    He also added this...
    "All has been resolved. The leak was the result of a manufacturing defect in the sunroof panel frame where water would back up around around a riveted area eventually finding it's way out through the overhead speaker. The service advisor explained that the same issue was also present in the new frame they were sent and they corrected that prior to installation. There was excessive water present in the headliner with staining and the speaker was damaged as well. All new headliner, speaker, and components
    If you have a 24 with a sunroof and are having these issues, have them check the riveted area on the passenger side."

      When they said they "corrected that prior to installation", that means they likely did some version of what I did because they realized replacing the track wasn't going to fix it. So basically they fired the parts cannon at it, then had to come up with a fix like I did.

      I’m having the same issue on my 2024 tremor twice and a moon roof replacement seat was ruined as well. I can see the water pour into the track using a touch free car wash. This is a brand new car with 700 miles so can I claim a lemon law on this and just have the dealer buy this back. This will never be fixed.

    Thank you so much for this fix. I just bought a 22 lariat that i didnt even know had a sunroof until i got to the dealership. Was happy to have a sunroof as i was trading in a BMW with a sunroof that never once had a problem.
    Well a week goes by and after heavy rain plus my alarm going off in the middle of the night due to the amount of water coming through. I noticed my headliner was soaked. I dismissed it just being a rare occurrence. Well it happened again the other night. Found this video, had my girl use a hose and spray the truck for 5 minutes while i was inside with the headliner pulled down. Low and behold i see the water pouring in from the back of the sunroof seal running down the drain track then i see the rivets and the big hole toward the front of the truck and what do you know? Water running from that all the way to the front of the headliner where its pooling. Going to buy some butyl back tape and some Loctite water proofing silicone right now. Thank you so much!!

    Thank you. Im having this with my 24 Lariat. Had a flash flooding monsoon roll through and when we went to leave my husband's sat on a wet seat cover. Thank God i literally bought waterproof seat covers to protect the leather the day before. But now i found that under the back seat is wet as well. I had simple paperwork on the carpeted area to grab quickly when I get out. Paperwork was wet. Hoping it was from the sunroof and not the back windows

    I don't know if this helps you find the cause or not, but I just read a Ford forum and copied this from a guy who was having the same issue. He said he took it to the dealership, and this is what they did...
    "With the sunroof open and the wind deflector up, he poured a cup of water into the channel, and it drained properly. He held the deflector down with his hand and poured water in, and it came out the speaker."

    Did you find the cause yet? I have a 2022 xlt. Never noticed a problem until this past summer when I started getting a musty smell in the truck. Thought it was something with the A/C. Dealership checked it and all was good. Next rainfall I got the smell in my truck again. Put my fingers up in that track and there was water in it on the drivers side rear. Bringing the truck to dealership on Oct 1st. Any suggestions on what I should say to them or ask them other than what you’ve explained here as a temporary fix?

      I'm doing this as a permanent fix. I'd rather stop the water from getting into where it's not supposed to be, but I don't think that's possible.
      So I'm doing the next best thing, which is keeping it contained in the track and not allowing it into the headliner, and it eventually runs back into the trough.
      As to the "why" it's getting there...my current theory is that on certain trucks, it gets on to the leaf spring for the deflector, runs down it and into the greasy "track" part of the track, where the mechanism slides and water should NEVER be.
      The difference between the newer ones that do this and the older models is the deflector. The older ones had a totally different deflector arm, which was rounded on top and if water did get on it, it just ran off the side.
      The newer ones, instead of an arm with a spring beneath it to push it up, the arm itself is basically a leaf spring...which is flat. And pretty fat, so water can easily run down it and since it attaches in the "mechanism part", that's how it gets into the headliner.
      Or at least that's my current theory. And I don't see any way to stop that...it's a design flaw if I'm correct. So I treat the symptom, and I've not had one come back on me yet, and I've done a bunch this way so I think it's effective.

      As to the musty smell, it has to be wet somewhere for that. The fabric of the deflector itself can get moldy. Spray it with disinfectant for that.
      Need to run your hand under the carpet on all 4 floors and see if there's any dampness at all. There should be none. It should be bone, dusty dry under there. If not, work back from there to find the leak. A/C drain is a big offender for musty smells.

      Thank you for your responses. I’m so glad I came across your channel so I could get this valuable information to the dealership. I’d do it myself but it’s under warranty so I’m making Ford pay for there shoddy workmanship. I’ll be pulling the head liner down today because I’m interested in where the actual intrusion is. There’s water coming in from every corner of this sunroof. I can see it in dripping from the rear trough on both sides along with the front corners

      It’s a damn shame that sunroofs are this bad. The design should be for water that comes in only during unique situations like out of alignment issues or bad seals. These friggin things are designed expecting it to flow like the Mississippi

    Mine literally just started leaking today on my 2024 F-150 Raptor on the passenger side. The speaker area was wet so sounds like it’s coming in right where you described . I have an appointment to take it to the dealership on Friday because that is the only day the guy that handles the leaks is there.

    Will the water still drain out even though water is dripping down the wrong track?

    • @SealofPerfection
      @SealofPerfection  5 месяцев назад +1

      @@valentino826021 yes, that part is open to the front trough

      @@SealofPerfection thank you for the reply. It’s unfortunate after three trucks this 2024 tremor has had all the issues. I don’t understand why Ford has not addressed this still. I have no more leaks through the speaker and have confirmed that the headliner backing is dry to the touch. It’s still concerning seeing water drip from the corners of the moon roof. I believe the neofoam seal that runs horizontal between the moon roof and the fixed glass has something to do with it. Do you know if there is something that can be done to provide a better seal?

    • @SealofPerfection
      @SealofPerfection  5 месяцев назад +1

      @@valentino826021 There really isn't much you can do. They are designed to pass some water, and the drain system is there to take it out of the track to the ground.
      Most sunroofs are designed this way, you just can't actually see it leaking in like you can with these.
      The horizontal piece you're talking about is the rear or mid trough. It's there to catch the water that comes in from between the 2 glasses, and then it runs to either side trough and then to the drains.
      The foam is there as kind of a 'wall' to keep it from splashing on to the occupants.
      About the only things you can do is make sure the glasses are adjusted as precisely as possible to slow the water intrusion down, and then keep the seals lubed. And the drains clear and flowing.

      @@SealofPerfection Do you have a video or know of one that show's how to properly adjust the glass? My sunroof pours water in the corners where the two panels meet. I've watched your seal replacement video that solved the majority of that but i'd like to also adjust it. Also do you have a link to the seal?

      @@Davian45 This video should start at the place where I show how a pano roof should be adjusted. It's at about 30 minutes and 37 seconds if it doesn't.
