The man has an innate ability to make you cringe, even if you have seen it before. That 'interview' with Karen Roper, from the moment of him sitting on the corner of the desk to the point of him hiring her, I had my hands on my face and just repeating - no , no, no.

To me the best thing about this series is that in the process of portraying David Brent trying and failing miserably to adapt to the new politically correct world, it became one of the very last politically incorrect comedies. The rapid change regarding what is 'allowed' is something everyone over a certain age can relate to. And as the western world becomes more and more insanely censored, the appreciation for his character grows. It really is timeless.

How can it be politically incorrect if it's doing it on purpose to parody people like that. Politically correct doesn't mean stop making jokes about races, disabilities etc it's about context. If you're making fun of the guy saying the insensitive racist remarks then it's politically correct.

Apparently one piece of advice that Ricky Gervais gave the American show was to make Michael more competent and more likable than David because they wanted the American show to last for a longer time, and if Michael was as bad as David nobody would want to root for him.

It's concentrated like gelatin. You melt it and dilute it in hot water then add cold and fridge to set.
