just brown+orange and that makes the whole game seem bland and uninspired.

Fascinatingly enough, the multiplayer is still played to this day, even after support has long stopped for it.

I think I agree with you on a lot of points, a lot of good things, but somethings that aren't perfect. I HATED the sewers especially because my game would just freeze so often there making me lose ALL of the crystals I had acquired if I didnt save. Wasted hours there. Its a great game but I like Going Commando more for sure. Great video none the less!

Honestly the first three games were amazing, and the only other ones that topped them were ToD and ACiT. The great clock was incredibly good writing honestly, but aside from that the best gameplay came from A Crack in Time.

In my opinion this is my favorite out of the trilogy and in the series, the humor and innuendos gave me alot of laughs and the gameplay is awesome, I do have a problem with the difficulty though since this game is hard as balls and I even started tearing up after getting so annoyed by dying so many times at the crash site on my first playthrough but I still love the game nonetheless, I think A Crack In Time might take it's place but I can't really play the future series since the playstation website won't let me add funds and you can't add funds on PS3 so I might have to order physical copies, anyway I would give the game a 9 out of 10 but I respect your opinion and you make a really good explanation on what is good and what isn't.

It really is a hilarious game! I don't find the R&C games that difficult anymore, but I remember 3 being easier than 1 and 2. Crash Site was indeed very hard though. That's a shame about the website, but it's definitely worth getting them physically!

Unfortunately it was a half "disappointment" in comparison to that masterpiece that was Going Commando. But that doesn't mean it sucks...on the contrary, it's still great despite everything. However, I must say that this game was supposed to be the best of the trilogy but it turned out to be the "worst" of the three. The main problem was the idea of including a multiplayer segment at all costs in extremely tight development time and unfortunately the final product has suffered because the incompleteness is seen in many aspects such as incomplete levels and absurd lack of details and innovations that characterized the series. Unfortunately the trend of the multiplayer mode inserted everywhere even when it is not needed has existed for decades and it is not only a modern problem... Who knows what a masterpiece it would have been if they had focused only on the singleplayer segment ... As I said I think it is still a 9/10 game while the first and Going Commando are 10/10

The HD collection is great for R&C 1 and okay for going commando. PS3 port of Up your Arsenal is kinda bad. I hate to emulate this game and deadlocked on PC . I recently brought a fat PS2 from eBay and retrotink 5x pro so I experience so I can play the definitive version of up of your arsenal and deadlock.

@@arcaedonluminos666 Well, we got the music for one. Seriously, I really, REALLY like the music there, kinda gives the feeling that you're traversing an unknown, and that at any point something could appear and chew your ankles off. We also got the part where it feels less meander-y than most other walk around and get the thing areas in R&C games. Like, I don't know how much sense this will make, but it actually feels like I'm GOING places, as opposed to walking around and hoping the Geiger counter but for money goes off. Not to mention, there's the fact that eventually, it does get the feeling of becoming grander in scope the moment you get the gravboots on Rilgar, with entire areas opening up to reveal more twisting and secret areas with crystalized crap hiding everywhere. With all that said, as much as I love this area and all that, even I must bemoan the fact of the matter that there's literally just the ameoboids and nothing else in the entire area. Like, they could've spiced things up with other opponents, a more original hiding spot than walls of snot, and maybe even added minibosses like they did for my second favorite money hunt area in Into the Nexus, but nah. Amoeboids and King Amoeboids. But, that aside though, in my own personal opinion, it stands tall and strong amongst the other areas in Up Your Arsenal.

    • @arcaedonluminos666
      @arcaedonluminos666  2 года назад

@@ruilmonsezhi4088 Well defined reasons! I can agree about really liking the music, and the linearity works well in regards to directing the player towards the collectibles. I just wish that it wasn't so slow, given Chargebooting can be challenging in the lower area and not even possible in the upper one. It wouldn't have been such a problem hadn't the corridors been so long, and I hate that you can only approach the walls of snot from one side to awaken the King Amoeboids.
