Car Life: CRX SI - Music to the Ears - SingularEntity.com

- A car purchased during an emotionally hard time in Greg’s life, it became a source of social stress relief; a way for a group of friends to come together and turn wrenches to leave behind the stresses from other aspects of life. Greg’s pursuit of the perfect tone and pitch for his car came from his background in music, and you can appreciate the notable sound of the high compression 1600cc Honda Motor in the cabin. To achieve a perfect blend between intake and exhaust noises would take a careful selection of parts, and an adamant decision to build the original motor. Greg’s CRX would not be built for the purists but for the enthusiast within him. The CRX became a canvas for Greg to build the ultimate combination of power and nimbleness as he ventured into more and more motorsport events - this is Greg Bruce's car life story.

Me too
Me too, that’s why I have one.
this is the kind of honda guy i have respect for
Car guy
Not Honda Guy
"You could have bought a BMW." So I can be like everyone else out there not enjoying what their cars can do? No thanks.
Well done! Love what he did with his car.
Alittle biased but somewhat true on the overall aspect of ownership, however if you really love cars, then any make or model will make you happy. It's about passion and your own love, not what others think.
I sincerely wish the best for this CRX owner. Very humble, and simultaneously passionate about his build. You can tell by the way the Rex is setup: clean, original, and not too flashy. It may not be fast, but it sure does handle well, and that's what counts! Too many people drive fast cars without learning how to control it well. And his motto is right; real racers keep it on the track. That's where true skill lies. What an excellent video, definitely subscribed.
Love it, that car makes me remember why I still own a CRX at the age of 30.
I like this car. It's done very tastefully. And I agree with the owner about exhaust sound on these cars and Hondas in general. He did it right. But there are still gonna be haters just because its a Honda. Just because it's not the fastest car out there doesn't mean it can't be fun. That's the #1 quality I look for in a car, fun.
It's not fast enough because it's a N/A. People always compare Hondas with other turbo cars. And they call themselves car enthusiast. A true car enthusiast will know how to make comparisons and will never look down at other cars. Don't be a gay in motorsports. Respect each other
I respect CRXs. I can't speak for everyone but I only hate Hondas because they're the sloppy seconds of imports. Granted,I'm 18 but still.
+Faizal Asyraff its true...i hate when people say oh you have 200 whp my 800 whp ferrari or mustang will dust your ass....like really?now if he says side by side comparisons like 140 whp compared to the fiat which has the same numbers but the fiat is better is alot diffrent.smh fake enthusiasts every where these days!
This guy has my two favourite small cars a Miata and a Honda crx.
This is a solid build! I was expecting a B or K swap but he managed to build a D series back to life! Respect +++
I'm not too much of a CRX guy but this is one hella clean CRX.
Freakin' fallin' in love! He has a Mx-5 NA next to his Honda. You live your dreams, man thats so great. Could cry about it haha^^
It's 2023 and the Honda CRXSI is my favorite car on the planet
Hearing all of this from a more mature car enthusiasts is very inspiring for me to keep building older cars.
Am i the only one who got choked up? lol You could just feel the passion for the rex.
Less is more. At the end of the day it's not about how fast the car is or how much it costs. It's all about the pure driving experience. It's about the road + car + you.
And that is why I love my 1979 Mk2 Escort.
Road+car+turbos+you. But that's me. Gotta b fast when you swerve and when you go straight.
Zaire McDonald I love turbos! But nothing is like the sound of an NA engine. My goal is to get a 911 GT3 in the future :)
Dr. Ng finally someone that gets it.
joethecollector while that is true I find that turbos make SOME cars sound better. for example, crawford brz
CRX Si is a wonderful machine!
Another channel like Petroliciuous, awesome!
One suggestion that I have for future videos is to lower the BG music volume and increase the volume of the cars and the converstations.
Greg, your CRX looks awesome! You've struck the perfect balance of performance and classy modifications. Well done.
It wasn't the Si, but that was my car. I remember that engine sound perfectly! Great video!
"Greg I think you need to buy yourself a sports car, I think that's gonna make it better" - true words of wisdom.
Wow, I bought an 89 CRX Si same color, that I kept stock until unfortunate road disrepair sent me into a wall on an on-ramp... I loved that car and watching this gave me nostalgia chills.
Thts my GUITAR TEACHER XD
You have to be proud of him
I come back to check this video out from time to time. At 48 I've been a Honda fan for 30 years and him always on one my toy is a EM1 very enjoyable car to drive just like this CRX
3:30 that’s exactly how i feel bout my 91 crx, mad respect
I love the way he talks about the exhaust! It sounds so good the way he built it. I can't wait to get a CRX...
Great video! Im also a owner of a 90 Civic hatch modified and in my late 30s. Owned since 1996. Everything you said in this video is spot on how I feel. Looks great
Worth the wait. Another amazing video. Keep it up
Thanks!
This guy is the man! Has such a good perspective, and his car has so much character and a good story behind it.
Amazing car! This guy's got the right kind of mentality with his perspective on balance, fun, and overall driveability.
best sounding single cam ever.
Watch this several times I'm 47 I just picked up a 91 CRX SI. No motor or transmission while I appreciate the single overhead cam I'm putting a B20 in this car. Keep enjoying such a classic
this is the video what got me to buy my CRX back in 2016.
what he said about most people think that cars are a status couldn't be more true! to me, when i like a car, i like the car, not how the car will make me look
Very well done video! I love watching and hearing true enthusiasts explain their story. Perfect example of a well built car with simplicity, a sense of class, and most of all... drive ability. Good work sir. Will be watching more of your work.
Subscribed!
I'll wait for more videos in this series. It's really nice to hear from these kind of guys.
Wow awesome video!! Congrats Greg!! Your Rex has come such a long way great to see things come full circle !!!!
I had a 1991 CRX Si that I bought new when I was 18 years old, I still miss that car and I've had a lot of cars!

This fellow says all the right things.
Not really a Honda Fan but the Video is really on point and the views of the driver were fantastic ones. Great Stuff!
Bruce is the real one he teaches us cle and he is a great mann he knows alot about cars and tell us about them too 🔥
Great video, guys !
Decent ride, sympathic guy, nice pictures and a good message behind it all.
Hats off.
Man this car beautiful. I miss my EF, gave me the same feeling
I love it. Thanks for this. Makes me want another Crx Si. (Had one as a teen.)
Need more
Of these honda guys. Respect
So many haters, it doesn't matter what he drives, as long as he enjoys what he drives we aren't in any place to judge. CRX or GTR, what matters most is we give the owner the respect he deserves for his chosen platform. It's all about enjoying the car you drive, daily or weekend warrior/track car. Clearly it isn't all about high horsepower for him, it's all about taking it out and enjoying the fact that manufacturers used to make barebones lightweight sports cars, now they're all loaded up with safety features and tech.
I've never really heard a Honda that I like the sound of until now, aside from a NSX of course. Sweet ride.
That was heart warming, need some people like that in 2020
I had a 91 crx si also, with a b16. the most beautiful one ive ever seen in my life.. it was one of the hardest things ever to trade it and see it go... most fun ive ever had in a car! i will own another one day...
I saw this car at the Knox Mountain Hillclimb this year! thought I recognized it in the video, and sure enough, its the same guy! max respect on his build! sweet story
Im in highschools and i understand what he ment with highschoolers but ne and ny friends are from there and we all have passion for our integras hatches and DA's
Dope Teg nice
Dope Teg same
man what a clean honda, original build and not a swap. Love the video it was worth the wait
I knew I had mad respect for you and your build when you shared your philosophy of what makes a car better. When I saw the Miata in your garage, I knew we could be great friends haha.
Very excellent videos with these auto owners that have such great things to say about their experiences and their perspective on cars. I love how rich the visuals are as well. Keep it up! You have my support!
That's one nice and tastefully done crx! I agree with his small car and Honda philosophy. Track day!!
Great looking CRX..heck of a lot better looking than our Project CRX series we've got going on. Keep up the good work!
I love your philosophy. You built your car for you. I like the idea of balance between engine noise and exhaust.
I was 21 when i bought my v-TEC
A lot of money That time new....and still now...i am still in love in That car. What a fun...what a power.
I remember i was racing with porsche 928... and he lost in the corners. 😀👍
love the vid. keep it up guys. would love a crx one day.
🥺 crazy how I remember watching this exact video when I was younger. Now I own a 90 civic hatch dx and may have the opportunity soon to actually obtain a 90 red crx si from a family friend ❤️ hope which ever path I take whether it is to keep the hatch or get the crx, it all goes well haha :)
10 years ago.. i buy an 1991 crx vtec with 150 hp. Still own and love it! Great car
A true car with true owner's, thats what Honda stands for in my book.
Good job mate! Keep up thge good work, inspiration for us all!!
Canada here, good point of view, knowledgeable on social scene and social thinking on what it is to "drive"... enjoy yours as "we" enjoy ours bro... Merry Xmas
A man after my own heart! Very well said!
Nice video and car. I have a 89 SI that I resurrected and totally understand how you feel. I grew up in the muscle car Era but when the CRX came out that was my dream car. I have had mine like 12 years now. Now my son enjoys driving it as much as me.
Loving this video as well! You guys do a great job!
well built and balanced car. mad props
Kudos for sticking with D-series...more power that comes with more engine weight isn't always the answer, especially when it comes to a driver's car.
Thanks.
..now i miss my 89 crx si
He talks about how good it sounds and then they play music of that "wonderful sound"! I have a '91 CRX Si also, and I never listen to the radio and I keep my window down if possible.
Amazing! Cant agree more!
Perfect speech, great taste.
I have no idea why this channel doesn't have a ton of subs, really great work man
We, Europeans got luck, ours 135 bhp d16z5 just hits the spot. Im glad to have my baby CRX forever.
My friend has a 89 CRX, and I love that car.
Loved this! You earned yourself a sub! Keep 'em coming
Man you Shoot Great videos and content I luv it! Please keep bringing us more Honda's!
Greg speaks the truth , makes many valid points. Great Vid !
I am happy to see also older crx lover!
For me,the Same story...nostalgie
This is perfect! I was building a 12:1 D16z6 with a Bisimoto stage 3 cam for my 1990 civic hatch but never finished it due to school.
Had one of these. My best memories as a teenager!
oh the irony! hes putting a B series in it as of may 2016, (fully built gsr) i just bought some cams off greg! he gave me a fresh painted vtec valve cover with a -10AN fitting welded on. really nice guy!
Wheels Unlimited what exhaust does he have
You guys make amazing videos. I had an 1995 Honda Civic Hatchback but it recently got totaled :(
Yes....the best filing when drive this car...
10 years drive si and last 5 my new b16A1 VTEC .... MY EXPERIENCE IS FULL🤗
MY ENGLISH IS BAND 💪😁
@ 4:16 nailed it!... this guy knows what he's talking about. god, i love honda's!
Ive owned probably 7 or 8 88-91 crx si's and still love these cars but had to move on to integras and EM1 Civic SI's But , have to say sir I really like how you built your CRX and stayed true and kept it SOHC with mini- me conversion.
my all time favorite car ever!!! thanks for sharing
More videos like this please. And more Hondas too, I love Hondas!!!!
Love it!
Wow, very nice car and an owner that gets it. LOVE the exhaust on this!! I wanted one of these for a long time,. Very well done. I love the Miata sitting in the garage next to it, lol. I have a 99 NB stone stock and it's a blast to drive as well. I don't guess I'll be on the look out for a CRX any more I have too many as it is, lol. I also have a Black 944 Turbo (951) Porsche and a 98 Mustang GT so I guess I will just enjoy this vicariously through the videos, lol. Great video by the way. Just subbed. I don't see why you don't have more subs actually.
If I had a music teacher who had a CRX I wouldn't miss one single class just to talk about the CRX! ahahah!
he has a miata and the front wheel drive miata. the perfect combination.
i bought honda parts of this guy LOL and he showed me his crx and his turbo track miata. such a humble guy!
kaelen morrison can you ask him what exhaust he has
Yes please
I really enjoyed this video! Great job, I loved that crx
Beautiful.
Sounds amazing
what a genuine spirit build!
Just got a '91 Si. 13 inch rubber(?), header, exhaust (not too loud), Tein shocks (very low). Just as much fun as my '90 Miata. And definitely a much rarer car, which is cool too. It loves to redline and handles like a slotcar. 120 HP or so is just fine in this car. Grab one if you can!
I love this Rex, it's perfect
very nice video its nice to see the crx getting some love ^_^
ONE CAM FOR THE WIN... love the single cam, but b-series guys or most Honda guys will never understood.....
This is so true. Even though i move ahead and did a B and later a K swap i still love the D series and respect people who build them. Weirdly it gets a lot of hate even inside the Honda community when someone mentions they rather build D series instead of something more powerful from the start
