- Ratchet & Clank Month 2022 kicks off with my review of the Original Ratchet & Clank from 2002! It's R&C's 20th anniversary, so this is a special occasion where I celebrate the first game and explain why it's my most nostalgic video game!
Unfortunately, I didn't manage to release this video on the actual anniversary, that being November 4th, so that's a shame, but hopefully it won't lessen its value. You should probably expect later R&C Month videos to not meet their deadlines either. I will get them out eventually though, mark my word!

i’d never go back so many rules not being able to play except for weekends and having to share the ps2 with siblings…. now i play all ratchets mobile with rog ally in 4k
This was so in-depth. You put into words perfectly why this is (in my opinion) the best R&C game, and my favorite video game of all time. Many people have problems with the gameplay, but for me this wasn’t an issue at all. Really good review.

Happy to reveal fun facts that few know of! Correction: the cannon shoots out Construction Bots. I unfortunately had to shift my priorities, but I'm about halfway done with the Top 15 Characters vid.
The first RYNO is still my favourite one. It's nice and efficient. It fires 9 homing missiles that will all hit _something,_ and for pretty sizeable damage.
As the series went further, I feel like the RYNO went from this nice, simple weapon to an inaccurate rocket minigun that might look like it spews devastation (and... classical music, for some reason) until you realise that you're barely hitting anything. The RYNO IV / V comes to mind here. A lot of people's favourite RYNO seems to be the second one, though.
I love the Ryno IV and V, I think the latter is my favorite, but you're right
The RYNO 8/Infinity is also just.. super weak? Its on par in terms of DPS with other weapons in that game.
Same feeling bro. Ratchet 1 and 2 are games that impacted me a lot as a kid. So much that every year I have the urge of replaying them. They are unmatched by any later game in the series that came afterwards for me.

I knew about the franchise for a good while, but didn’t actually get into them until 2014, but regardless I’m glad i got into such a great franchise.

Just replayed Rac 1, 2 and 3, currently on Deadlocked. I think the first is my favorite. It just feels so memorable compared to 2 and 3. The planets and music rly help with this. I also appreciate the clunkier gameplay because it adds a level of difficulty. In 2 and 3 you can kind of just side flip to dodge everything. I like how the weapons remain useful throughout the game, I found the bomb glove quite useful on Orxon and I used the Pyrocitor on Drek. Later games make the early game weapons very weak and they sometimes upgrade into a completely different gun, like the Lava Gun in 2 or the Ryno in 3 when it upgrades to V5.
Ratchet is way more interesting in the first game too, I felt he was a bit generic in 2 and 3. I still rly like all the ps2 games though but I was just very surprised to like the first game since it was not my favorite as a kid due to how clunky the gameplay was.

The reason why it’s so nostalgic is because it shows a universe full of imagination and science and wonder! You don’t get this in any other game, the closest thing is the Disney movie Tomorrowland or the movie Meet the Robinsons

I always hated that people complained that Ratchet was too edgy and not family friendly enough in the first game....
Like, yea, he's like that, a bit, but its not excessive and he is written like this to set up his character growth, whereas if you look at Ratchet 2 and 3 he's just.... Bland, he's a good person, but there's nothing to him anymore. He lost his subtlety and the bite in his personality. And lets just not even talk about that 2016 *TRAVESTY*
Atleast some of his personality comes back in Gladiator/exterminator.
