Can you explain why you shouldn't go up with the squeegee when applying the paint? Also you might be able to see the registration marks better if you don't paint them white :)
Ok, this one I understand. The paint goes thru the holes. On your first one (penguin), I still don't understand how you got the body outline. Sorry if I'm missing something. I'm going to watch the penguin one again.
Tammy Guitard-Vallier I got confused too when I saw the penguin, I rewatched many times then I got it, the white background of the table didn’t let me see that the body is transparent so the ink goes thru 😉
@Corinne Blackstone have you ever used a heat gun to dry the colors between layers? I was wondering if I could do that to speed up the process or if that doesn’t work with water based ink
I have had issues with white ink on dark colors and it cracking. What is your experience with it and how do you get your white ink to show through as white and not crack? Thanks!
Hi Corinne! In Design Space you only show registration marks at the top, but when you are working with the vinyl there are 2 at the bottom as well. Does it matter?
Mask the open areas on the back of the screen where you placed your vinyl. Then you don’t have to worry about catching the tape edges with your squeegee.
If I plan to use my screens for one project and don't plan on changing any colors or vinyl stencil, do I need to wash them between days? If I have to take the vinyl stencil off before washing after it's been used, are there any tips to do so? I just tried it and some of my letters didn't come out as clean as the stencil but I think that's because the vinyl may not have been stuck to the screen as well so paint got smooshed in.
Hi Corinne Love this tutorial. I am wondering can you reuse your stencil/vinyl if you wash it off when you wash the screen or will it be destroyed? Thanks.
If want to make a reusable/permanent screen you can use Heat Transfer Vinyl and attach it to the screen with a heat press! That’s how I make washable screens with my cricut
I have seen people use this paint, just using a stencil and not the screen, They just tape the stencil on the shirt, have you tried this? Sometimes it sounds easier to me
Ummm ok? This is for my friends child Camden who has a rare genetic disorder called STXBP1. You are welcome to read more about it at stxbp1disorders.org I’m sure you assume it’s about covid but you’ll note this video was created long before that.
I’ve watched several videos on screen printing but no one asks why not just use HTV? Seems like it’s a lot of work this way. Just trying to understand.
Because HTV is heavy and not always desired. Because screen printing is less expensive especially when doing many shirts. its also much faster when making multiple shirts. plus is super FUN!
Good job but for more vibrant gold/yellow and red and green, should put a white underbase first... helps on a dark t-shirt background.
Thanks for the tip!

Great video and instruction! The best I have seen so thank you!
If you put it on the front of the screen it can be reused. You just have to make sure you use the 651 or 751 oracle vinyl.
I have a video on how to make a reusable screen and if you have to wash the screen using a permanent vinyl will still lift away

How about 4 small post-it’s under the registration marks. A little stick should help them stay where you put them. Thanks for the tutorial.
I’ve also seen people use painters tape under the registration marks
... “it’s fine”🤣 I love your comments, they always crack me up!
How long do you wait between doing each screen? Do you wait for the colors to dry at all before going in to the next color?
Yes you need the color below to dry or you may smudge it took about an hour to dry fully
@Corinne Blackstone have you ever used a heat gun to dry the colors between layers? I was wondering if I could do that to speed up the process or if that doesn’t work with water based ink
@@poopoomcgee123 yes you can but you’ll need to be extremely careful and you can’t use it on the screen itself the heat will damage it
@@poopoomcgee123 ive seen some do that as well as hover a heat press over it for some time
How long of dry time do you need in between colors? Or can you heat press in between
You need to let it dry before pressing. I allowed for 2 -3 hours
I have had issues with white ink on dark colors and it cracking. What is your experience with it and how do you get your white ink to show through as white and not crack? Thanks!
I have only had the issue if I put the white on super thick
Is there a reason you didn't cover the registration marks before you aligned? Sorry im new to this and would love to try it
I'm not sure what you mean. You have to see the marks to align it you dont want to cover them
Hi Corinne! In Design Space you only show registration marks at the top, but when you are working with the vinyl there are 2 at the bottom as well. Does it matter?
No you can just use the two at the top
Mask the open areas on the back of the screen where you placed your vinyl. Then you don’t have to worry about catching the tape edges with your squeegee.
Do you have to lay it out to dry or can you hang it ?

Yes absolutely need to wash your screen as soon as possible. You don't want the paint to dry on them
How long in between each color do you wait before adding another color
Until completely dry mine took about an hour
I know this is old. How long did you wait between colors?
I am wondering the same. I didn’t hear anything about timing between colors.
You used permanent adhesive vinyl ?
Not heat transfer correct ?
Yes this is permanent adhesive vinyl
cool video...which type of ink, is it speedball water based ?
The links are in the description yes this is waterbased
@@CorinneBlackstone thank you ☺
Can you use the cricut easy press to set the screen print ink?
Yes you can
Corinne Blackstone WOW! Thanks for the quick reply! ❤️
Thank you 😊
So you put each layer on different screen ?
Yes
Did you use 4 different screens?
No it’s all done with one screen
Hello what brand t shirt is that and where can i purchase some?
I got it from Jiffyshirts
Great video! ❤❤❤
Have you tried using stencil vinyl for the images? It is clear and might help to line up the images instead of registration marks.
It does not stick well enough to the screen
probly a dumb question.. why are there registration marks? i'm wanting to get into this.
oh wait.. nevermind the more i watch it the more im realizing it helps you line everything up
What type of heat press do you have? I went to your Amazon store and didn't see it. Thanks
It's a mint starcraft you can get it at 651vinyl.com/?partner=196113
@@CorinneBlackstone Thank you.

How long does the paint need to dry
I let mine dry about an hour between coats but you can use a hair dryer to speed up the process

I have seen people use this paint, just using a stencil and not the screen, They just tape the stencil on the shirt, have you tried this? Sometimes it sounds easier to me
why are you concerned with painting the registration blocks each time you change a color?
Just so I can see them better. You really don't have to but for me it helps me make sure I got everything lined up
This was my question too! Glad you answered it!
High there , how long did you wait until each screen printing between colors?
at least 45 minutes
If you use a regular at home iron, how long do you need to iron it for?
Set it to the highest setting and you will need to do 30 seconds. Keep the iron moving

Is this permanent? How long does it last?
Yes this is permanent with the right care it will out last the shirt. Just wash in col water inside out tumble dry low
Why can’t you just paint the holes/area instead of using all that paint over the whole screen?
It’s just easier to run the squeegee over the whole screen
